    Most Oswals, surname today is Shah. They're from Osian and most left to several parts of Gujarat. From there to Kenya, London, and North America. We are Rajputs, but have changed our work to Bussines men. But the ambiguity lies in the fact that many forgot our past, but we truly still have a obligation to fight if the need persists.

      As per Bangladesh, the defacto- Bangla champion, Bengal history starts by overthrowing corrupt polytheistic rulers and establishing the fair rule if Islam. Anything prior Islamic rule is savage, barbaric and low in merit. I wonder why we are fed the 'tell me entire lineage of mughal rulers' to pass a polygraphic indian liberal test.

    I am really confused about the RAJPUT identity. We all know that RAJPUTS claim to be kshatriyas but I think that was more metaphorical than real. I have read historical books, where the origins of Rajputs were not known before the 10th Century and historians have THREE different theories about their origin, none of the theories state that they were Kshatriya clans and in fact, one of the theories state that they are actually White Huns settled in Northwest India when they were defeated repeatedly during the Gupta period and gradually gained prominence over the next few centuries. In addition, some historians pointed out the Rajputs have certain traditions which are incongruent with Hindu Kshatriya traditions, especially the suicide last stand charge combined with the Johar.

    • @kgzb123
      @kgzb123 3 місяці тому

      rajput ethnogenesis happened with the already existing Kshatriyas of North and some little assimilation with Huns, Scythians...
      The assimilation was little coz it left no trace in genetic ancestry of modern Rajputs.
      Most rajput hv Brahmin type ancestry, which means they r from Brahmin type Upper caste, which is Kshatriya.
      This is all about Genetics but we even have historical evidences of continuity of Kshatriyas, the ancient and medieval era Kshtriyas didnt go extinct but assimilated into a larger group.
      Second misconception of rajputs is that they r from Rajasthan only, which is wrong Rajput clans r present in every states above Narmada and some even till Orissa.
      And they r native clans of states just like we hv different Brahmins of diverse ethnicity

    • @maheshdocherla
      @maheshdocherla 3 місяці тому

      @@kgzb123 Do you understand genetics? Because I have studied the recent genetic studies in anthropology and I am a physician and they are only limited to racial categorisation and have not gone as far as tracing the origin of castes.
      Secondly, outside of genetics, if your evidence is puranas, then if you actually read ALL of them, the contradictions are so many that your claim doesn't hold and is weak.
      Third, as far as I have come across the academic historians & anthropologists point of view, the most common agreed upon theory is that they were actually Shudra farmers which organised themselves into warrior clans to defend their lands after the fall of the Gupta empire and the incessant warfare following it. The other theory contesting THIS first theory is that they are HUNS settled locally after they were defeated by Guptas, especially when Mihirakula of Huns extended till UP and then his successors lost it.
      The 2nd theory is based on some unique cultural aspects of the Rajputs which are not found in mainstream Hinduism, thus negating the claims to Brahmin or Kshatriya descent.
      To me, these two theories are more plausible but YOU are claiming genetic studies which I have NOT come across till now. Most likely what you heard is just heresy or propaganda.
      That is why, I was asking this question to Jay Vardhan Singh because he is obviously not swayed by propaganda and is quite neutral in his presentation.

    There was no Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bengal in medieval times.
    There was also no India as a nation state prior to arrival of East India Company.
    The merchants of today's Gujarat in medieval times had little to no connect with today's Tamil Nadu or Bengal.
    Today's Gujarat only came into existence in 1950s with merger of few parts of Bombay presidency with several independent kingdoms whose subjects always considered themselves as a separate nation distinct from other people of the subcontinent.

      Millennia before Columbus sailed the Atlantic and Magellan crossed the Pacific, the Indian Ocean had become a thoroughfare of commercial and cultural traffic between the west coast of India and Babylon, as well as the East”
      -KM Panikkar in ‘India and the Indian Ocean’
      Kutch, Kathiawad and Peninsular Gujarat boast of a resplendent maritime heritage of over five millenia vintage. It was the location of the Harappan - Saraswati civilisation and had maritime contacts with the Sumerians and Mesopotamia. It also developed, arguably, the world’s first dock at Lothal. After a decline of this ancient civilisation maritime trade revived centuries later with Sumer, Phoenicia, Egypt, Rome and Greece, through Egypt, East Africa and Sri Lanka. Traders from the region emigrated in large numbers to areas in Southwest Asia and East Africa, establishing trading colonies.
      Historical information about the ports of Gujarat is found in the Mahabharata, the Harivansh Purana, and the Matsya Purana. It is mentioned in the Harivansh Purana that the prosperity of the Yadavas was due to sea-trade. Kautilya has mentioned in his Arthashastra that the main occupation of people living along the coastline was navigation. The discovery of port ruins at Dholavira, Surkotda, Kuntasi, and Lothal belonging to different phases of the Indus Valley Period is a striking piece of evidence of maritime linkages of this area. The ancient Greek and Roman classics refers to the names of many ports of Gujarat, like Barygaza (modern day Bharuch), which was renowed for its trade during that period. Maritime trade also flourished during the rule of Kshatrapa and Gupta Kings. This area was the ‘Gateway of maritime commerce’ leading to the North Indian Plains and Central India as far as Pataliputra (modern Patna).
      An early mention of the country of Jurz (Gujarat) was made by Suleiman, a merchant of Barsa in 851 AD. Other Arab travelers like AI Ishtakhri, Ibn Majid, AI Beruni, Ibn Haukal, Ibn Batuta and AI Idrisi have all made laudatory references to the sea trade of Gujarat. Post 9th century, with Islam spreading all over the western parts of North India and ruling dynasties becoming Islamic, the Haj pilgrimage assumed significance, demanding sea travel from one or the other port of Gujarat in view of its proximity to North India. The colonial period saw the Dutch, the French, the Portuguese and the British pursuing their trade interests vigorously. During this period Surat, Diu and Daman rose to prominence. Surat had a glorious time till the British shifted their maritime headquarters to Bombay. Daman and Diu continued to be important Portuguese ports of Gujarat.
