@@CA-vy8et Sugar has been proven to be the most addictive substance that we consume, but it's not considered a drug. You don't see dealers roaming the streets with it, or doctors administering it to patients. No, instead, it is packed with other ingredients to create a nice treat aimed at everyone- including children. So, yeah, sugar is addictive, but not a drug. Caffeine is the same story, second verse.

    How this could’ve been avoided:
-Apple jack organized a night harvest so people could help without getting heatstroke, or just offer a lot of water
-Apple jack could’ve asked twilight for some money (she’s a Princess, she has to be rich)
-Apple jack decides to cook blue meth with pony Walter white and sell them across equestria while avoiding the pony DEA

I had a look myself and there is some elements of the Russian Sleep Experiment poured into this. Applejack goes crazy the same way the victims did when they had lack of sleep. But it also has its own original ideas too making it almost its own thing as well, like when Applejack broke her legs. Overall this is a pretty good MLP grim dark story.
Normally, I don’t listen to grim dark stories, but this one was actually pretty interesting and kept me hooked from beginning to end.

@@gren8te319 I like to think that Applejack's rampage was actually largely her hallucinating the people she blamed for causing her insanity. For instance it says Filthy Rich was already dead when she killed one of the early on-screen victims, but at the same time you could very easily imagine this referred to either that victim already being dead or to the other victims she had at that point. It is hard to believe after all, that after she had already been detained for wanting to hurt him that Rich would return to where she lives. Though of course, whatever the author says would override this.
What I'm saying is, in this story it could very easily be assumed she had just thought she killed Twilight when in reality it was a fully innocent pony that was actually dead before her.

It's sadly poetic how in the beginning, Applejack mistakenly assumed that she might have kicked her older brother to death, when in actuality, she just kicked a tree a little too hard and her brother was safe at the hospital.
In the ending, Applejack really did kicked her older sister to death, and is left questioning whether she is still alive.
Her sleep deprived mind made up a nightmare of paranoia, and now she is left to experience it for the rest of her life, long after the effects of the potion wore off.

I havent been into mlp in years and on a mlp creepypasta rabbithole out of pure boredome, but this story stands out as something truley magnificent in terms of writing. If you replaced the ponies with humans, it would be a really good horror novel and possible movie. This story sounds like a horror from the 80s or 90s that is considered a cult classic. I agree with many of the comments here that there should be a second part, but I think it should focus on Twilight and the guilt she lives with. It could be a psychological horror in its own as the guilt starts eating at her when memories from the past, before the potion, surround her. Yet she is too afraid to admit she's in the wrong because she was Celestia's star student, and she worked way to hard to become a princess to let it all fade from an honest mistake. She keeps herself sane by fully blaming Applejack because she asked for the potion, and this causes trauma for Twilight as she now begins to cope by pushing to blame onto others, her own sanity slips as the pressure of being a princess becomes too much. She goes down a similar path of Applejack's as she refuses to stop working, trying to hide her mental degradation. It could be similar to that of how Twilight went crazy in that one episode, desperate to help but a refusal to be in the wrong. One day her "help" causes a death. She didnt listen to the pony she was helping and did what she thought was right, ending their life. She freaks out, hides the body somewhere with her magic or something, and so on. Just an idea but it could be very interesting if done right.

  • @ethanharris1903

    This. Needs. A sequel.
Although AppleJack resorted to using dangerous substances in the face of potentially losing her and her family's livelihood to an individual she despised, I find it very hard to place guilt on her. If one's well being and future, and the well being of their loved ones, were abruptly put under intense pressure by some event out of their control, it isn't a surprise that they would justify going, you could say, "the extra mile" to try what they may to help. AppleJack, from what I can deduce, is a being willing of self sacrifice and heroism. She is not swayed by the notion of bringing harm to herself to help preserve others. And in this case in particular, the fact that she took the potion just tells me the lengths she trusts Twilight's mastery in magical practices. I will say, AppleJack's refraining from seeking help when the initial effects of the potion started becoming apparent was a bit odd, but it is easily explained by the fact that it was the potion meddling with her cognitive state. She wasn't in her right mind.
And then we get this ending. Twilight separates all involvement with the horror that occurred by, essentially, gutting AppleJack's utility and innocence from her, proclaiming that she herself had pushed herself into the madness that consumed her and that the fact she was an element would not save her since there was another that could fill that role.
It's honestly disturbing to witness this.
And that is why, there. should be. a sequel.
This leaves on a such a sour note that it makes the viewer desire something to wash that away and bring levity to the tale.
But then again, most horror refuses to do so, instead leaving their stories with bitter ends to make themselves more striking and, perhaps, memorable.
    Either way, great story.

Eh I feel like it was a mix of both Apple and Twilight. Twilight said "Use this as an absolute LAST resort." Implying, "Hey, I don't know what this will do to you." And AppleJack took it straight away. However, I think more of the blame lies on Twilight. For giving her that potion, AND THEN lying/gaslighting about it. Not owning up to her big mistake.

