This was actually the most harsh thing I have ever seen Mick state.........ever. It's also spot on and true. Micks weight also probably saved him from even more surgeries. His knees might have cursed him for the extra weight but his hips are thankful for it.
The irony is Hulkster can barely walk due to a spine that has more metal than actual bone while Mick is in better shape. Moral of the story: Steroids will destroy you in the long run.
Steroids didn't cause that. Dropping on his ass like 1000 times a year did that. It just took him like 60- years to get there compared to foley who was done by like 40 and completely broken down. Thank got he was able to get healthy to a certain extent
@Champlainscrap steroids break down connecting tendons and cartilage throughout the body. What has cartilage? Your spine. And what does the cartilage do? Absorb shock and impact. So yes that’s why he has to walk around on crutches all those years of doing the leg drop, deterioration of spinal disks, sudden loss of muscle mass supporting that spine = your spine looking like a stack of dimes and having to use crutches to walk around. And no working till you’re 60 isn’t a good thing. Foley new when to get out unlike hogan and flair.
@@reymondlopez7468 Who are you to say when someone should stop working? Work till you're 100 if you can. You don't have to like it but he could. Without Hogan dropping on his ass 1000 times a year, his back would be fine now with or without steroids.
Hogan was a childhood hero of mine. Now forward almost 40 years later he was just a gimmick now that I look back. Had the same 4 moved he used in every match 99% showboating throughout his matches. No technical skillset whatsoever. He was a gimmick that made Vince McMahon billions of dollars with his inspirational one liners and bulked up steroid enhanced physique. This is just one of many times Hogan would sit down and blatantly make himself seem so much better than his peers. Of the countless shoot interviews out there among former wrestlers when referring to Hogan, it’s crazy how you get such a strong sense of how Hogan was the kind of guy to shake your hand and call you brother to your face and then stab you directly in the back.
I watch old Mick foleys matches till this day, I can honestly say I’ve never typed in an old hulk hogan match. Hogan was appreciated by kids Mankind was liked by kids and Adults alike
Watch Hogan vs Rock at WrestleMania 18. It's a great match & nobody jumped on a flaming announcer's table covered in scorpions. I liked Mick Foley's matches too but he wasn't Shawn Michaels. Without the insanely dangerous stunts, he couldn't have made it in the business. The same way Hogan relied on his look & charisma. They both have a point.
Mick is the most giving and selfless sports entertainer. Hulk was just glitz and self promotion. Hulk turned wrasslin into wrestling and into a big show, Mick made it much better and more breathtaking and exciting.
Mick made it to superstar status by eating those “ cheeseburger’s and m&ms “ so what’s hogans point. They both made it huge by different methods I guess hogans is “always” the better method . Meanwhile I bet way more folks love mick a lot more than HH Jmo
Hulk Hogan is training by taking cocaine. 5 moves of doom. He has 7 moves in Japan. His promos were just flexing and brother. Mick Foley could wrestle and not just "glass and fire". He had really fucking good ring psychology, he could do a real promo.
In the Circus of Pro Wrestling, you have something for everyone. The Trapeze Artists and the Lion Taimers, the Strongman Act, and the Human Cannonball not to mention the Freakshows. Not to mention the morality plays of Beauty and the Beast and the quest for the championship. Everyone is needed to play their own roles and shut their mouth.
Doing shitty little leg drops and no selling your opnnents moves by "Hulking Up" of course was embarrassing to Foley. Then Hogan has the nerve to say "I didn't need to destroy my body." He was never EVER gonna do that anyway, Hogan was too busy getting his way from McMahon. Just like when he straight up lied about Undertaker injuring his neck, going back to cry to Vince which led to Hogan pathetically winning the title right back from Undertaker after only 3 damn matches Taker got to spend as champion in 1991. Anyone who thinks Hogan actually got injured in their Survivor Series match needs to go watch, the proof and match are literally on UA-cam. Taker's knees hit Flair's chair while Hogan's head and neck weren't anywhere near it. Hogan girating around while wrestling at the speed of an 80 year old man may have entertained '80s kids, but Hogan's matches always bored the hell out of me and they looked more predictable and faker than anything that came from the PG era everyone likes to bitch about.
Don't forget the claim that Hogan legit paid off Nick Patrick to mess up the scripted fast count against Sting (that screwed up many months of buildup) just because he wanted to look like he won fair and square.
Hulk Hogan effectively became everything he criticized about Ultimate Warrior : "Only working out and the aesthetics of a physique matter." "Only my specific niche of wrestler profile has merit." (Bret Hart does that too, but at least Bret is good friends with Mick Foley)
Another thing Foley never did was cut someones nuts off backstage or refuse to put someone over. I realise what Hogans done for the business but you can discount what Mick has given to the business too. He loves what he does
Well that's sort of the thing about someone who cuts down his rivals rather than building himself up. We know what Foley did for the industry, not just in how he's succeeded but in the success he brought to those around him. With Hogan.... we know he brought alot to the wrestling business, but we'll never really know how much he took away too. How many promising stars didn't get their due, how many talents of the golden age hit a ceiling because their push didn't work for him, and what WCW would be today if they hadn't had to carry Hogan's inflated salary, inflated sense of self worth and creative control.
I really appreciate how Mick stands up for himself while also being respectful. Hulk Hogan is just being a jerk who's trying to make himself look great.
Proof that Hulk Hogan was only in it for himself. Instead of being happy for Foley and being supportive of him, he talks about all the crap he's done and insults other wrestlers like the "Whiny girl in the porno film" he is. But then again, we're talking about Hulk Hogan. I don't think he has any respect for anyone that doesn't worship the ground he walks on. Mick Foley will always be better than Hogan, in my opinion.
Being a pro wrestler is about making money and both of them did very well. Congratulations to both of them. Hogan is broke up now and so is Mick so in the end it didn't matter if you worked out in a gym 30 years or not.
@@kovesveta4238 You did not read it correctly. He is not financially broke. His body is broken down bad knees, bad back, bad neck, ect and so is Hogan with 8 back surgeries, both knees replaced and both hips replaced. They both have money but their bodies are broke up
Hogan is a pathological liar and a total mark for himself. Foley spits the truth. If both guys were at a convention, I know whose line I'd be in, and it ain't Hogan's, brother!
Genetically speaking Mick was never gonna be like Hogan so he did what he had to/was able to, to make a life in the business he loved. Yes he wrecked his body but so did Hulk. Hulk is terribly crippled from dropping the leg for 30 years. At least Foley is crippled from spectacular bumps, not the lamest finisher ever.
While Foley himself is pretty crippled these days, Hogan's hips are shot, from doing a legdrop for all those years. Now yes, obviously Mick didn't draw as much as Hogan, but Mick did make it when he was constantly told he wouldn't, and did draw money.
That's not impressive when you're mostly talking. I'm 36 , I don't remember Remember Hogan for matches I remember him for promos. I remember Mick for matches. I watched wrestling for the matches not the promos
He also invented the internet, saved Make a Wish children at Wembley Stadium, auditioned for Metallica, discovered gravity, deflected asteroids away from earth with his 28” pythons, and created the best coq au vin with braised lardons the world has ever seen.
I doubt Hulk Hogan would be saying all this stuff about Mick, in front of Mick. The stuff that Foley has done to himself throughout his career is enough for me to respect him. Same thing goes for being a best selling author and continuing to put in the work elsewhere. Hogan more or less had everything handed to him because of the look and name alone.
@@SirRavixofFourhorn That's your opinion. In the 80's Hulkamania was running wild. His popularity was off the charts. Fans loved watching him wrestle. He was the draw in WWF. So...

