Ironically, Mick is in better shape now than Hogan. Hogan's workout ethic is better, yes...but he also used steriods a lot and barely "worked" in his matches, doing as little as possible while depending on looks and showmanship to get by. He politiced and manipulated matches to go his way. He rarely had matches in the end because his spine and back were so badly damaged he could barely bend...and they looked awful.
Mick was not in as good of physical shape, but his cardio was beyond belief. His stamina and durability were ten times Hogan, and he was deceptively fast and strong. He put as much as he could into each match, which was sadly his weakness...because he often put too much into them. He overworked himself at points simply to give the fans more.
The difference wasn't workouts. The difference was knowing how much to give in the ring. Hogan did too little, Foley did too much.

@@Mark_Knight Warrior injured wrestlers in his 30 second matches. Mick never once injured another wrestler due to his complete and utter wreckless LACK OF TRAINING IN THE RING. I'll bet that when it comes to actually training as a wrestler in the ring than a roid machine "training" in the gym, Foley has worked on his wrestling more than Hogan or Warrior ever did in their lives combined.
Hogan was slowly realizing that the fan-favorite in wrestling in the 1990's DEFINITELY WAS NOT HIM, and those 24 (sorry, after the roids, they went down to about 18) inch pythons couldn't handle that a nice guy who looks out of shape could put on some of the greatest matches and moments ever, when no one has ever said that about any Hogan or Warrior match.
And if Hulk and Warrior didn't do so many steroids in the 80's, Vince never would have hired them.

I think Hogan's comment about Mick's physical conditioning was unfair but Hogan was from that generation of wrestling that was featuring muscle bound physiques. As far as apologizing about Hogan's matches at that time was probably how several felt when Mick's wrestling skills and ability started to deteriorate and hung on too long that last little stint in WWE and TNA. This may not a popular opinion, but Hogan showing up on TV or PPV used to be my signal to go for a piss break and grab another drink.
It was always the same, either a 3 minute match where he got his ass kicked for 2 minutes and then he "Hulked up", hit the punches, Irish whip, big boot, leg drop, pin, five minutes of hotdogging and grandstanding and finally the end of the show, or when he was in the nWo, cutting 20 minute nonsensical promos with no direction whilst half of the active roster stand around the ring in matching black nWo shirts trying to look interested.
This isn't to say that I've never enjoyed a Hogan match, but if you've seen one, you can rule out about 99% of the other ones.

Doing shitty little leg drops and no selling your opnnents moves by "Hulking Up" of course was embarrassing to Foley. Then Hogan has the nerve to say "I didn't need to destroy my body." He was never EVER gonna do that anyway, Hogan was too busy getting his way from McMahon. Just like when he straight up lied about Undertaker injuring his neck, going back to cry to Vince which led to Hogan pathetically winning the title right back from Undertaker after only 3 damn matches Taker got to spend as champion in 1991. Anyone who thinks Hogan actually got injured in their Survivor Series match needs to go watch, the proof and match are literally on UA-cam. Taker's knees hit Flair's chair while Hogan's head and neck weren't anywhere near it. Hogan girating around while wrestling at the speed of an 80 year old man may have entertained '80s kids, but Hogan's matches always bored the hell out of me and they looked more predictable and faker than anything that came from the PG era everyone likes to bitch about.

True, but fans never got “bored” of Mick. By the early-mid 90’s, people were sick of Hogan and his shtick. I watched the championship match with Undertaker, and people were chanting for him over Hogan about halfway through. His inflated ego, his whiny fits to the bosses when things didn’t go his way, his complete refusal to help out the younger guys (unless he got a massive paycheck or something out of it) and actively hamstringing other guys made other wrestlers hate him. It’s why he had to go heel in WCW and latch onto NWO, because his “Real American” gimmick and 5 basic moves was played out and wasn’t selling tickets anymore. Mick kept it interesting from day one until his last day, whereas people were so sick of seeing Hogan at the end and watching him piss and moan until management let him have yet another belt that they couldn’t stand it.
