Albert King did those big bends on the 1st string mostly, (2nd & 3rd too). I opened a show for him, and at one point he had left the dressing room and no one was in there. His guitar was on a table in it's case and the case was open. I couldn't resist, I went in a grabbed the guitar (his flying V with his name on the fingerboard), and I played two licks on it and put it back quickly, that cat might've skinned me alive if he caught me, (at least that's what I was thinking at that moment). The feel was super slinky, real easy to bend, I was surprised a bit, I thought like everyone else you know? big guy, big strings. I know the guitar was tuned down a step and a half so that helped it bend easy too. But I think the strings were probably .009 and .012, (1st&2nd) or .010, .013, etc. They bent way up real easy. The action was medium low (I think, what could I tell from 5 seconds). That being said, it's actually harder to control those light strings tuned down and easy to bend, than heavier strings. Albert had a great set of ears to do what he did. He was a monster musician. RIP Albert, you blew our minds. Also this guy, Monster Mike, what a great player. I really dig what he's got goin' on. Have mercy.
