He's a minor celebrity in his home country and ran for president,he's like Kanye West or Eminem for that culture. His Brother worked in Norway, and that's either his equivalent of bling or a sign he had to struggle in a sense. Really either he means he moved up to having his family be able to work in Norway or they had to go there for the money. 1 to 1 Accuracy.

I think the problem with rap is actually caused by capitalism itself. Rap was once a unique cultural act (a resource) that quickly became repackaged and monetised for the consumption of a wider population looking for new sensationalism (the market). It was no longer about the lamenting of the social/economic suffering of a particular ethnic/social group FOR that ethnic/social group, but instead became a cartoonish portrayal of "stealing" sex, money, and drugs away from "the man" (the product). It purposefully became more and more perverse, specifically because of the increasing perversity of the wider population and the increasing sensationalism of the mass media. In short, rappers simply became modern-day minstrels that now entertain the constant perversity of a wider population, all at the expense of the ethnic group it originally came from. Take a resource, make product for a market, then gain profit, NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES. Thanks capitalism!

I'm confused?

    • @adudzik

What you missed is that there is a world outside of soundbites and video clips. This was not "content" created for a UA-cam channel where the point is to get relevant clickthroughs by making the content match the title. This is a clip taken from a two-hour academic lecture which is part of a two-lecture series. If you want the full context, listen to the full lectures. If you don't, then enjoy whatever sense you can extract from the soundbite and move on.

After you've broken down all the rules and traditions, someone, out of necessity, will try to discover first principles, from square one, and if they exist, and people preserve them because they find them useful. When you argue all things are merely the expression of succeeding in argumentation, you'll find that even the rhetoric du jour will be following the fundamentals of phenomena if allowed to progress.

@Pete Haskell In it he writes about the advancement of new form of Communism with this current pandemic, not that of old Soviet Communism, but a new form of solidarity whose some features are even propagated and practiced by Capitalist nations like the USA and UK.
Zizek also writes about barbarism appropriated by the current political system e.g Italy planning to wipe out old citizens bcoz of their anxiety by the contagious virus.
I like how he writes by saying " Everyone is a socialist during a crisis" and talks about more radical change in the institutions like healthcare, global coordination among the states and so on.
To make it short, his last chapter " Communism or Barbarism as simple as that" provoke the readers in a crucial way to find out an alternative political system which has more than what we have now. Lastly, it also has some suggestions on how to balance your daily routine and mental harmony

the circularity is rarely expressed, so I too have difficulty to put it in words, though it is 100% clear.
some black people say, they want to fight the law because the law is structurally racist in a number of aspects. the law and its corrupt ways of enforcement keep them at a level where they also cannot reach a higher moral standard. they die because they have no access to expensive medicine etc. etc.. what about that?
the rappers describe a reality, mostly from the inside. so, should we punish them? WTF
there is huge diversity. 50cent has little to do with krs one or talib kweli. some are just bad guys making money on sensation, swimming with the stream of big pop business. and this business protects its cash cows to some extent.
the lie is in neglecting the asynchronous historical time line. when people live in a different phase or century, how can we apply the same rules on them? this is also true for many white or asian regions. the colonial approach to bring them culture, enlightenment, education, morals, in a messianic way, has rarely ever worked. people give lip-service quickly, when they see that the other is stronger. but with their hearts deeply, they piss on them. it is not THEIR development nor representation. what did always happen? they got punished, and many became terrorists, and I am with them in MY heart. because this is colonial, too.

black people were deprived education for centuries. but some long-term aspects by education are always working through the "family" or dynasty. the parents have to be in. you know, they are academics etc. so the children not only receive what they are offered in the private school, college etc., but also already what their parents had received in their academic education, and in their elite lives. and by purpose, blacks should never have that, so said the slave holders.
and now, the blacks get reprimanded because many of them suffer from a lower level of morals and education. that's what I mean with BS bingo. the question about how we should apply standards on them, or how it is racist to not apply these standards, is intellectually dishonest and manipulative, and a red herring.

I don't think that "authenticity" is the justification for why black people can use the N-word and white people can't.
Rather it's because the meaning of the N-word depends on who is saying it in what context.
This is the same for all language actually. See Ludwig Wittgenstein's language games. The big conservative misunderstanding is to assume that the meaning of words is absolute, context-independent. Similar trends can be observed for example in bible interpretation or religious scripture interpretation in general. Naive conservative interpreters take everything literally and absolute without taking into consideration the historical context where the words were written.
Also rap music is an art form, which provides yet another context.
Cultural rules seem paradoxical, when you ignore context.
As Jordan Peterson says, the conservative personality likes clear, fixed rules as an orientation and is averse to anything that challenges those rules or that creates ambiguity and inconsistency in those rules. Maybe it's not the conservative personality though, maybe it's people who are too stupid to deal with the complexities and ambiguities of cultural rules. Conservatism might be a form of cognitive deficiency, an inability to deal with social complexities.
Blaming rap music for the disintegration of the black family is about as stupid as blaming video games for school shootings.

Culture isn't rational and doesn't have to be.

White America's suppressed self disgust seems to be projected onto Black America. And for it's part Black America seems to sense this unease, and presents exaggerated, often grotesque images of decadence, egoism, sexual prowess etc.

But I read a book about anti-semitism in Germany, and how Jews really simulated to Germany better than any other country in Europe. To the point where Germanism and Judaism seemed one and the same, and that closeness of culture, rather than otherness led to Germany being the most anti-semitic country in Europe. It's not that Jews were resented for not assimilating to Germany, but, on the contrary - they assimilated too well. They became a reflection of everything the Germans didn't like about themselves.

You do know Zizek doesn't understand art or the mystical experience right? That is a Buddha I see? He has a lot of good things to say but is head in lost in books

@Terminator X That's not my point. Zizek is only words and words are limited. He doesn't have a proper understanding of reality if he doesn't have the mystical experience. Anyway my question wasn't to you and I'm not looking for an argument/debate.

Zizek is a neurotic, rural peasant from former Yugoslavia, he doesn't really understand the paradigm of rap music.
