I’ve read both positive and negative comments in here and all I can say is this: I was 2 years old in 1976 and my father finally gave in and bought me my first record that wasn’t children’s songs and it was Helen Reddy. ❤ I lost my father to cancer last year and of course Helen left us in 2020. Let’s just strip everything away for a moment and look at the fact that this incredible legend was already 2 years into her dementia diagnosis when this was filmed. Her voice was amazing as it’s an incredible gift she was born with. Please be kind to each other. As
For the meaning of the song and where it was performed: you can have whatever opinion you want but just remember: if it wasn’t for the women’s movement that Helen was a part of, or the suffragettes in the late 19th and early 20th century, you wouldn’t be entitled to an opinion at all that you so choose to voice. My mom and aunt fought for choice , equal pay and equality they taught me to love this song and continue to fight for women's rights. My mom and aunt would be in their 90s.
This incredible woman has been singing this anthem for decades, yet the equal rights amendment has never been passed.

What a surprise! Yes, she moved into an assisted living home about two years ago but just listen to that voice! Exactly as it was decades ago, strong and distinctive, God less her.
She had children and grandchild and had to live in a Assist. living facility? sad!

Ms. Reddy, at age 75, still sings her songs in the original keys that she sang back the in late 60s/early 70s. She's a remarkable woman. Very few remarkable people support Trump/Putin it seems. Couldn't get anyone to sing at his so called Inauguration.

+Alicia Richards -- FYI --- She was VERY HAPPILY retired in Australia in what she said herself, "The BEST DAYS of her life". She retired from Hollywood in the 1980s and never looked back. Now that she has early Dementia. her CHILDREN moved her back to the states to care for her.. She is NOT involved in US politics.. She was asked to sing her famous song and she DID.. She probably had no idea about the bunch of clowns (and their "pussy hats") that she did it for. If people used their computers for their ACTUAL intension and did some research before spewing off, the world could be a better place.. But it's easier to criticize an ill woman for what she may POSSIBLY have no idea WHY and WHO she was doing it for. I guess people have computers/cell phones with Internet to only tear people down.
