King of quail sir There is no video in the market more clearly then urs thank u. Im prepare to oppen small quail egg farm in Philippines. Thanks for the big help
This is just superb, I have been researching "raising quail in your backyard" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a good exclusive guide for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the normal expense. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got great results with it.
Can you do a video (or have you done one?) on what a beginner should have for care of their quail? If you could put together a kit for maintenance and emergencies, what would be in it?--without the answer always being to cull.
How long do they live after they go to the retirement home? I don’t have the nerve up to harvest them yet, so I need to build a retirement community I guess. Handy breakdown 👍🏻
I keep all my quail divided into 3-4 groups/houses. Hatchlings, Youth with Elderly, Regular guys, In Need of rest guys or old or too small in size, plus surplus males on the floor now ab 30 in number because of the said lack of my will to kill. In spring they will be in the aviary and possibly kept together. My eldest female quail seems blind. She is only 2 yrs old, but she is kept with the youth at the age of puberty and she is doing great or even reliving her prime.
I keep Coturnix-Japanese-etc. With the Chinese and it is great and more fun. My quaillove diff shelves, stairs and hiding places. The Chinese treat the big ones as heaters :)
I am new to quail raising, about one year now, and your info is really good and well presented. Thank you! In the comments here I see you refer to a "feeding video" and I would be very interested in that. However, even with subscribing to your channel, I do not see that video. Could you please post the url?
My quail are laying loads of eggs for the last couple of months and you recommended adding more calcium with lower protein for their diet. I feed them 22% protein now but the feed contains only 1.5% calcium. I do feed the baked egg shells back to them but I've noticed I get shell-less eggs every once in awhile. When I do give them the egg shells, they dive into it like they are starving so they must need more calcium. How do you add calcium to your birds diet? I know at my grain store they sell oyster shell for chickens but the pieces are much too big for my quail to eat. I've already wrecked my coffee grinder trying to grind them smaller. I've also checked out ground oyster shell but its sold as fertilizer. Is that safe to feed quail? Thank you so much for your advice. I really enjoy your informative videos and I love my quail I hatched from your eggs.
An alternative if you do want to give them more calcium, is to use a hammer to make that oyster shell bits smaller - eg stick a bunch in a thick bag or something and hold it closed & just whack it. Should work quite well.
Do you change the protein from day 1 to day 56? Like a 24% baby feed 28% teen feed and back to a 24% or do you go lower than 24% and do a 20% layer feed after on day 57?
@@MyshireFarm okay I watched that one and I wrote the percentage down min/max and I am hoping to find something local that will be similar to that. I did speak to my local mill and they have a few to choose from, so I will be heading out to do some research on them. I was just curious if there was a recent change that they seemed to do better with. Thank you!

Hi. We are in the process of moving from Pa to Az. I realize your in Oh but I havent been able to find info on them concerning heat. I will only set 2 birds per foot because of the heat in Tucson Az. I want to raise these manily for dog food. Any suggestions/comments will be appreciated. Thanks
So, what happens at the end of the 2 years? Do they actually just die of old age then, or?
They are just not productive
Another great informative video. Thank you Zack!🐣🌺🐣
Thanks for watching

Zack - what's the typical lifespan for a quail? I have chickens and know it varies a lot, so maybe that's an unreasonable question!
2 years for production
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching
Awesome and informative THank You!!
Thanks for watching
When are they too old to go to freezer camp? Can you process at 1 yr?
You can. They are not like chickens. They do get a little tougher meat when they are older but not a lot at all. So still good to eat at year old
When, WHen, WHEN? Will the jumbo wild hatching eggs be available again? Thanks Zack, love your channel!
They will be back on the website by Thursday. I promise. Just don’t want to overpromise and under deliver
Thanks Zach!
Great info thank you!

Hii bro , I have a 3 month old female and about 20 days ago, I brought a male and how much time do it takes them to mate lay eggs ..?
They will mate within a few min but for the eggs to be fertile it is best to wait a week. It could be as soon as 3 days but a week is a best practice

sandra shumilla if you are not getting shell-less eggs daily I would not worry about it. If they are consistently laying good eggs the feed is good

very helpful

No we do not. We actually did a video on our feed that might help. We did a close up of our feed ingredients and % and talk about when we switch over

Great info. Please go alittle deeper into protien and calcium percentages at each of these 5 stages of life.
We actually did a video on our feed and gave you a comparison to our starter and then our breeder that might help
