I was preparing to spend my weekend troubleshooting this issue in preparation for a long trip next weekend. (Checking for clogged line, dirty rack, PS pump, etc). I just watched your video. I was a bit skeptical, but WOW, you saved me a lot of money and anxiety! I recently put taller tires on my 2016 Ram (35" from 33's) and a 4" lift kit. My steering got progressively worse, to the point that turning felt like the power steering was completely dysfunctional. I sprayed the steering shaft and U joint exactly like you did. I started my truck up, turned the wheel back and forth, and couldn't believe the difference. I sprayed more on, pulled the truck out of the garage, and again turned the wheel back and forth. The steering was like new again! Thank you a TON for sharing the video!!!!
Thanks for the video! Steering started getting stiff today, spray the steering joint and fixed the problem left it running and did a few rotations to work the WD40 into the yoke and it definitely working immediately. Thanks man God bless
LISTEN.... I JUST had the PS go out on me at a red light and as I turned it just stuck. Had I not been able to catch it or had I been going 20+ mph things could have been different. Got to work and asked one of the Maintenance Managers for WD-40 and BAM! I can now turn my steering wheel! BLESSINGS my brother for the information!

I had this problem shortly after purchasing our used 2019 Ram Classic. I tried to get the part off, but the yoke is rusted to the shaft. So I used ATF and a toothbrush, cleaned it up really good, then sewed a leather boot to fit around the joint. Pumped it full of grease, then finished sewing up the boot. By the way, there was no slack in the steering. If it was worn out, it would not be good to take this approach. It's been over a year, and steering is as smooth as can be. Now it is being constantly lubricated, and is protected from road salt spray, etc. Better than as manufactured.
Good information the only thing I'd probably do differently and please someone correct me if I'm wrong but id probably go with white lithium grease to buy me some extra time
I have a 2016 big horn and it makes a sound like a cell phone vibrating when I move the steering wheel to the left slightly (not turning left just moving the wheel) I have to be going over 30mph for it to do it. Everything else is fine. What do you think
Ya I just literally ran outside popped the hood open and found some WD-40 in my dad's cabinet and sprayed it. And now it turns smoothly and I'm a girl so any one can do this.. thanks a million!!

@@jmccaig1880 It might depend on your "environment". I live in the "salt belt", and after I discovered the problem, I automatically assumed that I would need to replace the part. But it is already too rusted in place to slide it off of the shaft. (It would require 'convincing' with the 'fire wrench' - the torch.). So after cleaning it up really well, I greased it and sewed a leather boot over it. I have no slack in the steering, so I consider this a "better than factory" fix - a permanent one.
on my 2017 RAM 1500, I had the power steering service light come on. took it to a dodge ram dealer, they replaced the EPS and two days later the light came back on. anyone had the same issue?
The first time you steared the key was on the off position of course steering is going to be hard then you turned the key on the foward postion and got easy by the turn of the key

I had this problem shortly after purchasing our used 2019 Ram Classic. I tried to get the part off, but the yoke is rusted to the shaft. You could get it diagnosed at a shop. Could be to u-joint connected to the power steering shaft