I'm siding with Mick lol. I can't name a Hulk Hogan match that I'll just go back and watch. Hell in the Cell @ KOTR '98 and the I Quit match of Royal Rumble '99 are two of my favorite matches of all time. And both involved Mick.
Not really. Hogan was pushed to the moon because of his height and muscle. Mick wasn't pushed. The fans pushed him not the company. Hence the reason he is still loved by the WWE universe, while hulk will always get mixed reactions.
I mean they both make good points. Was Foley really entertaining in the ring? Absolutely, but at the same time his over the top wrestling style ended his career early. while hogan took the safer and more boring route by not doing anything over the top, which extend his career.
True, but fans never got “bored” of Mick. By the early-mid 90’s, people were sick of Hogan and his shtick. I watched the championship match with Undertaker, and people were chanting for him over Hogan about halfway through. His inflated ego, his whiny fits to the bosses when things didn’t go his way, his complete refusal to help out the younger guys (unless he got a massive paycheck or something out of it) and actively hamstringing other guys made other wrestlers hate him. It’s why he had to go heel in WCW and latch onto NWO, because his “Real American” gimmick and 5 basic moves was played out and wasn’t selling tickets anymore. Mick kept it interesting from day one until his last day, whereas people were so sick of seeing Hogan at the end and watching him piss and moan until management let him have yet another belt that they couldn’t stand it.

