I also like the implication that Membrane is trying to be a better father but doesn't quite know how without dismissing his interests and concerns entirely... and just ends up pushing his son away further. And that Zim sees how much his absentences effect Dib's mental state and thus begins phase one.

This is such an amazing scene and fits as a perfect prologue to the movie in every way. I really like the emphasis on Zim when it talks about his best friend. Cause the sad thing is, Zim is probably the closest thing he has to a best friend. Like Dib really has no one in the world who believes him, besides Zim. Which you can tell really eats at him and causes him to be a recluse the more Zim doesn't come to skool. I just love this a lot
i also love how Dib is clearly the only person who views Zim as competent. everyone else just sees him as a failure. hell, even Gaz, who knows Zim is an alien, knows he won't be able to take over the world, and his leaders are counting on him never succeeding. Zim and Dib give each other a reason to keep fighting, and they believe in each other
Yeah, there was one episode where Dib decides to give up on Alien Hunting to be a scientist like his Dad, so Zim eventually becomes depressed and unmotivated to excecute his world domination plans and starts to feel purposeless without Dib. Along the line Dib realises that he hates being a scientist/feels similarly to Zim, so he promptly returns to trying to destroy Zim. Idk, they care about each other more than they consciously realise, lol. Honestly, I got into this fandom via the Netflix movie, and I legit thought that they'd end up being best friends/bickering- buddies by the end, like, their personalities bounce off each other so well and they have the best interactions.
Warning: Mini Thesis Paper of a Comment Ahead. A lot of people are saying they feel bad for Membrane, but quite frankly when it comes to the beginning of Enter the Florpus/Issue 1 I feel way worse for Dib and can't sympathize with his dad at all. Dib manages to get himself in such a severe state of paranoia that he spends weeks straight not leaving the monitor to go sleep, bathe, or presumably (as it's made very clear he didn't ever leave that room) using the goddamn toilet. It's ironic that the ONE time his dad decides not to call mental health services, Dib legitimately needed them. The state he was in was beyond unhealthy and he could of very easily ended up accidentally killing himself from his own neglect. To put this in perspective - even animals instinctively avoid living in their own shit. The fact Dib's mind broke down to such an extreme degree is a clear sign that the kid needs serious help. Dib might be correct about Zim, but as referenced at the beginning of the animatic, that doesn't mean he's sane. I mean, Dib's behavior in the beginning of Issue 1/Florpus is scarily close to extreme cases of paranoid schizophrenia (the term is no longer in use and Dib would actually be a childhood schizophrenic, but let's not go there). It gets even worse when you remember Dib literally IS working under the delusion that if he leaves the monitor for a second Zim will immediately do something. Paranoia in general is not a fun feeling - imagine living in constant terror, scared that the entire universe is out to get you and if you can't control everything you're going to die. It's an intense situation that completely destroys any chance of feeling happy or fulfilled with life. Spending weeks if not months seeped in pure, neverending terror is absolutely horrifying. It's especially horrifying that Zim, an alien, was able to perfectly predict Dib would act out that way despite being so far from normal behavior for... life in general, not just humans. The fact even ZIM could pick up on how severe Dib's obsession is and the levels he'll go suggests Dib may have done this kind of thing before, albeit on a much lesser extent. Back to the point about Dib's father, Professor Membrane fully knew Dib was acting in a very unhealthy manner and didn't seem to care. The fact he doesn't call mental health services despite Dib becoming a legitimate danger to himself is beyond neglectful. It makes Membrane look like someone who only cares about Dib's "insanity" when it's affecting his reputation, as the only difference here from other times where Dib is acting paranoid (besides it being much worse) is the fact that Dib is hiding from the rest of humanity. This is one aspect where Enter the Florpus actually makes Membrane's behavior WORSE as in the original version of this plot, Membrane at least knew what his son was doing. However, in Florpus he casually states "oh well, at least he's not dealing with paranormal stuff" which is so blatantly false that it becomes clear Membrane never even bothered to check on his son. He seemed pretty content in Dib just hiding in his room forever. It's part of the reason I honestly don't buy the idea Membrane is this caring but flawed father and feel like Florpus was less addressing the abuse in Dib's home life and moreso pretending it doesn't exist (while ironically keeping the neglect implications of this plot, making it fail even at that). Membrane saying he's proud of Dib is sweet and all, but frankly I can't see it with how his actual character is, especially in the original show. The way the professor constantly calls his own son insane to his face borders on emotional abuse and I just can't ignore that. The worst thing though