    In this video I demonstrate how to swap out your non-adjustable lower control arm bolts for adjustable cam (or camber) bolts. This is demonstrated on a 2005 Nissan Xterra but will apply to a whole range of cars.

    I have 07 Frontier, bought it new. Its been recommended couple times when i had my wheel alignment to replace cam bolt eccentric. I never have an issue with tire uneven wearing since brand new n now 13 yrs later. I just told garage dont worry on eccentric n just do regular alignment. Fronty runs great like brand new. I just replaced the lower A-arms on my ‘06 Titan. I watched your video and I put my camber bolts in the position you recommended. I took the truck for the alignment. The owner of the shop (it’s a 1-man shop) asked me how I knew where to put the camber bolts. He said, “They were spot on! All I had to do was adjust the caster on the passenger side.” So, thank you for an excellent video with technical details that are “spot on”!

    Actually my 2005 off road model has the adjustable cam bolts already but I'm replacing them because they are getting rusty. I'm putting the Rough County lift kit on mine along with different upper control arms then its getting a professional alignment. I already replaced the worn and broken leaf springs and that was fun doing it on the ground. I know this video is on the older side, but it was still informative. Thanks for doing what you do for the Xterta owners.

    So after watching this I ordered some cam bolts and installed them. I removed the old ones and they did not look like the ones you pulled out. They looked somewhat adjustable with tic marks. I read on some forum that after 2005 (beginning in 2006), Nissan stopped putting adjustable cam bolts on the titans bc they felt they dialed in their alignment to the point where it didn’t need it. I was shocked to see the “adjustable” bolt bc I do t even have a 4x4, I have the lowest trim/option 05 Nissan titan (xe).

    Hi, Ry! You have a wonderful selection of videos to check out. Thank you for making them!
    My question is: I have a 2019 Frontier that I bought brand new. Everything was stock on it until two weeks ago when I added 1.5" spacers to the front (along with longer shackles in the back). The front wheels then had a positive camber which, because of the stock camber bolts, couldn't be adjusted. I then had the eccentric cam bolts installed just like the ones you have. When I took it to the alignment shop they made my tires as straight up-and-down as possible (I didn't want any positive or negative camber). To my eyes, my wheels still look like they have a bit of positive camber, and it's bothering me. The alignment shop said that there was no more play in the adjustable cam bolts to get the tire perfectly vertical. Do you think what they are telling me is true? I din't think that a 1.5" spacer would be too much for the eccentric cam bolts to overcome. Perhaps I need an adjustable upper control arm?

    I went to get my pathfinder aligned and the tech tried charging me $300 just for the cambolt install . My suv is all stock and he wanted me to install a camber kit on my suv.. He told me he couldn’t do the camber alignment but can only do the toe alignment … was he trying to sell me something I didn’t need? By the way, is the camber bolt only needed for lower control not for upper control arm and what about the back , is it the same process ?

  • @josecamarenajr3423
    @josecamarenajr3423 3 роки тому +1

    That was easy. I changed mine a few months ago. One side was seized up. I ended up having to cutting the bolts off. This screwed me up because the lower arm had a cut bolt through the bushing. I ended up finding two lower control arms at the junk yard. Replaced the ball joints and now my Xterra is all lined up.

    Can you provide more info on the cam bolts please? Brand, supplier etc. I have an OME lift on my xterra and the front camber is slightly positive - I think the alignment specs post lift were 0.7 deg and 0.9 deg. It is enough that my tires are wearing a bit uneven. I'm due for new tires this summer, so I want to get a slightly negative camber on the fronts, especially because when turning, the camber and caster put more wear on the outer portion of the tread of the outside tire.
    Thanks

    • @Rythecarguy

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  Рік тому

      For sure! Especially if you want to have greater control over your alignment. A lot of times alignment shops will only align toe because the other points are not adjustable. Adding these will let them control more aspects of your ride.

    What exactly is the purpose of an adjustable lower control arm? What benefit does it produce? Thanks BTW, I have a 2008 Nissan Frontier with a 2.5” lift package.

    • @Rythecarguy
      @Rythecarguy  3 роки тому +2

      In the case of my Xterra the upper and lower control arms are not adjustable from the factory. This means that the only thing you can really adjust in an alignment is the toe in. When you swap these bolts out you are then able to adjust the castor and camber as well. All three are critical to a proper alignment. If you lifted your frontier you should definitely consider swapping these out if your current setup is not adjustable. If your alignment is wrong you could start burning through tires.

      I purchased my Lift kit Rough Country. Looking at their LOWER CONTROL ARM CAM BOLTS they only have the oval washer welded on one side of the bolt.
