I'm 55 this year (2023) and I've always liked KISS. My first KISS record was "I Was Made For Loving You" when I was 11 in 1979 and I remember much of my life involving something KISS here and there, but never LOVED them. But oddly enough, this year is my first year of actual collecting KISS. I went out and bought all of their remastered CDs, got the box set, pulled out my mother's original 70's KISS dolls that I remember helping her collect in the 70s (all in original boxes in mint condition), and I'm spending hours on YT watching classic concerts. I'm even beginning to appreciate the unmasked years more than I did back in the day. My wife bought me my first-ever KISS t-shirt for my birthday last April. I've never enjoyed collecting one rock band my entire life.
Seriously, this is the best interview I have seen in a long time. There are other hosts I really enjoy, but this one was really so well done. So much cool and interesting history on Kiss. I had no idea regarding the roots of the Kiss Army. This collection is absolutely unreal. Simmons was truly a marketing war machine. See what I did there? ;) 😜🤘✌️ John seems very intelligent, well spoken, patient and articulate. He's very humble and grounded. Great host as well, genuine and listens intensely. Job well done 👍 I like this style and manner of interviewing. It's very real, genuine, not edited and so nothing is taken out of context or trying to follow a narrative or agenda. Nothing attempting to portray a particular viewpoint or storyline.
John is the perfect example of what a driven individual can do and be....super talented, grounded, and can rock and shred....and love KISS, what more ya need
Genes 1974 outfit is the holy grail !! Awesome. Bought my first item when I was a kid Kiss Alive 1976. Been to 7 shows 1977 and 1979 and 1996-1997. Philly balt, wash dc , pittsburgh and Virginia. We followed them alot that stretch.xmas in 1977 I broke in to the guess bedroom and all our presents were rapped but I found Kiss alive 2 album and I couldn't wait I listen to it and it was awesome then I re raped it. Kiss will always be my guys !! By 1986 I was into Dokken. I love metal.
John 5 seems like a really cool guy. I'm not surprised a lot of musos invite him into their bands and recordings. He's obviously super-talented and good company as well.
WOW! I knew John 5 was a Kiss Fan but I didn't imagine he was such a MASSIVE KISS ARMY SOLDIER! 0_0 I'm SOOOOO IMPRESSED! I saw a Kiss show beside John in New Jersey during The Farewell Tour, I hope I can meet him again someday and chat Kiss like there's no tomorrow! Actually during the recent Motley Crue show in Milan (2023), John wore a t-shirt which I personally noticed immediately... black, with a white skull, a clear reference to Mr Gene Simmons early 70s! KUDOS John!...
What a great interview! Many of us had these experiences when we were getting into music, KISS was something way beyond rock and pop etc. Just as soon as you think you have your head round it, another revelation comes along..!

That was so much fun, as a KISS fan my jaw dropped to see John's collection, especially the dolls he has from Montreal, i'm a french canadian from Montreal and still live here. I'm 48 years old and been a KISS fan since i was 7.
I’m not a KISS fan but this collection is absolutely amazing. With a band like KISS, there isn’t much difficulty in assembling a large amount of “stuff”, but John has the stuff that really counts. That first KISS flag, the stage worm costumes, Gene drawn concept art…what an awesome collection.
I love old Rock memorabilia and have a lot of Zeppelin stuff, but the first four KISS albums are still the bedrock that my love of rock and roll is built on. I'm amazed that he has outfit stuff from 1974. Most of that collection does nothing for me, but some of it gets my pulse racing, ha ha. Very impressed with John 5 as an incredible player and solid guy.

This was great. Thanks, for sharing John! Not sure why more people didn't thumb this up. Seeing the collection itself is worth that. I'm trying to think what the most unusual item is he showed us. I'm going to say the typing paper. I mean why would anyone make paper unless it would be a fan club or promotion from the record company. This was very interesting! Coincidentally, I just watched the live show at (drawing a blank & don't wanna check) Manchester?? IDK, but the guy had front row. Even knowing the set list & what to expect, I enjoyed it. Now, I'm wondering if there's a comprehensive list somewhere of every KISS item ever made. That might be impossible. John, saving bees in your pool shows you have a kind heart. Just saved a Katydid & a Cicada. Yes, those big red eyed flying creatures. They're fascinating. Just had a relatable moment. Also, often when I look at people I think they have a story. They could be going through something rough. It's a good mind set to have. Helps us humans be more compassionate. If I could have, I would have been a Hee Haw Honey. Sitting on the front porch with Wonder Dog.
That Gene costume I wish somebody could take an estimate of what that would be worth that’s the one from the Mike Douglas show and all of those amazing performances
Those Bootleg Gene Simmons Ben Cooper masks were availiable at stores all over the place during Oct. in the 80's. They had green faces, pink faces, black hair, orange hair, red hair, rainbow hair. An actual "bat" design covered the eyes. In 1980 Ben Cooper redesigned the mask to make it more Gene like to be use as actual KISS merch for the Austrailian Tour.
Nice to hear John talk about sonder at around the 35min mark. I feel it's a type of philosophical altruism to think idly about the complexity of others' lives.

Whoa, didn't know Christina worked for Revolver.
Ps John 5 is probably the best instrumental show I’ve been too
That Gene costume I wish somebody could take an estimate of what that would be worth that’s the one from the Mike Douglas show and all of those amazing performances
Sebastian Bach would probably lose his mind if he toured John 5's collection.
I have a guitar behind me that is your signature guitar black
John 5 has the best KISS collection ever. Also, good dude.
Woooooooow ❤❤❤❤❤
Nice to hear John talk about sonder at around the 35min mark. I feel it's a type of philosophical altruism to think idly about the complexity of others' lives.