is that in the end, it's revealed Dib didn't even realize what the crap he'd done. He was so far out of reality that when he's pulled back in by Zim's return he's disgusted with himself and his actions. There does seem to be a part of Dib that deep down believes everyone else is right and he's legitimately annoying and insane. Having that confirmed all at once is one hell of an epiphany. Worse yet, in the case of the comic version of this storyline, Zim uses Dib's borderline psychosis to humiliate him across several galaxies, likely as a way to enact Dib's own goals for Zim (surveillance followed by exposure) against him. Dib ends that issue alone, crying because his reputation has been ruined even more than it already was. The poor kid had his mental state completely taken advantage of only to be blamed for something he couldn't even tell was wrong (at the time) and nobody bothered to help him improve against. And this kind of thing actually happens in real life. Invader Zim in general gets scarily accurate in terms of how it portrays ableism. It doesn't hide shit and shows it in all its disgusting glory. And, while never explicitly stated, the show makes it very clear that the way Dib is treated is wrong and the people who harass him are assholes. It's surprisingly rare to see mental health discrimination portrayed in universe and have it be treated as inhumane. It's even rarer to see discrimination against the severely mentally ill shown as incorrect despite how rampant it is. At the end of the day, regardless of whether Dib is actually schizophrenic or not, he's still presumed by humanity to be and their treatment still has a clear impact on his self image and emotional state. There's a reason Dib is so desperate to finally be respected. Yet the show treats him as a person in his own right. He has goals, he has hobbies, he has feelings, and struggles and relationships. If anything, Dib is the single MOST developed and human character on the show. In a way, the shows handling of the subject is absolutely beautiful and one of the most real takes on living with a mental health issue. Sorry for this long diatribe - this animatic just perfectly encapsulates a lot of my thoughts about the plotline and what it means for Dib as a whole. I completely agree with everything you've said here.. You know what would be a really interesting alternate universe of Invader Zim? One where Dib does not recognize that Zim is an alien. He's still gung-ho about aliens existing, and Zim is constantly paranoid that Dib figured him out, but Dib is convinced that Zim is human.
Love this. Now I’m just wondering how pissed dib really is to find out zim has been in a toilet after all this hard work of stalking his house aggressively
The best way to describe his anger is calling over your friends to tell them that you have just bought $1000 worth of explosive fireworks that shoot up 500 ft into the air and make giant colorful cock in the sky. Naturally, everyone is excited and ready. It's been taking hours to get the fireworks up, everyone is bored out of their mind, and there is not enough booze for them to wait patiently. Finally, after all that hard work, you finally have the fireworks ready, and they start flying in circles on the ground, making farting noises and shoot into the neighbor's dog. That is how it felt. (Btw that was from Rank10ygo)
Probably the best animatic I’ve seen in a looong time, I love how this could be an introduction to how the movie came to be, how Dib became a chair. So bothered that the closest thing he has to a friend is suddenly just gone and absent. Beautiful.
This was one of the best animatics I have ever seen. The song choice and your art work really bring the characters to life. You did a fantastic job of keeping everything so in character to the show. Such an A+ video all around!
Not that well because I think if the movie was more serious and this animatic happened Dib would have went rabid when knowing that Zim was laughing in a toilet for a year or two
This really brings more emotion into Dib as a character because we don't really see what really happens at home with Dib! We are mostly in Zim's perspective so this brings a lot of life to Dib! Great work!
There's something so much more driving when you see his slow descent into madness over zim in comparison to just a cut from normal to not and back again. If Dib was real, I would be his friend because he deserves one.
Aaah, perfect! The song fits so well, and I just adore how expressive everything is. Not just the characters, but the camera angles, the compositions, all of them. Keep up the good work! :D

It's sad knowing that Zim and Dib are the only people that really look out for each other. Gir looks out for them as well, but he mostly does his own stuff.
This works _really_ well as a IZ:EtF prequel! I especially like foreshadowing(?) of Membrane's growth as a -involved- good father. And how Zim gets the idea for phase 1 by seeing how Dib overthinks his absences from school. This is so good! So well drawn & fits so nicely into the current canon! (also, the blink-182 gives me middle school flashbacks)
I like to think that while in zim's absence Dib wondered if Zim really wasn't real but then decided that can't be true, that he's just planning something
Yo so, legit one of my fav songs so hearing that pared with this AMAZING story for the animatic is phenomenal 10/10 and now I’m Sure I love you now. Keep up the awesome work yo!!
