We have the golf swing and your total game boiled down to the 5 most important keys in our Top Speed Golf System. Hi Clay, great videos! For 22 years I've been an amputee. i only have my right arm and i play left.
    Your videos and drills are usually still helpful despite my situation....Thanks!
    This year i've been able to get better results more consistently with my driver and all my irons.

    great video as always! you really are one of the best instructors on the planet. I went to a pga event and watched the pros and it was really an eye opening experience watching their trajectories. When they drive the ball takes off high, stays high and comes down slowly and then rolls and rolls. some of them were getting 40 yds roll!!!! They all had this beautiful "rainbow" trajectory that was opposite what I do!!! Im really working on this but battling yrs of muscle memory hitting down (like an iron). Sometimes i aim for a cloud instead of a spot in the fairway, that has helped. I say "hit it into that point in the cloud" as my target.

      Hi frmer td
      Thank you for your comment. That's great you were able to watch some of the guys on tour hit balls. Those guys are unbelievable. Keep up the good work and good luck on the game.

      Top Speed Golf - Clay Ballard just to give followup, i have spent the last 2 weeks hitting thousands of balls on the range UP on the ball and am really improving. That beautiful "rainbow trajectory" is showing up and when it lands it rolls and rolls. some advice, to save your body from injury, just do 1/2 swings. you will hit it only 200 yrds but will muscle memory it with the full swing. i hit a large bucket with only 1/2 swings and then try a small bucket with full swings. Muscle memory is building and i wont need back surgery.

      +frmer td I'm just now learning how to hit up on the ball too, anything you learned lately to help me out, I understand now how the driver head is supposed to come up into the ball, now I gotta execute the swing.

    Very good Clay...those first set of numbers look exactly like mine, too much spin and not enough distance. The tips were great and tomorrow I'll try them out and see if we can't improve. The move stuff is helping tons, thanks.

    I am very impressed by your simple manner of addressing the issue. I am 71 and remember Jimmy Ballard when he was a top pro instructor, are you related?

    Great vid! I especially liked the part about the wrist bowing. Will placing the ball more forward and higher off the tee cause the shot to go left?

    • @pgre417
      @pgre417 7 років тому

      Or is the club face just closed too strong due to the exaggerated bowing of the left wirst? Thanks for your great video series, it helps me a lot for self-training on the range and the bowing helps me a lot to compress the ball und drive it forward with a swoosh, at least with the irons, instead of launching it weak and high into the air after impact. The driver is another issue...

    THANKS CLAY, I am actually coming too far from the inside. Block or hook depending on my club face…thoughts?

  • @The559Jeff
    @The559Jeff 4 роки тому +2

    Would you then have too much shaft lean at impact and the face will be open right?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jeff, if you hit up on the ball then this will help you get it in the air. You square the face by bowing the lead wrist. It's possible to get too much forward shaft lean but that's really hard to do. You'll know if you're striking it in the center or higher on the face and the ball is coming out really low. Play well! I tried to go to your video, but there was an error and it said the embed code was wrong. Does this happen to everyone else?
    UPDATE: I tried again and it worked. There was something wrong the first time.

  • @jancenj2218
    @jancenj2218 4 роки тому +1

    With your head far behind the ball, how do you see the shaft from this perspective on address? Do you see a shaft lean? By how much? How far do you position the club head behind the ball and where is the butt end of the club pointing?

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jancen, it's personal preference how you set up. The only thing that matters is impact. If you're wanting to test which ways work best for you then set up with both extremes and everything in between. Hit several ball from each position and see what works best for you. Play well! i been wondering if a shorter driver shaft would help me with this, im a great iron striker, i even teach golf, but i’ve ALWAYS had issues with this. I’ll catch one right and boom 300, 291. 109 mph. But then 80% of the time my hand get out in front of me, i don’t push into the ground, i get off balance, and while it still goes straight (not always lol) it will only carry 245

    This was a really cool video 💥 Since my FT Tour driver has been in my closet, I may have been playing the wrong ball. I have since learned, my Pro V1x is a high launch golf ball 😏 Playing a mid range ball could help. But, since alot of my game comes from around the greens, will I sacrifice spin? Thank you 👦

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  5 років тому

      Hi Alan, it's not going to make a big difference. The biggest difference you can make in the flight of the ball is going to be what you do with the club. I would make sure that you're not releasing the club early. You want to release the club out in front like Clay talks about in the Top Speed Golf System on the website. If you're looking to change balls then I would try as many different ones as you can and see what you like the best. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

    I played the same course twice this weekend and one hole hit two drives cause i lost sight of the ball. The first ball went in the front bunker the second landed on the green and rolled off. It was about 280-300 yards. This is about what id expect since i hit my 3 wood about 250-260. Normal driver for me atm goes about 260-270. I definitely think im hitting down on it since i can feel that im hitting the sweetspot most the time. Hopefully this helps ty.

    i really enjoy ts golf videos but i have to say that this one seems to contradict what others teach regarding driver. in this one Clay suggests delofting with a bowed wrist at impact vs. letting the wrists roll at impact which is suggested in other ts videos as well as almost all other driver related videos on youtube. it doesnt seem like doing both is possible and my spin rate is off the chart so i really need clarity here please

    What if I'm getting 40° of angle at impact and hitting the ball too high with about 4800 spin rate?

      The only way to know is to try it and see what happens or get in front of one of the accurate launch monitors e.g. Trackman, GC Quad, Flightscope X3 and see if changing lofts makes a difference. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

    But your angle of attack ultimately was -0.6. The whole point of the video was to hit up on driver, but you hit down on it. What you did still did not accomplish actually hitting up on it.
