- What's happening, folks! I'm back with another a-ha reaction from their 1994 performance at Sentrum Scene in Oslo, and this time we listen to a rocking version of "The Sun Always Shines on T.V." So join me as we listen to a jamming live version of this early a-ha classic, though as you'll hear, the recording quality on this one is a bit inferior compared to others in this playlist. Cheers!

This is my favourite…and always will be my favourite a-ha song. It was the one that got me really hooked on listening to them…an obsession I’ve had for almost 40 years now. I can’t say that this one is anywhere near to the best performance of it that I’ve ever heard because it’s not…but no matter I still love it! This version sounds a bit rough round the edges, both the instrumentals and poor Morten’s overstretched and ragged-sounding vocals. He definitely sounds like he and the other two are in need of a very long rest from performing together…which of course was exactly what happened, a six year long extended rest!
I had to add this story from my trip to Cincy. So whenever I go on a trip somewhere now, I wear my EOTSWOTM album shirt. I have no clue why exactly, just a tradition now. 😂
We got to the PDX airport and went through TSA. One of the agents stopped me and said “Oh a-ha! Only know their one song, Take on Me. What other stuff do they have?”. Well, this could take hours, so I just said they can sound completely different from
that. How they also have a Vintage Rock/Bluesy kind of sound. That really seemed to perk his interest, so I told him to check out EOTSWOTM and MB. He mouthed both of them. Either the man is extremely good at customer service or he was really interested. I will take either. 😂
The flight attendant on the plane on the way home? She said “Oh, I love a-ha!”. I got a little excited and the other flight attendant said “I don’t think I heard of them”. So the first one said “Oh, they do that song…” and she started to sing TOM in this really corny way. So I interrupted and said “Well actually, they have a LOT of songs that don’t even sound like that”. My boyfriend pulled me along and said “OMG, you’re embarrassing! Just let it go. She was trying to be nice. You made her feel bad”. I didn’t think it was mean. I mean, seriously, isn’t a normal reaction to be “Oh really? I didn’t know that. I’ll have to check it out” even if you don’t really mean it? I mean, someone who gets offended needs a life,IMHO, am I wrong? A big disagreement between my boyfriend and I. 🤷🏻♀️😂
That’s exactly how I go on too…embarrassing to whomever I happen to be with at the time when I go off on one of my a-ha rants! 😅🤣

The reason why the sound quality is worse on this track (and on the next one, surely) is because it does not come from the same source as the previous ones. 😉
This show was broadcast on Norwegian Radio back then (though incomplete), and that's where the previous tracks were recorded from and shared among fans. Hence the good audio quality. 👌 I got the bootleg recording of this concert in 2011 and have seen others sharing the same, but it only has 12 tracks (ending with Shapes). The person who shared this bootleg mentioned it included two extra songs (this one and the next), which I had never heard before. I don't know their source, but they weren’t part of the radio broadcast.
Anyway, regardless of sound quality, I am glad we have someone recorded this for posterity. 😊 It may not be the greatest performance, but it's very cool, for all the reasons you pointed out. Morten's voice sounds strained and a bit "worn out", but he still has some top-notch moments. And Paul, shredding on the guitar! 😎 Another great live performance from the 90s.

Yes, the sound quality isn’t its best, no doubt. However, I am totally in love with this version. ❤ It’s like the official album one is the good guy who is also attractive and this concert one is that attractive guy who has the total “hot bad guy” vibes. Whew! 😅
First off, Morten’s voice right around 4:48-5….OMG OMG OMG! I was over here doing a deep almost guttural “Oooooooh ooooh oooh!” Shaking my head and fanning myself. Some of this stuff should be rated XXX for me🤣🤣
Oh and then around 6:15-6:20, he’s doing those hot extra embellishments as he’s so into it….OMG OMG OMG…..
Then THEN, those drums, that base, Pål’s voice and how hot he is with it and also with serious on shredding the guitar….. Magne and his moments on the Keyboard, I can see him all into it too. OMG OMG….my hormones are through the roof!❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
So the official album version just totally puts me in this floaty space where I am soaring great heights. This concert version brings me back down to earth and gets at my primal hormonal side. Wow! It’s like some Heavy metal/blues band did a cover of TSASOTV. Wow….
This song reminds me of a while back ago. I had the HHAL album cd and just bought some 3 pack with a few different albums that included HHAL. I went to give away the other cd on a neighbor site. Two people were very quick. The one lady was so excited and just kept talking about TSASOTV. I gave it to her and as soon as she got in her jeep with it, she was blaring that song and had this huge smile on her face. Totally made my day. ❤😊