This is so amazing on so many levels, the art, the use of the song, the story, it’s all wonderful! Everything about this also gives me throwbacks to peak Zim culture of like 2008-2010 with amvs and stuff being made with music like this. I love it!!
this animatic- the art and shading- perfect and so clean- style wise it's like the same as Invader Zim if not a little more in depth, and the storyboarding to the song is so fitting, fluent, and clever. This is just underated, like wowwwza
I feel so so bad for Dib, he's completely right about aliens and no one believes him because all the adults are clueless. Also, this art is amazing I could watch this animatic over and over!
I love how everyone seems to bring up how zim said he was in a toilet for 2 years but like in the series im at least 60 % sure he used the toilet and the garbage can to get into his lab under his base so he meant his lab most likely and just didnt want to outright say he was in his lab? I mean it's possible? I don't know

If you think about it, zim and dib are probably the closest thing either of them have to a friend Yes I know that they hate each other but they are also the only ones who actually talk to each other without just saying they are crazy They in a way give each other a purpose for living, dib in the sense that he gives zim someone to fight against and constantly be challenged by, and zim because he is living proof of everything dib believes and also views zim as his only real challenge And believe me if all you do is live for a challenge when the one person who could be that challenge disappears you start feeling empty
This is absolutely amazing, and it ties into the movie perfectly! This is a wonderful animatic, and I look forward to whatever you have in store next!!
Man, to believe the movie was entirely based off of the comic books and no one even mentioned that, also this is so freaking good and well drawn, gotta be one of my favs.

One where Dib does not recognize that Zim is an alien. He's still gung-ho about aliens existing, and Zim is constantly paranoid that Dib figured him out, but Dib is convinced that Zim is human.
THAT IS THE COOLEST AU IDEA EVER!!!!
When dib said: where’s my mother?
I just felt so bad immediately.. like that’s so depressing
When did he say that??
@@morganiae 2:25 ish
This makes sense, we've never seen his mother. That hits people hard when they realize- we haven't ever seen Dib's mom.
@@xanthixeclipse That's because Jhonen says Dib is a clone of Membrane
@@morganiae I've been told that idea was abounded with the movie
1:23 That Alright gets me every time
Probably the best animatic I’ve seen in a looong time, I love how this could be an introduction to how the movie came to be, how Dib became a chair. So bothered that the closest thing he has to a friend is suddenly just gone and absent. Beautiful.
Zim while did is in his room trying to figure out where he is: "im on the toilet hope the ice cream don't melt b*tch"
Wow the parts with membrane made me a little sad, actually
This was one of the best animatics I have ever seen. The song choice and your art work really bring the characters to life. You did a fantastic job of keeping everything so in character to the show. Such an A+ video all around!
can only agree what they say this is amazing
They could've actually used this as the intro to Flourpus and it would've worked so well.
Not that well because I think if the movie was more serious and this animatic happened Dib would have went rabid when knowing that Zim was laughing in a toilet for a year or two
@@thiswowzer3217 like 15 years
This really brings more emotion into Dib as a character because we don't really see what really happens at home with Dib! We are mostly in Zim's perspective so this brings a lot of life to Dib! Great work!
man, this actually makes me feel real bad for dib now
I love how he’s aggressive towards his dad
Yes
HE THINKS IM CRAZY!! AND IM *NOT* CRAZY!!
Thank you for being so attached to the series, without ships.
Really, thanks. I love this animatic
This is, to this day, definitely one of my favourite IZ animatics.
And I just realized the thing CIA Jhonen was holding was a straightjacket. Man.
Invader Zim was my favorite cartoon when I was 12 years old. Thank you for the nostalgia!
I need that fan fiction where zim and dib are friendsssssss
Well, you're in luck my friend, as this is like 60-70 % of what the fandom writes. May I recommend "Parade of Indignities" by RissyNicole : archiveofourown.org/works/13840212/chapters/31830555
or "saving Zim" by dib07: www.fanfiction.net/s/12356995/1/Saving-Zim
the first few chapters also available on UA-cam in audio form: ua-cam.com/video/0ROf0HiWFOE/v-deo.html
(I know it's been 5 months, and your IZ hype probably went down, but just in case you ever decide to come back...)
