I also use the Xfasten foam tape. Many people don't realize that the large roll oof Scotch isn't acid free. The Xfasten foam tape is. That was important to me, because I have family and friends who actually keep my cards. I didn't like how expensive the Scotch brand was for it to not be archival quality.
@Crucibelle Oh all right...I concede that if we're talking about a greeting card, it may not matter that if falls apart or gets nasty IN THE LANDFILL. However, a SCRAPBOOK is a different matter!!!!!
At last I know where I can obtain the tomboy mono multi glue from. I see all you wonderful demonstraters use in your videos. I tune in from Australia thank you so much for your tips & for sharing. Kindest regards Jean 🤗
Love the zig glue for the mats. When I 1st started using my S&C, I went right through my mat!! Boy that was an eye opener for sure. However, I taped it, on bottom, with wide clear shipping tape. Been using it ever since!! BTW- that was close to a year ago. Still going strong wire it. Love the ideas you give us Courtney. Again, thx so much.
I love your tip on using the self healing cutting mat on your cutting machine, I’m going to do this right now, thanks🙋🏽♀️👍🏽 Ooh I love a thrifty crafter, I’m in the UK & buy all my craft dies, stamps & bits & pieces from Ali express, the savings are amazing.
This is a wonderful video. I love cardmaking but I am now living on a limited income. It is great to find ways to save on craft supplies so I can keep making cards.
The idea about the mono glue on the paper in your misti, Yes! I paid for the Eliz craft sticky pads ! Love your ideas, need to figure out where to store the adhesive eraser and the mono where it's handy but not getting lost on my craft table like they are now!
I cannot express how thankful I am that you took the time to make this video and share it with us. It's all so incredibly helpful and I actually use probably 85% of the things you showed. YOU ROCK! :)
Such a useful video. Perfect for those who are trying to do crafting on a budget. I make cards for charity so such tips are awesome for me. Many thanks.
Wow! Very good ideas. I use that very foam tape so I got that right 😀. I also bought a self healing cutting mat (that I forget to use 🤪). Good tip on the repositionable adhesive! I have that and can use it! Yay! I have glass that I work on and never use a craft mat. My glass is huge as it used to be on a coffee table. Seems to work for me. The gel pen is a great idea which thankfully I am using, love it. All great ideas Courtney!
This is the most useful Card making video I've ever seen on UA-cam. I'm in the UK but I can probably source all the products fairly easily. Thank you so much for sharing these tips. I don't usually select notifications, but I'll be looking forward to your next posting.
Hi Courtney! For anyone who has a computer and wants a cutting machine, the Silhouette Cameo is a cheaper alternative. I am unbiased, in that I used to have a Cameo, I'm not associated with them, but I have experience of both print and cut AND the Scan and cut methods on it. (I even made a tutorial on how to avoid buying the special scanning mats...) There is a bit of learning to do but it can do what the Brother machine does, so if cost is a factor then it makes sense to look at it. They are coming out with some new machines this autumn, so there will be a lot of offers on the older models too! (I changed to my Silver Bullet for entirely different reasons, that would not affect most users). Re the mats, Eileens Tack it over and over also works, just apply with a scraper or old store card. If you don't need specially marked mats, I have found that Ikea sell great table mats made from very tough plastic, for a Euro a time...just make sure not to choose a textured one.
@@courtneykreeber1647 The one for the scan'n'cut mat making? This is it ua-cam.com/video/zMZirwgs7aQ/v-deo.html I have a whole Silhouette playlist. It's an old video but should still be relevant.
OHMY, you might be my new BFF. I hadn't tried the Zig pen on my Scan and Cut mat, but had been doing this for my Cricut mat, duh. I had just been using blue tape till I busted out a new mat. Also, I'm about to slice up my stash of self healing mats!
I use my old cuttlebug plates for my Gemini. Trying to use my old Grand Calibur plates, they last so much longer than the acrylic plates. I need to keep working on the right sandwich layout. I’ll try the self- healing mats, great idea! Thank you!
I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this but the Dollar Tree sells those "absorbers". I picked up a ton last year for summer fun gift baskets. I saw them a couple of weeks ago again in my Dollar Tree. We live in the desert so we have all kinds of items to keep us cool. The Dollar Tree towel is about than half the size of the Absorber. It still comes in the plastic case that keeps it a little damp.
Wow I’ll have to check it out. I live in New York so we don’t usually have a problem keeping cool with the exception of a couple of months lol. Where are you from? I love the desert!!!
Great $ saving tips! I’ve used the Gina K stamp whammy but found it left residue on the stamps and wore out quickly. I went back to the car shammies. I got mine at Walmart... and I love them! Plus they’re reusable... just wash and go! Love the Tombo multi glue too! I love Art Glitter Glue but you don’t get as much wiggle room as you do with Tombo. But it sure is hard to get off your fingers if you’re a messy crafter! That be me! 😎. Thank you Courtney! 💕🙋♀️
Courtney you have no idea how much I appreciate this video, thank you so much for taking the time to make it and letting us know. Great information for us card makers, and scrapbookers ❤️😊
Great tips. I bought my Absorber from WalMart a couple of years ago & still use it. Some friends got something similar from the Dollar Store. And I just ordered the white gel pens from Amazon, thanks to you!
Awesome great tips. I do not make a lot of cards, and have been buying my foam tape at Hobby Lobby, well, dang, that gets expensive REAL fast. I will be ordering that tape from Amazon this week. I already ordered the zig 2 way glue from a previous video you did and wow, thanks for that tip. You are awesome! tfs.
I love video’s like this...this can be a very expensive hobby, and every little bit helps. One question, does the foam tape covering peel off easily? I have bought some brands that were such a struggle to peel the facing tape away that I didn’t buy it again, how is this one?
I switched from tombow glue to art glitter glue, but I have my zig for my mat. I think I will try making a sticky mat for my stamp platform. Amazing tip!
Someone liking this video reminded me to do this! I discovered a partial bottle of tombow tucked away on my shelf. After letting it dry, I pressed it on my clothes and my hands to reduce the stick a bit. Its now going into my stamp platform. I don't love the TH platform for clear stamps. Removing the magnets helps. I prefer my stamp perfect for clear stamps, but don't always grab both

What's the most affordable way to do die cuts, or cutting with a machine as you said die cuts can get pretty expensive. Sorry for disturbing you 🤗😄 I don't currently have a cricut, die cut machine or anything of the sort so I'm hoping to get a good, affordable and worthwhile option. Thank youl
If you are looking for just basic shapes and be able to cut out your stamped images I would go with the Brother scan n cut. If you are looking for die cutting with stitched edging and things like that I’d go with a Gemini or Big Shot. There are lots of them out there. But keep in mind you’d also have to purchase the dies themselves. With the Scan N Cut there are no additional dies needed. Both options are fairly expensive. Keep an eye out on eBay and Facebook groups where people are selling used machines and dies. Sometimes you can fine a really good deal. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
