i love being a new Zealander but most of all being maori seing our people doing the haka is about who we are as a people our culture and our pride and as a country....
+Olivia Kelly his name is Shannon Paku went to a Maori boys high school known for doing haka well played against him a few times over the years when were teens
I started watching Rugby when I watched the Haka and I'm an All Blacks fan for my sins. I love those guys. They're fierce before, during and after performance
This is the Maori all blacks the reason Maori is in the name is cause off this reason,Maori all blacks is a team of people with Maori blood and heritage that can be verified, the all blacks is a team for all New Zealand citizens. Maori all blacks are the best native pacific island team in history. We too good to play the other island teams every year, the losing was starting to make their records look more average, we we asked to leave the comp, in return get a spring series and autum internationals. More Maori in the normal all blacks then all the other islands combine, read a roster from the past and present , can tell you just a small poly trying to big lol. Maori can play any position, I never seen a great or even good island first five or half back, were as Maori, or first and halves are the worlds best. Our outside backs are smart and physical and our forwards are uncompromising and intelligent , the rest of the islander rugby players seem dumb, cause off silly mistake and amateur moves. Makes me wounded how they got to the top level, like luaiki, what a dumb fuck he was lol. Good too see that the coaches in nz rugby have finally noticed how dumb they are and reduced the amount off dumb cunts in the abs, and wallla we got. Our win rate back up to 90%
Why can't they film Haka from a fixed point ? so we could see it as the opponents see it, and not from all those different angles. I don't care to see the face of ONE man, I want to see the whole team dammit! >
Maori team looks stacked, hosea gear, piri weepu, isaac ross, hikawera elliot, leeam messam, tamati ellison, latimer tanerau etc the last Maori team had nothing on this team
i'm an Indian and we all love Haka, Cheers to ALL BLACKS, i dont know y some hate or disrespect Haka? i think any guy who have a tradition and proud of it will definetly enjoy ALL BLACKS HAKA.
I love how the maori take the pre-game rituals so seriously. I especially how they baited the tongans to go first just so that they could have the last word. good stuff.
@rbsadler hey it was a genuine question and its good to see questions rather than assumptions. Tongans do live in nz where maori are native but the culture is very different. Their challege is called sipi tau and the nz one is haka. This haka is called timatanga and tells how we will stand strong and firm striving to win and to the lengths we ll go to achieve it. Not sure with the tongas but would think its pretty similar.
Where on earth are their supporters - the fans? How sorry to walk out onto the field and see the stands nearly empty. Sad. Maybe the seat fee is way too high. :(
Good luck this year, I love Los puma. I'm Maori and I thoroughly enjoy your style off play, very similar to our style, great set piece, tough uncompromising and straight. One off the toughest coward packs walking this earth. Leguizamon, tuculet, crevvy are all in my world fifteen and I hope your nations World Cup campaign is a successful one . Peace brother
Football teams in the USA should have a similar tradition.. It would be great to get the team pumped up before the game.. The main objective being to Psych your opponents out..
i went to a football camp in UO this week ( just got back) and some somoans straght from american somoa came, and in the end of the camp when they were giving awards they showed us their haka. its fucking badass! best thing i ever seen lol
+brokeskull616 Same here, I want to start using this along with peaceful protest and hunger strikes to send a strong statement of resistance. It seems like it might be better for us to have our own US version though, I think if I was Maori I would not want my culture used by American's for non-Maori business. Maybe we should make our own 'Maori inspired' war dance, without being the exact same as the Haka. Maybe an Apache/Maori fusion, to celebrate and honor their warrior cultures?
this is just intense. i have friends that are both tongan and soman and they do this before football games. im white and i think its the coolest shit ever. i dont understand it but i appreciate what it means to them and they way they share it with everyone else.
KIA WIRI! TU WHAKAMAUA! KIA TINA! Tina! Hui e! Taiki e!! I TE TĪMATANGA KO TE KORE* Ko Te Pō-nui Ko Te Pō-roa Ia, ha ha! Wehenga mātua** Herenga tāngata He toa rangatahi He toa rangatira. that is awesome, i keep trying to do it! But as you can probably tell, it fails! But that was still awesome and I still pause the telly when it comes on so i can get ready to join inxxxx
Silly question maybe, but in the old days, before a battle, when one tribe did the haka what was the traditional response? Was it wait politely while the other tribe did "their" haka or charge on in while the testosterone was sky high and commence battle?
the Sipi Tau was penned by King Tama Tu'i Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV in 1994, but its origins can be traced back much further. In Tonga in the pre-1800s there were no challenges before war. Indeed talking was considered a sign of weakness in battle.
@SAPCmafi umm actually NZ Maori won this game. They went undefeated in the Pacific nations comp that year. I was there when they beat Australia A in the final.
Part 2. I have heard theories that the idians entered America through the northern russia/alaska passage. I have also heard theories that people came to Australia/New Zeeland by boats from Indonesia. You probably have a better knowledge of that though, since you are from NZ. Anyway, since the definition of native is somewhat like original habitants of an area I would say, yes - the maori are native. Europeans came into the picture much much later on as far as I know. Sorry for the essay!
These are real men, Maori natives and Spartans are the most manly groups i know of.
Brianbby don't forget the vikings and the samurai warriors man