No
@@cawareyoudoin7379 Why you gotta give us the dark and depressing ones man?? I wanted some friendship fluff but I got Zim slowly dying TWICE
@@BlueSkyBirdies I'm so sorry! I like me some angst, what can I say. But I really like angst with some comfort, so...
Hey, maybe you'll like Bamsara's cryptid hunting series? It's a bit zadr-ish, but it can also totally be interpreted as friendship.
@@cawareyoudoin7379 Lol yeah no worries! I'm quite acquainted with the cryptid-hunting series. Reading it literally right now as a matter of fact! I don't really like ZADR but you're right that it's subtle enough in the early entries to easily pass as ZADF.
God, ten year old me would have SCREAMED - this is so gooooood!!!!!!
You seem to be screaming anyways XD
This is the exact type of representation the invader zim community needs, this animatic is AMAZING!
Finished the movie . Now I want to binge watch every content related to invader zim! I freaking love this show!! 😍😍😆😆
I love the interpretation of the beforehand of Enter The Floropus. I also feel bad for Pr. Membrane, I mean, he tried so hard but just couldn't connect that Dib wanted support. Overall, me like, great job. :)
literally two of my favorite things, this is such a vibe my dude
This is one of the best, I think even THE BEST, Invader Zim animatics I've seen. Not a single dull moment to be found here. I adore the art style you went with; It looks incredibly similar to the show, but at the same time I see your own style in it. Perfect mix. An awesome animatic, especially for a first attempt at one... Hope to see more from you!
this is the most early 2000s song of all time
Yeah it is even though it came out in 97
It's sad knowing that Zim and Dib are the only people that really look out for each other.
(also, the blink-182 gives me middle school flashbacks)
best music selection
Jesus christ, this is actually amazing. Great art, great song, 11/10 would recommend and show to all my friends and family.
That one dislike is Zim because the video wasn't about him xd
This is so cool!!!
92 zims ._.
99 Zims
110 zims
zim made 119 accounts out of pettiness
@@mothsgarden he deleted two of those accounts-
I actually have no words...
I’m generally not one for animatics, but this is honestly top tier
I like to think that while in zim's absence Dib wondered if Zim really wasn't real but then decided that can't be true, that he's just planning something
And *THIS* it's because Dib is my favorite in the show....
I can't express with words how much I love this
As someone with a dad who is somewhat always there, but never understanding
Dib is exactly everything I can relate to and this video makes me happy
Yo so, legit one of my fav songs so hearing that pared with this AMAZING story for the animatic is phenomenal 10/10 and now
I’m
Sure I love you now. Keep up the awesome work yo!!
This is so amazing on so many levels, the art, the use of the song, the story, it’s all wonderful! Everything about this also gives me throwbacks to peak Zim culture of like 2008-2010 with amvs and stuff being made with music like this. I love it!!
I'm living off this
Omg.......the art is so beatiful! My eyes are even tearing a bit
this animatic- the art and shading- perfect and so clean- style wise it's like the same as Invader Zim if not a little more in depth, and the storyboarding to the song is so fitting, fluent, and clever. This is just underated, like wowwwza
This song fits so perfectly it’s crazy
THIS SONG FITS PERFECTLY WITH THE SHOW AND SO DOES THE ANIMATIC! WHAT THE HECK THIS IS AMAZING
This is pretty much accurate since you know, I have to live with him.
This came out so well I wouldn't change a thing! Woow!
Weird how the song fits so well with his story- hehe
I love the depth in this!! Perfectly ties the original series, the comics, and EtF together. One of the best IZ animatics I've ever seen.
I feel so so bad for Dib, he's completely right about aliens and no one believes him because all the adults are clueless. Also, this art is amazing I could watch this animatic over and over!
I always envisioned this song with Invader Zim. Great job. 👌
You have 2 videos up and you already have 10 thousand subscribers. I respect that.
