@Dominic Bommarito In addition to amazing information Tom graciously shares I also follow The Rotty Channel. They have 4 Rotties, ages 6 months to 6 years, and share good info from an owners pov. Lots of what I have gained from both channels can be applied to specific breeds and also strong breed dogs in general. I have rescued pitties for years and recently rescued a husky/pit mix. I thought being a dog owner my whole life and having pitties for 15+ years I could handle any breed but my husky/pit mix is a whole new learning experience. Best of luck with your pup!!!
preach it. i knew exactly what i was doing when i got a malinois, and i still think it's a lot. I pity the fool who gets a high drive dog and doesn't know / want training with it. I train every day with mine, and she loves it. She never has enough.
Yeah most places are so money hungry they only want people like cesser Millan who mentally and physically abuses the dogs to get them to listen out of fear and putting the dog in situations it can't handle with no knowledge just horrifying corrections.
Who needs a network nowadays? Keep on making these high quality informational and inspirational dog breed documentaries. We are here to watch and support you and soon the big networks and sponsors will come crawling and begging for a piece of this pie. Such a great production, I see nothing but great things coming your way. Keep up the good work my friend.👏👏👏
We have a Golden Retriever, and she's been the best dog I've ever had or known. We live on a farm and actually she just kind of adopted being a guardian dog. She's killed several things now to keep her baby's safe. When it's time for bed for her ducks and chickens, she comes back inside. I was surprised that she just knew to bring her kills to me. Her breeder did not breed her dogs for sport like this, so no prior training. She just, is a very smart and sweet dog!
I absolutely loved this. I had a Golden retriever for 11 years and she was my heart. Watching this made her mannerisms make total sense. She was SOO smart, easy to train, perceptive and intuitive.
I get those comment a lot, "why does your dog has to do something for you" , "why can't you just let him be a dog" my answer is always "to prevent my dog for getting bored and distructive and live his live with full potential, dog's are bred to work and they even love it and it's all play and learn to them" Most people will never get it, even iff i answer that.
What an unbelievable piece on the Goldens, their history-what seriously they as a breed were & are meant to do! God bless them out there in Minnesota Thank you Tom for sharing this piece! Elizabeth
This was so good, it is such a shame that it didn't work out. I loved that these breeders worked with the dogs development from such an early age. I would love to see this programming for all major breeds so everyone could see the work that went and still should go into each breeds training. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Tom! You have so.many good ideas for more series, I cant wait to see what you do with your career, you're so creative! The analysis of dogs at play in the daycare, this series etc. Get it! ❤
Seriously hoping that one day this will make it to a network. As silly as it sounds it brought tears to my eyes watching these dogs live the primal and instinctual purpose they were bred to do. This was a fanatic video.
I have a 20 week Golden Retriever he has gone to Obedience school, our pup was able to ace the class class, but Freddie would get tired and wouldn’t walk he would lay down! This is our third Golden, We are older now and he has so much energy! His breeder didn’t really mess with him.
I feel like crying...such a moving video to see these gorgeous animals work. I have a golden and he is lovely but boy do I feel like a crappy dog parent after watching this. I need to DO MORE WORK!
This has been wonderful, we need more of this in tv. Many owners don't even know what they're bringing home, they just want a cute doggie but not all it carries with. Great job Tom! 💯%
This is like my dream docu series. Please make more!!! How cool would it be to have the same concept applied to a livestock gardian breed, a heeler, a shepherd (border collies but also other types of herding!) or other types of hunting dogs like pointers, flushers or blood trackers (please make one on the standard wire haired dachshund!). You could even do some on sled dogs, like the dogs that run the Iditarod. So many people get huskies for their looks without knowing much about what incredible things the breed can do. I love learning about what jobs popular breeds were bred to do and people really need to learn more about this.
This was awesome! As an owner of a working hunting dog, I love learning about how and why dogs work specifically for a job. The histories are all so interesting and people can really learn a lot about dog behavior from amazing breeding programs that create quality working pups!
I live in Europe and I have a golden retriever that I love very, very much, but it started to show dominance. With the help of your wonderful videos and the help of a trainer I now have the same lovely dog that I used to and for that I owe you a big THANK YOU! Keep up the good work and please keep helping dog owners! You have won a follower for life! ❤️🙌🏼
I would binge this show over and over. As a relatively new dog trainer working on continuing my education and slowly building a small business in the field, I'm always looking for stuff just like this to show people and supplement my own training program so people can understand their dogs better. I'd absolutely love to see an episode on Staffordshire Terriers and other pittie breeds.
