So fun fact about this mech: It is tied for the highest base energy cooldown with the Locust 1V and Spider 5V. But it has higher tonnage than both. And that cooldown applies to ALL energy weapons. Meaning you could run a SNPPC or HPPC on it pretty effectively. The Spider 5V can handle an SNPPC just as effectively with a few extras, but pretty sure this is the only mech that can run a HPPC with that cooldown effectively.
Even PPCs are mean in this. After cooldown nodes, an ERPPC has a cooldown of 1.5 secs, and a Heavy PPC is 1.9, which is still crazy. I noticed you didn't strip the arms for more weight. But I guess since you felt the engine was big enough you were good, it doesn't really matter. Thanks for the excellent content! Look forward to seeing you tackle the rest of the Loyalty mechs.
For PPCs (other than a heavy), the Spider 5V is a better option for most situations - you get the same 50% cooldown, but you also get the capture accelerator, overheat damage reduction, and better sensors. Been running Snub PPC Spiders with a couple of friends for several weeks now, they're amazing.
Arms might be surplus. But they also soak damage. The choice to keep or shed them depends on your weight restrictions. I'd rather lose an arm from a flank attack than a side torso.

Other content creators (won't mention names) insult players on their own team, and then turn around and do the dumbest things you can imagine all because they think they're the star of the match! One creator complained about being shot in the back - all the while his team mates were taking angles and firing and he ran straight in to their firing arcs! Out came the name calling and complaining, it was really cringe to watch. Thanks for making great content, going to have to spend the next few weeks trawling through your back catalogue!
I’d say that the main problem is that you constantly have this great big finger pointing out your location as you fire. More range would help, but the heat management seemed fine as long as you were taking some time to dodge. It might be worth it to get stealth of some kind to do more hit and run.
But lightsabres are cool. Everyone loves lightsabres! Also no stealth, of any kind is available. Well besides radar derp. He (and TTB) are just playing them like mediums. They arent true light players (although Baradul is closer to being a maniac light pilot). We light pilots would never poke from where the enemy is actually looking. We backstab.
@@michaelbarnard8529 When you are at their feet, you can use the flashiest most wildest displays ever, they cant look down to see them! Same when shooting their backs. For stealth mediums to assaults, where you like hide in the volcano, or up on a tower, gauss is like the only thing that is hard to see. AC5s fire too fast, so even though each shot isnt that visible, the constant flash every second gives your position away. But even a gauss shot sends out a massive spark show if they are looking in your direction. So whenever I'm trying to be sneaky, no matter what I'm shooting, just wait til they look somewhere else. After getting shot, they will do the whole looking around to see what shot them, just hold fire while they do that.

Then Evin hits heat vision, rendering the stealth mech 100% invisible, so Evin had to run away. I would love it if all standard lasers had a minimum duration, but you could hold them down for continuous fire. So pulses for peeking and standard for stare down.
funny thing MW3 (not cod) pulse lasers exactly had that .. minimum duration, you held them they did more damage ... thing is standard and ER laser instant hit ppfld made them still redundant ...
Yeah, some of the other loyalty mechs we got are more effective (looking at you, Warthog), but this thing is just pure fun. I've been playing a lot of this Jenner and truly love it.
PSA: the mech is JR7-A(L) which is a reward from annual reward program, it's not obtainable anymore unless they decide to do it again. However the standard variant JR7-A is available in mech store.
It's mechs like this that keep brining me back. After testing all the weapons on this guy I find that the large pulse is indeed the best choice here. The Large x pulse I find performs better on the locust 1V, maybe because unlike this jenner the locust doesn't die the moment something catches you in their peripheral vision.
I was In his Large Pulse Rifleman IIc vid. He saw me, said "Oh hi little urbie" then promptly murdered me in one shot. It was a relief to find out at least it was him that did that to me. I did 51 dmg that match... =(
I believe you can only get loyalty 'mechs if you've already bought a eligible 'mech before. I suppose you could grind for MC, but it's easier to just spend a few bucks to buy it immediately.
this reminds me of the one Cicada back when quirks were brand new- the one that had a single energy hardpoint and crazy ppc cooldown and ppc projectile speed boost. It wasn't really effective for some reason but it was very distracting

i feel i would put some medium laser of some kind in the mech and go for a dash-n-nova build, although since its a IS based mech to choices will change how close i need to be while inverse affecting damage probably
It only gets 1 weapon. So no, you wouldnt be using a medium, you'd have nothing to spend the extra weight on. This is large pulse or erLL ONLY! Compare it to TTB's BLC version to see how bad that was, he couldnt maintain fire more than 3 burns due to heat. Got butt hurt too when I pointed out how bad his build was.
I stopped playing when they broke my Jenner builds for the 5th time. Too much to reskill to fit my builds again. lost a player with all the respecs over and over again.
I look forward to this mini series to see if it changes my mind, because TBH this year we got the most disappointing loyalty mechs ever. I think the only worthwile one is the Adder but let's see.

