    Today we are looking at my new Janome XL-2 (otherwise known as the new home 900) and trying her out by sewing my new graded sewing pattern. Also if you notice the audio is a little weird, yep we had some issues so I'm sorry but I saved it as best I could!

    How did I miss this video when it came out?? That is the most brilliant storage I've ever seen on a sewing machine. It warms the cockles of my little want-to-be-organized heart. The shirt is wonderful. Love the sleeves. So medieval-esque. Thanks for sharing your new machine and if you haven't given her a name, I'd call her Inga.

      Glad you enjoyed it! And I love the storage too! (So much more practical and easy to get to than under where your sewing) the shirt is also now a form favourite in my wardrobe :)

    I was confused for a moment when you said "soda". You meant 'soda pop', my mind thought "baking soda" which IS good for putting out fires ! 🔥 LOL!

    Great machine, hope you are able to get parts and bobbins for it. Love the funky coloured dress you are wearing, it is just amazing, the weather looks so nice there.

    Fabulous machine
    Very ahead of its time with all the features. You should name her Scarlet.

    Hi... I am really glad that I saw this video. I have almost the same sewing machine and it is from my mother. She had this over 20 years or more already, a present from a good friend way back. However she didn't use this because she don't have interest in sewing. She just kept this and let other barrow if needed. And now, I got interest in sewing again for I want to make small business out of it like making scrunchies and more, however the manual was written in japanese and there are some details that I totally don't understand and missed important information for its part functions. I already try to search this machine in google last year, hoping that I can be able to see manual on this that can be translated in english but I failed and I also tried in youtube but the videos were in japanese and it's blurry and hard to understand. Just Last night I tried to open the machine again and try to understand the manual base on the photo however I can't still be able to run it. I'm about to give up on this sewing machine and just sell this tomorrow in the market place and buy simple machine. but for the last time I search this again just this time in youtube and here I came accross on your channel and really inspired with your feedback about this machine. And we can totally considered this as vintage thing and it makes it more beautiful. I still have hope that I can be able to smoothly used this. Please notice me, I just wanted to ask for help, maybe you have information on this machine written in english or anything that can be help of. I will also try to explore more on your videos to gather more information on this. Thank you so much in advance 😊😘

    Because of your video, I looked up a Vintage Janome and found one which is an 813. I bought it and it is like yours except mine is a blue-green color where yours is a reddish color. Same case, same way to lift up the top and all the gadgets ect. I have a manual except it is in Japanese. Shame on you for getting me to buy yet ANOTHER vintage machine. hahahaha!

    Hi, I am considering purchasing this from FB Marketplace for my mum as her Juki sewing machine shorted last year. Have you had any issues with this machine since?? Also, how much does it weigh? It seems like your video is the most helpful video I have found for this machine. Thank you for making it.

    Your review makes me want one of rhese machines. I've been googling it but i cannot find if you can lower the feed dogs to do free motion embroidery on it. Do you know please?

    • @AnnabelleAndBensAntics
      @AnnabelleAndBensAntics  Рік тому

      You can lower the feed dogs but I haven't experimented with that yet. Having said that I have a project coming up where I'm going to need to do a lot of free motion quilting on her so keep your eyes out for that video (probably going to happen at the end of the year) to see how it goes :)

    Hi Annabelle and Ben, Can I ask if the gearing in this machine is all metal? 🙂

      I believe it is. Certainly feels that way considering how heavy it is!

    Call her Heidi or Clara. Heidi, Girl of the Alps animated series started in 1974. Just realised you said Sweden not Switzerland lol. In that case Agnetha or Anni-Frid 😅

    Bernina is GREATLY overrated. Vintage Janome is kind of the sweet spot in terms of performance for money paid. Plus you can find feet and bobbins (Class 15) almost anywhere.