You gotta revive this series!! very cool to see a dog doing what hey love best and to understand what they need as far as exercise and "work" to do especially if they are going to be pets and you understand what they need in order to be happy and a successful relationship and less dogs end up in shelters if people know what type of dog they have and what is required of them to maintain a healthy dog physically and mentally.
working golden retriever breeders, like all working breeders, put less emphasis on conformation and more emphasis on character and function. Thank God for working dogs! This is a great piece. I wish you could do more of these on different working breeds. Obviously the working German Shepherd, Malinois and Dutchie, even Rottweilers Dobermans, Patterdales, the list goes on
Could not have said it better. Loved this and so well done. Your love for dogs really shines through. More of these types of deep dives into a breed, please 🙏
THIS is fantastic context and concept! Educational and also can change how we value these special creatures. This needs to be picked up!!! A job well done!
Love this series! I have lived with three goldens. They went to work with me, were visitation dogs and now are my companion in retirement. We still visit shut ins. Miss Casey loves to work and loves to learn. You got it! Thanks Tom.
this needs to be picked up. It was amazing to watch the dogs do what they were bred to do. I love goldens and it was great to see them do exactly what they were bred to do.
Loved. As a Golden Retriever owner this was very informative and enjoyable. Our Archie enjoys his runs, long walks and retrieves everything! We have always had Goldens and think they are the best dogs in the world.
I loved this! I can see so much of my Labrador retriever in everything you’ve show here. From the “watch it” when he’s waiting for me to throw a stick in the water to kicking up birds in the fields we walk in. And he shed hunts with my son a lot, as well. This helps confirm that I’m giving him as close to a working lab experience as I can, thereby keeping him mentally fit, as well as physically. Thank you for sharing this.
I was raised with goldens. Now as a home owner i adopted my little golden Kevin. he is 5 months old and after watching this i am so far behind in training for the both of us. I knew i wanted him to have a job and ill be trying to help my little dude in following his meaning in life. just need to find something out here in Arizona. great episode though sad it didn't make it to a network.
What you said about the e-collar was perfectly articulated. I want my dog to have as much fun on our outdoor excursions to the park/local pet friendly reserves as possible and not just go on walks with me at heel on leash. Plus, as a lab, my dog LOVES to sniff around, and I want him to have that luxury since I don’t allow him to when loose leash walking. The e-collar allows him to do all that while being safe.
What an outstanding video. These breeders/trainers solid people. Their dogs are incredible. Nothing more beautiful than watching a dog work doing what they were bred to do. It's poetry. I'm in love with these GRs despite being a GSD gal.
Even I'm vegetarian, I loved watching this short film, the little puppies, the effort and love those people put in their work with the dogs. What a sensationell breed the Golden really is! I learned so much about these kind of dogs from this episode, I'm so impressed. Thank you for showing us this film! It was a pleasure to watch 😍🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Loved it, amazing watching how they grow and develop from such a young age. Goldens are one of the old time favourites for almost everyone. It is a much to watch to any dog lover who wish to have a golden one day. Thanks Tom!
Its so amazing to see this breed doing what it was bred for and not a couch potato! But i also think working/showline splits are important because of this, some people want a more laid back golden (Showline) but still have the retriever, and some need/want a working line thats go-go-go and bred for the hunt. These are some amazing dogs with great working line genetics!
I love this idea because so many people don't understand how much work goes into a hunting dog and how much work a hunting dog needs on a daily basis. If you do another episode, please do an English Springer Spaniel. I'd like for you to emphasize the huge difference between a bench and a working dog. And while the bench looks different, much of the original breeding remains.
The working and sporting dog breeds have such a rich history, and the Golden Retriever’s is especially so. From Lord Tweedmouth to Tigathoe, and other important kennels of the ‘40’s and ‘50’s that still influence bloodlines today. Field-bred type Golden Retrievers are almost a separate breed now from the show-bred type golden which most people are more familiar with. I’ve had both and they were all lovely and beloved dogs, but not all were retrievers. Our current Topbrass, field-bred girl is into agility and is an awesome frisbee player. It takes a lifetime of dedication and love of the sport to breed and train these dogs. Great, informative pilot, and I think it would be interesting for people to learn more about their own amazing working, hunting, herding, couch companions.
My boyfriend and I are adopting a golden retriever puppy soon and I found this video helpful and heartwarming. Sometimes I feel like there is not enough quality dog training videos on the internet vs. dog training books. Speaking from someone who has dyslexia, I can retain much more information through listening and watching as apposed to struggling through a book. Your videos are QUALITY. It was the networks loss to not pick up your wonderful personality. I will continue to watch 👍
Think I learned about 200 billion things from this and how they train. Truly inspirational, what a brilliant programme. Would be amazing for it to get picked up - why on earth did the network not run with it??!🤦♀️
Very interesting. I got so into it that when it finished I was like "this is suppose to be a 22 minutes video, what's wrong again with my phone" but it was over. Very dedicated couple and you can see that they LOVE there dogs. Great work guy's and thank you from every golden that is lucky enough to be born in your family. Just wow.