You talk about skills so much but I am a new player and have no idea how to get, trade in points for skill points. I have looked around and found very little and none of it comprehendible, could you do a step by step instruction video on the this ?
Up in the upper right corner of the skill page is the "Add SP" button. Spend accrued skill xp at 1 point per 500 xp. Then purchase the skill node hexes by clicking on the ones you want. Obviously, you need to get xp on the mech, and it takes a while to get all 91 skill points. First win of the day grants double skill xp for that match on that mech, so for most efficient skill ups, you play a mech til you get the win, then switch mechs each and every day. But this can mean it may take weeks to finish a mech. If you dont have multiple mechs to level up, just grinding one mech will take more matches in that mech, but less overall time. After many events and package purchases, you will accrue GSP (General skill points) and GXP (general experience, also available from every match at about 5% of normal xp) which you can spend on any mech, even one you never played. So old timers who play this game religiously (like Baradul here) will have so much GSP and GXP saved up, they never need to level a mech the hard way. Although Baradul only shows like 11k GXP in this vid, so he been spending that, likely on all these new mechs he just got.

Compare this vid to TTBs BLC vid. The binary is ever so slightly more DPS, basically like a MGs worth (16dps roughly). But after 3 burns he was having to retreat to cooldown. The LPL comes out to about 15dps, and can burn for quite a while (2 etra heat sinks and less heat per shot). So depends how you want to play it. Stay with the group and Shoot for 3 or 4 seconds at a time ONLY then run for cover? BLC. Be a light flanker/backstabber and Chase people with nonstop burns while you turn fight? LPL
I wonder how many medium pulse you could get on something like this.. basically how short can the laser duration be made even with the duration debuff. Might be a crappy build, but I'm still curious about it.

It has speed and more armor for getting in close and gettin stabby... It was still horrible due to not being a locust or flea, thus being easy to shoot back at. For the nova I do 12 er smalls. 30 dmg per trigger pull. Very controllable heat (unlike the stock build), decent range, and plenty of weight left for triple AMS.
Nobody "Needs" any skill node. But you definitely "Want" heat containment. Especially on a heat producing mech, that raises the max heat before shut down and damage. That is always good especially for how cheap it is. But yeh, he should have gotten the range, since he didnt have to spend on cooldown. He really didnt need that extra seismic nor extra radar derp. One node of seismic two nodes of derp is plenty.

Also heat containment only works on the external heatsinks not the base 30 heat capacity so its best to only use it when you are boating lots of heat sinks, his jenner is not boating heatsinks if my math is right the skills for his five double heat sinks are getting him +3.375 heat capacity that is very little and imo not worth it. Edited to correct mistakes in my math.
Previous special legacy mechs have gotten released as normal c-bill variants. I'm really hoping that continues, cuz I only got the crummy MASC Piranha. I really want this Jenner, and the Wolfhound IIc... ok the MASC Urbie i want too. Gotta have all the urbies!

Laser rac, now with 50% more dps! Like a rac 5 and rac 2 combined in one 7 ton laser. I want this mech so bad, they need to hurry and release the c-bill variant.
Usually, they release them later as normal c-bill variants. May be a couple months, or may be never, since these are all so special. If they dont release them soon, I riot.
Kinda looks like you are just splashing your damage all over the enemy rather than doing meaningful damage to particular components to me, but build but didnt seem effective

Like a rac 5 and rac 2 combined in one 7 ton laser.
I want this mech so bad, they need to hurry and release the c-bill variant.

I think you can still get it.
Loyalty mechs are released later for MC and C-Bills. They won't have a fancy paint scheme, though.
Usually, they release them later as normal c-bill variants. May be a couple months, or may be never, since these are all so special. If they dont release them soon, I riot.
It's not for active players, its for spending money, just game time isn't enough.
A great mech load out for MWO would be
1. The best mech with the worst weapons
2. The worst mech with the best weapons

Kinda looks like you are just splashing your damage all over the enemy rather than doing meaningful damage to particular components to me, but build but didnt seem effective
