- If you've ever taken an interest in the Justice League comics because of the cartoon or even the new movie; I've compiled a list of my MUST read graphic novels and a couple of good jumping on points for new readers. Was there a book you didn't agree with or would have added to the video?

The Obsidian Age is the most underrated Justice League story ever. I love it too. Always been one of my favorite stories
Nightwing is my 2nd favorite DC character behind Superman. So him being the leader of that JL team in the story was always a pleasure to me. Nightwing is probably the best leader in the DC Universe
Hey Omar! I totally agree with you about "Kingdom Come" and "Tower of Babel". Great stories and artwork on both, no question. I'm kind of surprised you didn't mention "Injustice: Gods Among Us" considering it's basically a continuing Elseworlds tale. But it all started because of a fateful decision that Superman made, and triggers this WAR between what was once a unified team...unified no more.
I'm glad that you're favorite Lantern is Kyle, people tend to forget that all of his personality was brought over to Hal after the Crisis event which is frustrating since he was a great Lantern but doesn't get enough attention.
Justice was a good read, thank you for recommending it for me, I saw your video like 2 weeks ago ang read it whole.

I'd recommend the Justice League of America by George Perez. There was two hardcovers collecting his work but as for individual issues go Justice League #192, 193 and especially #200.
I didn't know his work was collected in two hardcovers. Thank you and I will look for those.
Great Review, Omar. Now I'm excited about JLA's history wish we could get an OHC for Mark Waid's Tower of Babel but I guess the thick trade will do for now. Definitely putting down Morrison's upcoming Omni on my wishlist. Recently ordered Absolute Kingdom Come too

Thank you Omar, great show to get an overview and see the highlights!!! Realized that I had a gap btw Morrison's HC vol 4 and the TP vol 5 which I own. That gap was including the Tower of Babel! So I will have to buy the JLA vol 4 TP from Mark Waid.

LOL I'm such a fan of Batman Year 2!!! As much as I love what Year One did, Year Two is always the better story for me. :)
I love JLA Year ONE. However, I think Origin does a little better introduction to new readers. So it was a tough toss up between the two.

The first book you review was a good book. A great book actually 🤘. Reading it felt like you were watching a really good sitcom /drama... Like the character stuff was almost more important than the plot.... At least thats how I remember it. Anyways great review as always bro!

Also what is the name of this book? I don’t think he said, just that Dwane mcDuffie wrote this.

Huh... I wonder how many versions of the Absolute were printed. I just got this a month ago and I'm sure it has a different spine on it.
Great video Omar as always. Quick question about the JLI omnibus, I’ve heard so many complaints about the book quality itself, and although th set fixed the missing word bubbles etc with the second printing, the colouring and line work is supposedly terrible when compared with the original work. What is your opinion of it and are the new TPB ones coming out have any better art quality?

I love my omnibus, and the build isn't perfect, but its good enough for me. I like the art on this type of paper instead of the matte paperstock of the trades. I'm hoping with JLI 2 we get a better omnibus build.
Near Mint Condition okay great to know, was there an issue with the line work? Some said it was like if you photocopied the original and it lost a lot, or does yours look fine?
What is the paper quality of the JLI HC volumes and TPB? I’m at a cross roads of breaking my “Events are oversized, basic series are standard sized” scheme of my library and just getting the JLI Omni.
The HCs were glossy and the trades that thick matte.

Nice video.
After watching the movie I decided to get into the comics of the characters. And I don't know where to start I'm confused between the new 'rebirth' series or 'the new 52'.
Thank you for watching the video. The good thing about N52 is that its a fresh start for the characters. Well, most except Batman. Some of Batman's stories still happened. I would say the N52 is an easier universe to start in, since its a fresh start. I think the N52 is one of the best origin stories for the League and you get to see the characters interact with each other for the first time. Rebirth is wonderful, but you need more of an understanding as to the history of the DC universe. In the end I suggest checking out the N52 first and moving forward (or backwards) from there. I hope I was able to help a little.
Start with New 52 then work your way to Rebirth.
The Geoff Johns run is incredible. The Snyder run while confusing at times, is a lot of fun with the Legion of Doom. Death Metal was a disappointment though, the final issues of that event were terrible and turned into Wonder Woman monologuing about how history mattered for two issues.
And this last thing they are doing with no more multiple earths, but they are all the same characters from golden and silver age....
I was really hoping New 52 Vol 1 would be up here!

Justice league international is an awesome series and I think it might be my favourite run on justice league it has great humour action and has my favourite underrated characters blue beetle and bosster gold it's probably my favourite comic book series of all time

Near Mint Condition and my favourite grant Morrison ( my favourite comic book writer ) JLA story is new world order people may say Tower of Babel is the best justice league story but mine is JLA new world order and justice league international they are just awesome also I fell sorry for you for buying the currently two spider men clone saga omnibus that must have been a lot of money

Also doesn't justice league rebirth suck so so hard it really sucks and I got that you bought it for the artwork but is nightwing rebirth good and how is he your favourite dc character tell me he is my favourite dc character as well

I was surprised by how much I didn't dig John's N52 Justice League. I think for me Waid's small run was the best.

ever since I watched JL Doom, I've been looking for that book.

Grant Morrison has a reputation for writing stories that are nigh incomprehensible unless you're read everything else he's already written. Does this apply to Justice League? Can World War III be picked up and read without knowledge of what came before?
I think WW3 really builds on what he was doing in the previous volumes.
May I ask you if you have the Justice League Detroit era omnibus, and your thoughts on that one? If you have time :-)
I do have the JL International one, which I'm a big fan of but I have never read the Detroit era...
That's one I never did pick up as my DC universe usually begins with Crisis on Infinite Earths.

I watched a review on UA-cam some time ago where someone flipped through the book. I thought the art looked good. Classic old style, but good. Pencillers not known to me though :-)
It happens right before the International one, so I may pick it up one day.

There are four hardcovers of JLA by Morrison, but some are hard to find.
Near Mint Condition yeah it seems that way, I went with the trade paperback for Vol. 1 and read it all last night, it was awesome!
It gets better too. I think WW3 is one of my favorite runs.

I am really confused with the dc timeline right now.
So JL: International comes after Crisis on Infinite Earths and Batman is there. But in the Batman: Year One book which came out after Crisis, he hasn’t even become Batman yet. Where does that fit in?
Its a mess. But think of year one as a flashback issue. And it wasn't a hard reboot either so aspects of the Bronze age remained.
Near Mint Condition i heard somewhere that Crisis on Infinite Earths takes place right before the Killing Joke. After that it’s all post-crisis.
Yeah, see? And that was canon, until Flashpoint. :)

It's just some missing word balloons in one page. Nothing too crazy to warrant DC to reprint it.
Near Mint Condition I've just searched and it turns out they have reprinted it and fixed it including some other problems.

Yes, Rebirth Justice League was awful.
Most of it was generic alien villain tries to take over the world. Add to that the lackluster/ugly drawing.
And, was that children of the JL story the huge threat they were taking about since the beginning or didn't get to that because they changed the creative team? Because if it was it was very disappointing anyways.
I truly can't believe DC let it run for so long.
Right now Snyder writes it, and while I can't say it's amazing (as Geoff Johns' was in New 52) at least it's epic and with great art.
The Christopher Priest run was solid, but that Hitch run was aweful.

I didn't think there were people out there that didn't like Kingdom Come. I guess to each their own. I'm not a fan of Morrison's JLA. BTW, I like that Angela and Spawn. Picture is lit!
Did you read Justice? I know Ross did the painted work, but I was wondering if you enjoyed that more?