@@tomdavisofficial YES!! This was amazing!! I'd love to see more breed stories. It sounds really sappy, but the best feeling in the world is seeing a dog doing a job. There's something about it that just hits different
This Is such an Eye opening video. To see wonderful, caring breeders instead of money hungry breeders. Just, Thank you. I truly wish this show about dog breeds worked out. I believe people have forgotten that dogs are beautiful working animals and not puffy dressed up trophies.
Thank you for sharing. I hope you're able to do more dog's destiny videos. I love seeing what different breeds are meant to do. My relatives had Springer Spaniels as hunting dogs in northern Minnesota. The dogs were so excited to go out hunting. Positively quivering with happiness. It was like a kid going to Disney.
Those dogs look like they’re having the time of their lives. Running around, getting birds, and bringing them home. You can tell they have a real bond with their people
I have been waiting a long time to see one of these! Great, great video from top to bottom!!! Thank you! Hopefully you can do more of these types one day.
This was great! Maybe you could do one on different breeds - It might just help people make better choices when they understand the breeds better. I see so many dogs with issues because they aren't suited to the lifestyle their owners live. Thank you again!
Hi Tom, Thank you so much for all you do. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode and would love to see more; very entertaining and educational. Everything you put out is incredibly well done and I have learned sooo much since I started following you. 😉 My relationship with my dogs is better every day thanks to your help and dedication!!!!!
Wow. Fantastic production. The Q&A could not have been better. Don’t know what network passed on this but I believe they blundered big time. Thanks for sharing this Tom. I really enjoyed it.
Would absolutely love to see this type of video featuring the English Mastiff. Hell, there's probably a hundred breeds that I'd love to see featured this way! Great stuff!
This was a beautiful piece. I'd really enjoy seeing you go through the breeds and showcasing similar breeders in their element. Thunderstruck breeders are very inspiring and a true homage to the breed. Thank you for sharing this.
I absolutely love this, please make this a series. I got an blue heeler mix when I was young and naive and always feel bad she doesn’t get any herding, but now we have picked up frisbee and dock jumping. Our next dog will be a lab since I need a hunting partner and there’s a dog out there that needs a job!
This is simply amazing! Such great information! I hope a network sees this and picks it up as a series so we can learn all about all the breeds and how they are programmed to work!
Amazing video! I hope you are able to cover more breeds. Really good stuff! We have a Great Pyrenees, an Alaskan Malamute and a Husky. It is so cool to watch their individual breed instincts, and nurture them.
@Veronica Roberts I really enjoy Tom & all the knowledge he shares, as well. I have had dogs my whole life and rescued staffies for the past 15+ years. My most recent rescue is husky/pit mix, Wiley...almost 2 yrs old and he has been incredibly challenging. With you being a fellow strong breed owner and specifically Husky...Do you have any suggestions to better understand and/or train, bond with a Husky? My Husky, Wiley, goes from front door to over 6+foot fence in the blink of an eye and has crazy intense prey drive which I have learned both are normal for the breed. I have gotten creative with keeping him from 'escape' but would love any suggestions you may be able to share. Thanks 😊
I loved this video❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️the golden retrievers are so beautiful , I wished this had been picked up because more people need to know what to expect from the breed before you buy. My son did his homework before getting his Labrador from a specific breeder. Ranger is now trained to be a special needs for my autistic granddaughter
I really wish Travel Channel or Discovery Channel would pick this up - its really informative, entertaining, awe inspiring, and great education. I love the concept and idea and would faithfully watch it. Tom, as always - you're amazing (and your team too =) ). Still hope and pray some day we'll meet in person. Sorry I can't afford the $20 a month membership as I said in a reply email, but I still support you as best I can - by word of mouth.
I loved this program. I hope that you can do more like this in the future. I have so much respect for the breeders/ training. They are amazing folks. It takes alot of dedication to train in a Minnesota winter. My husband is an avid pheasant hunter, but retrieves his own foul. He wants a dog for retrieval, but after watching this video I'm not positive we could accomplish that level of training. Well made video!
Please do MORE This was AWESOME! Can you do other breeds? -White Swiss Shepherd -German Shepherd -Dutch Shepherd -Nova Scotia Duck Retriever -Wolf -Rare Breeds It is just interesting This is just what it SHOULD be.
This was so much fun to watch these dogs grow and train. It struck me that my rescue didn’t get that brain stimulation at an early age as she was abandoned on a doorstep at eight weeks. Tom’s videos though, have made me a better dog owner and helped me build my relationship with my dog through training.
