Longest video to date, thanks for watching and supporting. I've added the subtitle options both in English and Portuguese as well - though it was the auto-translate option for Portuguese, I'll be working on tinkering that one throughout today and tomorrow.
The "Pele played against farmers" is just a thing eurocentrics do when the people who excel at something arent europeans, we can even go as far as saying that the true rise in quality of european leagues in comparison to southamerica didn't really happen until the late 90s. Damn, iirc, Tata Brown who scored argentina's first goal in the 1986 wc final had been released by a second division team before the WC. And played a good part of that final with a dislocated shoulder.
Exactly. Those Santos teams were beating the breaks off a LOT of those European sides when they were doing their world tours and the Campeonato Paulista itself was an absolute bloodbath during that era between Santos, Corinthians, São Paulo and my beloved Palmeiras.
I didnt think anything could make me happy during the international break, but I was wrong! I can't wait to learn some real stories about Brazilian football!!
Having seen the Romário and Edmundo video on Secret Base eons ago, it was interesting getting further context on the rap song they made together lol good stuff Fury.
Great video Fury! I'm in awe of a lot of these stories, especially the very last one since I saw the Netflix documentary for Eliza Samudio's case pop up in my queue.
Batalha dos Aflitos is BY FAR most iconic than any UCL final or game on 21st Century, i saw that thing happen live and it was INSANE, to this date is one of the best football games that i ever saw, its crazy shit levels like final minutes of 2022 world cup, the emotion part of it, i mean the games wasn't that technical, but in emotions was crazy, and i'm not a supporter of any of the teams involved, and you wanna know one more crazy thing? Batalha dos Aflitos 2 exists!!!
@@RafaelSantos_ Yeah, I felt bad in a way for having to abridge it this much when it’s something that deserves its own video alone. But an iconic game in all facets with everything that led up to it and the shenanigans of the match itself.
@@BrasilianFury i see, its a long video after all, and to edit everything takes a longer time... But a great job, and i agree Batalha dos Aflitos may be a great choice for an own video by itself
Fabulous video. Didn't expect anything else, of course! I feel there needs to be a full remake of the Bad Boys of Rap. Next essay idea: Biriba, the pissing dog (not sure there's enough content there for anything longer than a 2 minute video)
@@mustermannfm I half considered recording a version of it myself but I’d rather save that for a 100K subscriber special before I fully embarrass myself at that level
20:03 not only the games took place simultaneously but in the same city, since both Santa Cruz and Náutico are from Recife. Besides that, the stadiums are just 2km apart. One fun fact is that with Santa Cruz beating Portuguesa and Grêmio being in such a bad spot against Náutico, the trophy was taken to Santa Cruz's stadium, but since Grêmio managed to score and hold on their lead the organization had to go fetch the trophy in the other stadium so they could award it to Grêmio 😂😂
If this one does do well enough, it's definitely under consideration. May be a little bit though since I still have a few more FM24 video ideas before the switch to FM25 happens.
I hate that I knew that Bruno Fernandes would end up in this iceberg. Vile human that should have never been allowed to be released early into his sentence.
Yup, he was my introduction to flamengo. He’s a vile human that should be in jail forever. My girlfriend’s BIL likes Flamengo and groaned when I asked isn’t that the team with the murderer on it. His case is one of many reasons why my girlfriend stopped being a lawyer in Brazil and moved to America.

I mean,at a local level,if Denner had not died,he would've probably have been bigger than Neymar
Yeah that claim about pele played against farmers is racism by Europeans. Europeans conveniently forget to mention that Alberto Santos-Dumont was Brazilian too. Not to mention it was the 50’s, I assume most professional athletes had off-season jobs, I know that was the case in the US with our baseball, basketball and football players. We did not have a pro association football league back then, I’d assume that was fairly common elsewhere before these 100 million now near billion dollar contracts in pro sports.
Brazil got professionalized fairly early in football in the 1930's, but it wasn't uncommon for guys to have off-season jobs either. It's just a very myopic view from people who think football started in the 1990's or something.
@@BrasilianFury As an American it’s interesting because compared to sports here, soccer professionalized late in Europe and Brazil. Baseball was professionalized in the 1870’s. But it seems similar to the US where players had off season jobs even after the sports were professionalized. Which is why I think it’s Europeans being racist and not liking that a former colony with a large black and mixed race population bested them at a sport they brought there.
41:04-One thing you forgot about Sao Caetano. They played one game in Brazileirao with sick player(Serginho who had heart problem(his heart was much bigger than normal)) and he died on the pitch. Sao Caetano was punished heavily and relagated that year from Brazileirao.
