This week we are fixing up and using this Singer 201k treadle sewing machine which is in the most amazing cabinet! I used it to sew this 80's Cloth Kits tartan shirt which is just so amazing and looks great! The whole thing came out so lovely, I'm incredibly pleased that I gave this a try for the first time :D

I love the sound she makes when sewing.
I do to ❣️
Watching this while sewing on my Singer 201 from the 1940s
I hope whatever your making is going good :)
What a wonderful machine. It looks amazing with that fabric top. The colour of that tartan looks perfect on you. Thanks for another marvelous video.
Thankyou!
Here's a tip, only use vintage bobbins. The modern bobbins, their hole is a tiny bit smaller than the vintage bobbins. And the smaller hole keeps them from fiting on the bobbin winder shaft. Ask me how I know. LOL wow, you got a wonderful machine in the 201! Esp being a centenial! Well done!
This machine actually went to my friend but she's been well loved and well used!
Great shirt! Really pretty on you. And I loved the clean up of the machine! Thanks!
Thankyou! I'm glad you think it looks nice as well :)
The shirt is beautiful. It looks great on you. You are so talented; and your treadle cabinet looks so good. I love your ideas for projects.
Thanks! I think my friend is going to love using her!
The clean up of the machine looks great. I love that blouse, it's a perfect color for you. Good job.
Thankyou :)
In your defense, that 66 manual would never have told you the 201 has reverse.
Hahaha, exactly my point!
I have three of 201k, one 15-88, 221k, 29k, 216k and these are just my Singer girls. Living in Germany, my collection of German vintage Pfaff and other brands is a lot larger. And yes I have a lot of modern machines, too 😅.
It’s nice to know there are more crazy people like me out there!
Greetings from Germany to you all! ❤❤❤
Oh wow! That sounds like a nice collection! And yes, us crazy seeing machine people realy do need to stick together lol
Could you keep a handcrank machine at your new place because they take up so little space? I can’t imagine not having access to my sewing for a whole year! Best of luck on the move!
Thankfully we have room for a machine but I can't take any of my ones with me straight away. I've got my eye on one now so fingers crossed it works out!
Great machine, came up a treat. Love the shirt looks lovely, just the sort of thing I would wear.
Thankyou I love it to and will be so sad to see the machine go!
Bernadette Banner has a UA-cam on using treadle machines. It can be a bit tricky.
Once I got going it was actually really easy to use.... Well once it wasn't set to reverse lol
There is a specific sewing machine grease called, Sew-Retro Grease Motor and Gear Lubricant, for antique machines. Obviously, it would be for the gears only on this type of machine. It's a different grease from the type sold now for contemporary machines. Putting grease on certain areas of the mechanics is different from just oiling everything.
I have actually been looking into greasing some machines but I've had so many where the old grease has caused some pretty big problems that I'm not sure I want to use it
Yes, Iknow what you mean. Every case is different.
Fantastic video ! What a wonderful machine ! Tempted to get a treadle.Though I do like the thought of a hand crank !
I think a tredal is easier as it keeps your hands free but not my anchel aches the next day from using it!
@AnnabelleAndBensAntics is it possible that you're using it wrong? The best position for most people is one foot forward, one back--not both feet parallel to each other.

I have a 1912 White brand treadle machine (post pictures in Discord?). I find them fun to use, but tiring. It would be cool to see an updated video on all your machines. The shirt looks really good.
Thanks, try and film as I pack :)
Oh and please do post the pictures on discord I would love to see!