I get goose bumps watching them. Amazing!
I started watching Rugby when I watched the Haka and I'm an All Blacks fan for my sins. I love those guys. They're fierce before, during and after performance
Moral of this story... don't try to call out the All Blacks when it comes to the Haka.
Its New Zealand maori. Not all blacks :P

Honestly, I think all of us would be happy spending a whole day watching stuff like this.
Why can't they film Haka from a fixed point ? so we could see it as the opponents see it, and not from all those different angles.
I don't care to see the face of ONE man, I want to see the whole team dammit! >
Chur to my Tongan brothers from Nz.

魂の叫び、涙が止まりません。
i love watching nz rugby, the haka is such a precursor to the game, it creates tension and sets the mood for the game.
Muito Lindo!!!! BAKANA DE MAIS, Nossa Seleção deveria entrar com esse espirito!!!!

i wish i was able to go back in time just to see how intense the haka was before a battle.
I love that. They are so manly! ❤
i'm an Indian and we all love Haka, Cheers to ALL BLACKS, i dont know y some hate or disrespect Haka? i think any guy who have a tradition and proud of it will definetly enjoy ALL BLACKS HAKA.
I love how the maori take the pre-game rituals so seriously. I especially how they baited the tongans to go first just so that they could have the last word. good stuff.
Should've been a packed stadium (arena?) to see not only the match but this brilliant, awe inspiring opening ceremony.

guy at the front actually looks like he wants to eat someone. for everyone wanting to jump on the haka band wagon, thats how u do it
aww thats inspiring maybe oneday when you visit newzealand ! and theres heaps of opportuinities here to meet them
In some cases they have done it at the same time, in some cases the Haka is first and the Sipi tau is second and sometimes its the other way around.
もやは人間じゃない。かっこ良すぎる
I don't know what they took before that game, but i definitely want some of it too !!
Why is Haka not a global trend yet, cant understand it !
Puts, não canso de ver. Insano mesmo!!!
Minhas pernas até tremem uhuuu maori ❤
I never cared too much for Hakas till I left nz
luv it, miss it should have learnt it
@TheSigler88 there are many types, with different chants. There is no single 'haka' used, although some are used more than others.
All these views is just to see the Maori boys lols

@TheSuperMoco es una danza tradicional Maorí, para asustar al enemigo
Be proud of it! Your country kicks ass!
Where on earth are their supporters - the fans? How sorry to walk out onto the field and see the stands nearly empty. Sad. Maybe the seat fee is way too high. :(
awesome!
Really awesome!!!
i'm argentinian but the haka is really spectacular.

what is the name of the guy in the front! He`s really good at this!
I would love to see this in person.. Beasting!!
Silly question maybe, but in the old days, before a battle, when one tribe did the haka what was the traditional response? Was it wait politely while the other tribe did "their" haka or charge on in while the testosterone was sky high and commence battle?
it's called Timatanga, which means beginning
@UHtiger Thank you! :)
is the inevitable tradition of New Zealanders before a game ... trying to intimidate the opponent ... and they succeed!
Its a shame that there was hardly anyone in the stands when this happened
the Sipi Tau was penned by King Tama Tu'i Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV in 1994, but its origins can be traced back much further. In Tonga in the pre-1800s there were no challenges before war. Indeed talking was considered a sign of weakness in battle.
Simply - "THE BEST" Haka,
EVER.😌
Tonga is my country
@siblingforsale LMFAO!!!! Really laughing my ASS off right now!!!! I had to go back and see who you were talking about!!! Funny shit!!!
they're traditional dances they used to do before their enemy prior to battles, they do it today to intimidate the other team.
All Blacks wins the cheerleading contest hands down XD
@SAPCmafi umm actually NZ Maori won this game. They went undefeated in the Pacific nations comp that year. I was there when they beat Australia A in the final.