GOSH I ADORE THIS. YOUR EXPRESSIONS ARE JUST FANTASTIC
I love how everyone seems to bring up how zim said he was in a toilet for 2 years but like in the series im at least 60 % sure he used the toilet and the garbage can to get into his lab under his base so he meant his lab most likely and just didnt want to outright say he was in his lab? I mean it's possible? I don't know
oh i like how the end is the start of the comic/movie and its about zim going missing at the end yes very cool
This is so well done I'm literally blown away, your art style is just awesome
CRYING THIS IS LITEALLY SO AMAZIBG LIKE I WAS LITERALLY LISTENING TO THIS SONG AND THINKING ABOUT AN ANIMATIC YOU MAD EEVERYTHING SO PERFECT ITS INCREDIBLY PERFECT EVEN THE STYLE IS SO COOL AND THE BEST FRIEND PART IS SO SAD BECAUSE LIKE😭😭😭😭💔💔BRO REALLY NEEDS FRIENDS😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔THEY PARALLEL EACH OTEHR SM ITS INSANE (not shipping😭😭)
this fandom is GREAT and also TERRIBLE because anything you want to make an animatic for SOMEONE ELSE HAS ALREADY DONE IT BEFORE YOU
AND THEY'VE DONE IT SPECTACULARLY TOO
I love the artstyle of this so much with the way you used the blacks and grays, it's REALLY good and I love how you've made this all! Love it
one of the best animatics I've seen in a while. Love the character relationships shown through animation this is really good work.
"Where's my mother,- biofather" MMh, i felt that
I love this on every aspects. Great animatic--
If you think about it, zim and dib are probably the closest thing either of them have to a friend
Yes I know that they hate each other but they are also the only ones who actually talk to each other without just saying they are crazy
They in a way give each other a purpose for living, dib in the sense that he gives zim someone to fight against and constantly be challenged by, and zim because he is living proof of everything dib believes and also views zim as his only real challenge
And believe me if all you do is live for a challenge when the one person who could be that challenge disappears you start feeling empty
*"where's my mother?"*
Yeah, where *IS* your mother?
This is absolutely amazing, and it ties into the movie perfectly! This is a wonderful animatic, and I look forward to whatever you have in store next!!
This song fits unbelievably well with Dib
IT IS I Z- Oh wait get out of her ugly Goblin im posing Dramatically for the Dib. Dib: I am Dib
Zim: Oh UH EH. I'VE BEEN EXPECTING YOU DIB!
Dib: I can see that... you set up sprinklers and everything...
This is fantastic!!! The classroom scene with both Dib and Zim and the scene with the Massive are so well drawn!
Poor zim...i think dib would act like this if zim was gone like mopiness,of doom
The ending reminds me of the "Every breath you take" Animatic.
that is a really good video to
i love this with my whole hartttt
This is the best thing I've seen today
I watch this every day.. It's just so perfect 😔💕
Holy shit I actually love this so much. Your art style is amazing!!!!!!
Man, to believe the movie was entirely based off of the comic books and no one even mentioned that, also this is so freaking good and well drawn, gotta be one of my favs.
**me looking at my closet at 3:00AM**
Me: *Don't you dare closet-*
Shoot, this is good and actually making me tremble
*pressing like button one thousand times* Seriously, my teachers at UVU would be proud.
Zim's creepy smile is just adorable to me
your first attempt was amazing btw. love it 100000000000000/100 uvu
i cant believe you managed to make chair dib emotional
This animatic is everything I ever want to be. I love this. Dib is cute, Zim is even cuter, THE BACKGROUNDS, GOSH, THE BACKGROUNDS. You did an amazing job!
This is such a freaking awesome animation!!!! Great job!! You made the video in such a way where we could FEEL what Dib was feeling!!! I applaud your hard work!
Wait this fandoms still alive! Yay!
STOP RIGHT NOW THIS IS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY AND I AM BEYOND GLAD THAT UA-cam SHOWED THIS TO ME THANK YOU
*its just a phase, dad!*
THIS IS GORGEOUS! It looks so polished, and those different perspectives are amazing! It just captures Dibs emotioms too well
This literally made me so happy cause this is SO GOOD!!!!
this explains so much.Just how enter the florpus started.
And the comic series
hey I read!tbem
THIS IS AMAZING, keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!!
this explains the whole entire invader zim series
Really Really Good!! I totally find it to fit Invader Zim PeRfEcTlY!! Keep up the good work!!
Beautiful art I gotta say :D
Dude, this is incredible!! I love this video and how perfectly you incorporated the events in the series/movie into the lyrics of the song! You deserve way more subscribers.
Every once in a while I come back to watch this over again aaa this is so good
