I think the monster took trixie when she climbed to the top of the trees, as for starlight maybe the forest terned her desire to be free ,into her own downfall

I think the forest made Starlight hallucinate that she was escaping- I.e. running into the sunlight, but was just running into the fire. I think the forest took Trixie and replaced her with some sort of changeling, but unsure when. Either when she climbed to the canopy, or when Starlight woke from sleep and saw “Trixie” staring into the dark. I don’t imagine it’s a normal forest, but a dark, twisted one.

I return to this reading at least once a year! It's such a good audio drama, I just WISH the ending was actually satisfying.