I like how this story is only loosely inspired by "The Russian Sleep Experiment," what with a total lack of sleep freeing some form of latent madness that supposedly lies within everyone. IMO, the effects of the madness are better demonstrated, in this story. At first, it seems as though Applejack is having a fairly straightforward break from reality that becomes more extreme as her sleep deprivation continues. That, and the focus of the story is on the consequences of the madness, instead of a "we are the madness that you kill with sleep" twist ending.

I like the grounded the beginning of the story is. The heatwaves ruining the crops and severely impacting a farmer's finances, which are barely enough to support them when harvests are fine, is pretty realistic.
Applejack's descent into insanity also doesn't feel too jarring, unlike a lot of creepypastas. (Up until the mandatory quote from the original Russian Sleep Experiment, that is) Her sleep deprivation led to her becoming emotionally unstable and forgetful, and with her added stress, made her insanely paranoid.

I love this story it’s so captivating, sad, gruesome, disturbing and I love all of how it’s told. Felt like a different kind of movie but good, and sometimes better in that way.

I know I'm 4 years late to this masterpiece of a story but, this was creepy, gory, and sad all at the same time.
The ending made me tear up a little. It showed how AJ was worried sick about what happened to Apple Bloom. Not to mention the fact that Twilight completely denied the fact that she gave AJ the potion in order to keep her perfect reputation. I felt bad for AJ. I'm not saying it was Twilight's fault, but I'm also not saying that it's 100% AJ's fault either. They both did wrong. For me, it's hard to choose who was really "in the wrong". But Twilight denying the fact she gave AJ the potion, id say she's pushed a little more towards the wrong. (in my opinion)
The art also caught my attention the most. It portrayed exactly what was happening, which, in my opinion, made everything more eerie and unsettling. The artists did amazing!
The voice acting, too. They did an amazing job aswell! The narrator's monotone voice creeped me out(not in a bad way) and the way the others voiced the characters, I don't have words to describe how I feel. But in short, I LOVED it!
In my opinion, this story is well-written. Maybe better than any other MLP "creepypastas" lol. But nonetheless, I enjoyed this!

*Ironically counter to this. I had taken sleeping pills to help myself sleep, spoiler they didn't work. However there was one memory I recalled, I was trying to fall asleep next to my brother, when all of a sudden something zapped me awake, and my heart skipped three beats causing me to jump and fall onto the floor. Needless to say my brother gave me a very confused expression.*

The way Twilight handled the situation at the end is probably the darkest part of this story.
It's easy to criticize her for her decision, but she would have to be quite the big person to take the fall with Applejack. It's cowardly yes, but the show has (obviously) never really put Twilight in a position like that.
It's interesting to speculate how a character might actually react.

I feel is a situation of unknowing disfortune. It starts out as a freind trying to help the other and then it starts to have shit it the fan at how fast it escalated! Twilight created the potion in a way to help Applejack, and AJ wants to help her family and save them from debt. Two innocent actions ended up in carnage!

I think this is everyponys fault:
Granny Smith for making the deal,
    Applejack by taking this measures
and Twilight for not taking the blame for the potion.
Yeah you can say Granny thinks there are no more options and Twilight advise AJ about the effects.
But as for Twilight she have to act like a princess and not just let AJ without an answer about her sister and just let her like that until de day AJ dies.
    Twi must be joking.
AJ is the element of honesty and no one can't take her place just like that.
That's not how the elements of harmony works and even less how friendship works.
Twilight is not worth for the element of Magic.
    Not anymore.
As for the VA's good job. I really love it.
All work very professional in my opinion.

Finn [Redacted] what i think they meant is how twilight never took the fault in the end of the story, and instead of helping applejack (albeit not many ways you can do that) she lied to applejack, locked her away, and abandoned her. Yes, she took the guilt at first, but once her own image was at stake, she pinned it onto applejack.

    • @iiartsyaestheticii5008
      @iiartsyaestheticii5008 3 роки тому +4

Finn [Redacted] I understand where you’re coming from, and I’m in no way saying Applejack wasn’t at fault, the only thing that I think puts a thorn in my side is that Twilight lied to applejack in the end, expecting her to believe it. I personally do believe majority are in the wrong, but to me Twilight and Applejack are a gray area of wrongdoing.

The voice acting here was so good! I honestly thought these were the real voice actors (unless they are) and the story is so good! The moral of the story is a very important one, and I’m assuming that by the name, this could’ve been an experiment that twilight set up, and that’s why she’s not admitting to giving applejack the syrum, or somehow she lost her memory such as when she was beaten by applejack

Oh wow, that was a doozy of a story, that was a captivating narration. I'm not gonna lie I was on the edge of my seat throughout and I could sense the anticipation, and predicting what might come next. I was fully engaged with the narration and events to follow. That's the brilliance of great storytelling, the amount of sympathy I felt for Apple Jack and the demons torturing her as she slowly sank into madness was agonizing. Also, I'm not one that handles blood and gore very well, it's always been a source of weakness for me, the sounds and narration along with the graphic descriptions had me wincing on a few occasions. Well done to all involved with this reading, seriously.