Hogan was mad because Foley's main events were outdrawing his over in WCW by a very wide margin during that 1998-2000 time period.
That may be true but Hogan was probably consoled by the fact that he made roughly as much money in 1999 as Mick Foley has in his entire career.

@@kazman_6899 SAYS THE GUY WITH ONE MOVE,,,,,,,,LEG DROP
"He's more machine than man now"
@@reymondlopez7468 Who are you to say when someone should stop working? Work till you're 100 if you can. You don't have to like it but he could. Foley stopped because he couldn't work anymore not because he decided to go out on top. He physically couldn't move at one point. Without Hogan dropping on his ass 1000 times a year, his back would be fine now with or without steroids.
I'll bet Hogan's brain is in better shape though. Foley has memory issues and god only knows if he'll end up with CTE when he's Hulk's age.

Sorry if that offends anyone and I'm sure it will but that's just my opinion of the Hulkster
The guy took steroids, cheated on Linda numerous times, is a racist, a known liar & yet he judges people partying & eating cheeseburgers! HA! He's worse than Jake Roberts calling Bret & HBK dull & boring champions.
Hogan,a guy with a total number of moves you could count on a hand missing fingers, takes a shot at one of the hardest toughest workers and nicest guys
Good on mick for firing back
And no better Wrestler than Hogan whatsoever
This is just one of many times Hogan would sit down and blatantly make himself seem so much better than his peers. Of the countless shoot interviews out there among former wrestlers when referring to Hogan, it’s crazy how you get such a strong sense of how Hogan was the kind of guy to shake your hand and call you brother to your face and then stab you directly in the back.

Without the insanely dangerous stunts, he couldn't have made it in the business. The same way Hogan relied on his look & charisma. They both have a point.

Everyone is needed to play their own roles and shut their mouth.
That's poetry right there
I love this description
Mick Foley would have died for the fans, who else can say that ❤️🏴
At least Mick Foley never had to use steroids
Hulk Hogan effectively became everything he criticized about Ultimate Warrior :
"Only working out and the aesthetics of a physique matter."
"Only my specific niche of wrestler profile has merit." (Bret Hart does that too, but at least Bret is good friends with Mick Foley)
1:15 - That right there is probably the deepest cut I've heard heard from Mick Foley. Just wow. But hey, Hogan brought it on himself.
I thought 1:40 was deeper.
Hogan was there because he would flex his muscle on management to be protected.
I feel that both guys make fair points and the wrestling biz was big enough for the fans with different preferences.
I really appreciate how Mick stands up for himself while also being respectful. Hulk Hogan is just being a jerk who's trying to make himself look great.
He wasn’t respectful he roasted him and hulk deserved it 😂

But then again, we're talking about Hulk Hogan. I don't think he has any respect for anyone that doesn't worship the ground he walks on. Mick Foley will always be better than Hogan, in my opinion.
Being a pro wrestler is about making money and both of them did very well. Congratulations to both of them. Hogan is broke up now and so is Mick so in the end it didn't matter if you worked out in a gym 30 years or not.
Mick is broke?. How???
@@kovesveta4238 You did not read it correctly. He is not financially broke. His body is broken down bad knees, bad back, bad neck, ect and so is Hogan with 8 back surgeries, both knees replaced and both hips replaced. They both have money but their bodies are broke up
Hogan is a pathological liar and a total mark for himself. Foley spits the truth. If both guys were at a convention, I know whose line I'd be in, and it ain't Hogan's, brother!
Anyone that ever really watched either of them knows Mick is the real legend!
Where's the lie, though. Hulk spittin facts here
Genetically speaking Mick was never gonna be like Hogan so he did what he had to/was able to, to make a life in the business he loved.
I mean Hogan did work 400 days a year!
That's not impressive when you're mostly talking. I'm 36 , I don't remember Remember Hogan for matches I remember him for promos. I remember Mick for matches. I watched wrestling for the matches not the promos
Also was in 2 places at the same time
He also invented the internet, saved Make a Wish children at Wembley Stadium, auditioned for Metallica, discovered gravity, deflected asteroids away from earth with his 28” pythons, and created the best coq au vin with braised lardons the world has ever seen.
They were both entertaining in their own way 🤷♂️
I agree Tyler
Except Hogan wasn't entertaining at all. Watching one of his matches is like watching paint dry.