This needs to be a show!! You've opened my eyes to how much genetics plays an impact on a dogs personality and what jobs I can train my different dogs to do! Thank you for sharing this!!!
I'VE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME TO RELEASE THIS!!! LEAVE SOME LOVE NO BAD DOG ARMY!
This was a great video, so amazing to be able to see a dog do what they were bred for!
@Dominic Bommarito In addition to amazing information Tom graciously shares I also follow The Rotty Channel.

This is the show people in America need to see! Way too many working dogs out there not being given anything to do
This is actually such a dope concept! Why did it not get picked up? Would love to see you keep doing this with all different breeds.
That was very well done! I would definitely watch your show. More please!
Wish this would get picked up. Going through each breed would be really interesting. Most don’t do enough research on the what they THINK they want.
💯💯💯💯
I feel that, even with research you tend to miss things.
Yes! So many people don't know what kind of dog they have on their hands.

The breeders in this video are solid. These are the kind of people to get a dog from 👍👌🎯

i just love watching dogs do what they were bred to do. the way they carry themselves completely changes and its just beautiful to look at.
We have a Golden Retriever, and she's been the best dog I've ever had or known. We live on a farm and actually she just kind of adopted being a guardian dog. This is exactly whats needed on TV, Dogs doing what they enjoy doing, breeders talking the talk and walking the walk. Love this.
I absolutely loved this. I had a Golden retriever for 11 years and she was my heart. Watching this made her mannerisms make total sense. She was SOO smart, easy to train, perceptive and intuitive.
Thanks so much Hilary!!!
I hear you I had a male golden receiver for 12 years I absolutely devastated missing him still
I get those comment a lot, "why does your dog has to do something for you" , "why can't you just let him be a dog" my answer is always "to prevent my dog for getting bored and distructive and live his live with full potential, dog's are bred to work and they even love it and it's all play and learn to them" Most people will never get it, even iff i answer that.
What an unbelievable piece on the Goldens, their history-what seriously they as a breed were & are meant to do!

You should do this for all dog breeds. At least the more popular ones. I'm sure that there's a huge audience for this.

Those dogs look like they’re having the time of their lives. Running around, getting birds, and bringing them home. You can tell they have a real bond with their people
I have been waiting a long time to see one of these! Great, great video from top to bottom!!!
Thank you! Hopefully you can do more of these types one day.
one of the best dog related informative videos i watched in a while. I hope theres more episodes coming :)
Great film, short but so mind opening! Useful information for development and growth. Keep the hard work going, we all love it!
This was great! Maybe you could do one on different breeds - It might just help people make better choices when they understand the breeds better. I see so many dogs with issues because they aren't suited to the lifestyle their owners live. Thank you again!
Hi Tom,
Thank you so much for all you do. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode and would love to see more; very entertaining and educational. Everything you put out is incredibly well done and I have learned sooo much since I started following you. 😉
My relationship with my dogs is better every day thanks to your help and dedication!!!!!
Wow. Fantastic production. The Q&A could not have been better. Don’t know what network passed on this but I believe they blundered big time. Thanks for sharing this Tom. I really enjoyed it.
WoW... this was such an insight into how best to train to retrieve, as well as how early training should start.
Very well done! So much interesting info to take in. The narrative really makes you feel apart of the journey. Thanks for sharing. Excellent!
Would absolutely love to see this type of video featuring the English Mastiff. Hell, there's probably a hundred breeds that I'd love to see featured this way! Great stuff!
AMAZING! LOVED the show and learned alot
Thanks so much Kim!
Loved this video!! any on Dobermans?
I’d love to see it!
Maaaate you have to turn this into a series. It was amazing
@Veronica Roberts
I really enjoy Tom & all the knowledge he shares, as well.
Loved watching this. Even after owning and hunting with four goldens over the years I still am inspired by what these beautiful dogs are capable of.
Wow this was amazing. I’m so envious of you getting to be there in person
Please do MORE
This was AWESOME!
Can you do other breeds?
-White Swiss Shepherd
-German Shepherd
-Dutch Shepherd
-Nova Scotia Duck Retriever
-Wolf
-Rare Breeds
It is just interesting
This is just what it SHOULD be.
This was so much fun to watch these dogs grow and train. It struck me that my rescue didn’t get that brain stimulation at an early age as she was abandoned on a doorstep at eight weeks. Tom’s videos though, have made me a better dog owner and helped me build my relationship with my dog through training.
I don't know how this didn't make it. Please make more!
LOVE this. I'd love to see this sort of content on more breeds too! So well done, Tom & crew!!!
This needs to be a show!! You've opened my eyes to how much genetics plays an impact on a dogs personality and what jobs I can train my different dogs to do! Thank you for sharing this!!!
