A difference of 3B means one signal is double the volume of the other, a difference of 6dB means 4 times the loudness, and so on, awesome test on them.

That yellow usb one is a god of a pump tbh lol, i have 5 running in this very room tight now and not a sound or hum or vibration, i have them all hanging behind the tanks on a stick on hook, id not use any other one, i got the idea from Aquarium COOP etc.
Ah man, perhaps I got the 1/1000 that was less than perfect off the production line or something then. I could hear it was louder than the others soon as I plugged it in but I can only test the one in my hands I guess. Glad you are happy with yours though bud.
@@DanielKeepingFish Yea on Amazon they are made by many differant makes, i think these are really big in the USA as well, i honestly dont hear a single thing.
Infact just this very second ive sat down after finishing my Wifes 60ltr BioTube (i hate them lol) and i changed the OAse pump over to this small USB one, its now totally silent lol

I’m more interested in price and longevity than decibels. I already have filters going on tanks in four rooms of my house and an old, loud, air pump, in one room. If I was allowed to keep a tank at work, I’d still enjoy the white noise of an air pump or filter. I use fans to make such noise, there now.
You produced another, interesting video and I appreciate your demonstration of these, fine products. It’s also a pleasure to see you interact with precious Luna.

Yeah we all have different criteria for choosing our aquarium accessories I guess but I know sound levels are important to many people. Unfortunately I can't report on the longevity of any of them at this stage I'm afraid but I shall report back if either of them becomes noteworthy.
I'm sure Luna would say hi if we could interpret the purrs haha..

Sometimes Hank, the house cat at Feeders, enjoys interacting with me. Other times, he walks away or stays hidden. I was surprised to discover, as he was laying on the cash register counter when I stopped by, this week, that he hasn't been neutered. Perhaps this explains his, varied moods.

Yeah the cat fairly recently adopted us and likes to be center stage. Either perched on my shoulder or forever under my feet trying to trip me up haha..
@@DanielKeepingFish awesome…..the wieners run the house around here that’s for sure and they too get upset when we spend too much time with the fish…..we’ve even shown this in some videos especially with Lacey where she goes into a huge barking fit basically telling us “enough with those damn fish already I need a lap to sit on” hahaha

Love these videos! I’m sensitive to sound, struggles to find a max size canister filter be low sound. I’m curious of what the oase bio master Thermo 850 has for sound vs 2217 eheim
Ah I wish I could give you a complete answer but I don't have either of these to test them with the dB meter I'm afraid. I have an Aqua One 750, Oase Biomaster Thermo 250 and an Eheim Classic. None of them are in operation. I tend to have a love/hate relationship with canisters haha.. I use them fine for a while but find maintenance a drag and after a flood or two (usually my fault) I end up ditching them for a while.
I do feel like the Oase and the Classic were pretty quiet but they are smaller models than the ones you are considering and I don't imagine I am quite as sensitive to sound as yourself.
Daniel that was very interesting, it surprised me how quiet they were. The USB could be used as an emergency pump I might have a look at that. I have 3 rechargeable pumps from APS. They do the job but they are noisy. I might try one of those USB's run from a battery pack. To be honest I was expecting them to sound like blowflies.
Yeah they'd definitely do in a pinch running off a power bank as you say. I have the Nicrew Max 6. Great pump and can run a line or two with a battery back up facility but twice the price of a single USB air pump. Then again there's the price of the power bank to run the USB one so evens out kinda.

For sure mate. For folk with many or larger tanks anyway, for people with a small bedroom or office tank these wee air pumps are ideal though hey.

That's right, Love Fish is the brand you can pick up at Pets @ Home. Must say I can't find fault in it so far except that the plug fell apart after a couple of times plugging it in and out. Sure that's not a common fault though, just unlucky with the one I got.
