Many years ago I was in the national guard and we went into a tornado / flood destroyed Mobile home park. Unbelievable what I saw. For example, picture top of a sardine can and how you roll it back with the key they provide. At least on the old days in the old cartoons and TV shows. The side of the trailer was rolled and ripped from one end to the other end. The inside of that wall was the back of the open shelf food pantry. There was not a can out of line. Nothing was moved inside that home. Then looking from the outside in these cans are perfectly aligned and they have been sitting there for a long time apparently. Get this there was still dust on the cans we literally touch the labels and the tops of the cans and wipe the light film of dust off of it. It wasn't white from the sheetrock it was ordinary dust and you be wiping off of it when you open it up with the can opener the next day. I found that became a future us attorney General, what is a area Small Time politician back then. see I went in to rescue a couple of kids one trailer was on top of another trailer that was turned upside down and the water was flooded through their gas bubbling from The leaky gas mains and pipes. Unfortunately they gave me the second highest civilian metal and a couple of military ribbons because I was able to rescue one child 🚸. I've checked over the decades and they never did find that little boy that I couldn't get too. This is the same natural disaster declared by the state and federal government has that tin can open trailer. That's just how different it was from 100 yd away.
@@Chereese0808 There were many other comparable stories too. How something could go greatly untouched, then just over a little bit something is destroyed. I've been to other tornado sites after the fact. But not recently. Some of this just hangs on to a person.
In my opinion it should be mandatory in every state that all trailer parks, RV parks, camping areas, and apartment complexs should have storms shelters that will hold all of their tenants/guests.
The costs associated with that would cause homelessness as owners closed down. It would be devastating across the board. This owner could close down and sell the land for 1000 times what he'll ever get from what he's doing. This is very prime property and he's protecting the environment, not really providing the park for the campers. He allows that use.
People can CHOOSE to only stay in places with storm shelters. After going from rolling my truck upside down in a ditch because I couldn't outrun the F5 tornado in Enid, Ok to crawling out of it after it rolled a few times, to making sure my dogs were okay and we just left it and started searching for people. I always pray we rescue, but ultimately when we are called, it's for recovery. To have 3 experienced cadaver dogs chunked like lottery balls in my truck to out searching..it can't be described. But, in Oklahoma, tornadoes are the norm. Florida had a round of tornadoes exactly one year ago, We were there. As for shelters, do you realize the size of the structure needed to shelter a 70 unit RV park, even if only a single person is in each camper? RV parks are seldom built with anything but cramming in as many campers as close together as possible..They sure are not going to spare land for a shelter that can hold another 30 campers let alone spend that much building. Ultimately, to be fair, if you are a sane, lucid adult..it's your own responsibility to find shelter or leave when warned..not the RV park owner's responsibility. The owner warns you, the news, your neighbors even Police and Fire Dept. The park owner isn't holding you against your will. In FL if you loose power .. calling the utility company and reporting the outage is your option but if you have health issues and use electric medical devices..the utility company is under NO obligation to prioritize your electric being restored first. They will tell you that if you have ,medical issues it's up to you to go to hospital or somewhere for those needs to be met. It's not the utility company or the park owner's responsibility..it's yours. I always find it interesting that when we show and everything is being organized, those whom know us from past events seem to get real quiet and stare at us, knowing I bring the Grim Reaper hounds.. I always pray but then, we also pray for those families of the ones not blessed with another day. Again, I understand your desire to protect everyone but from searching disasters since the 80's world wide with my Grim Reaper Hounds, people tend to ignore warnings and ask anyone during Katrina if death is worth the bravado. . By the way, I no longer use shepherds so amidst the usual shepherds and labs doing rescue, my great big Snoopy looking hound and airedales definitely clue people in we are there for a different reason. I've had now my 3rd Welsh hound ( well into his teens and not crippled up like shepherds are at 6 or 7, and two airedales. Both breeds can herd, find lost folks, apprehend and of course cadaver recovery but also we can hunt wild hogs when the stores are closed or have no power. Airedales were the first military and police dogs till Vietnam. They also are hypoallergenic and not the massive Shedders or one trick ponies like shepherds. It's my responsibility to see that I provide the best rescue and recovery dogs but sure is nice to be able to herd with them , feed people with them, and have great calming effect after a disaster, as opposed to the nervousness people experience in seeing a shepherd. . I miss and love every shepherd that shared in my quest to respectfully help people be recovered.. but for me, again it's a choice specific to the circumstances, the airedales and a Welsh hound are what work for me in providing those services. You would be surprised how many cows we've had to round up, and people we went out to hunt for and feed after a long, emotional day and everyone else deservedly has quit to rest up. So, hope for all, pray for all but do what's best for you so my Grim Reaper hounds don't have to find you.. Please please contact the fire dept of you can donate water or anything to help these folks. I believe Lucky Puppy in Bonifay has taken in several pets found after all this..
Oh my, My heart bleeds for all of these people…. I’m sending healing prayer to all involved. I lived through Hurricane Harvey in SE Coastal Texas in August 2017 and it was devastating. 😢😢😢
Prayers for everyone involved. I noticed that it looked like some of those RVs were tiny houses. And although damaged, not as much?? Hard to say for sure since I only saw a few of the homes. Extremely sad for those who lost their homes. I am praying for God to help you right now. I know what is it like to not have a home of my own. I know.
Tornadoes happen everywhere. But Florida is #12 out of 50 states in median household income. I have lived in Florida for 30 years & I have seen about half the state & over half the state is definitely working poor.
@GaryBriggs-xc1ku Wrong, hasn't been an EF5 since 2013. That's a record amount of time without one that strong. Also they're no more frequent. It's El Nino again and every time it's El Nino there's more tornadoes, once La Nina returns we'll see a decrease, like always. Please do research before commenting nonsense.
All states and governments should be responsible for any upgrades to infrastructure, including costly change in your dwelling ( all housing/ structures).we pay "taxes" ( money is a made-up construct) for it.
This is not a phenomenon or anything new, it's only since more population decided to live there and reportage went 24/7 365 that this 'naturally' occurring event seems a danger or worth thinking about. One might as well panic at rain, as a comparison.
Your voting booth is now in Texas so don't forget you may have to drive awhile to vote . Think of all the books you won't have to burn and the school torn down for free.
My heart goes out to all those poor victims. 🙏🙏

And that's what it all boils down to in the end isn't it? Money instead of people's safety. It's no wonder this world is in the shape it's in. Smh

Sucks how a tornado can destroy so much property, how could anyone afford to rebuild?
