    This content is really useful for those of us involved in motorsport. The Golf R is a heavy car so making it nimble is a real challenge. You have recently fitted a Wavetrac for me and that has sharpened up the front and turning off XDS has helped too but weight is the main issue. I am very interested in your future changes to geometry and chassis. Thanks a lot.

      Thanks for the feedback Steve! We are looking forward to doing more of these, this video was very brief and we hope to go into more detail with the developments on this platform!
      Have you got any hill climb videos we can share?

      @@RegalAutosport Sadly not. I've got enough to worry about. Season is pretty much over now but I'll do some next year. Last outing is Goodwood 2nd October.

    Great content ! Would be good to know how the 235 / 35 R19 ET38 wheels were. Were there any issues like rubbing etc ? Congrats !

    Would be good to know how much wear the new Cup2 tyres had. How many track days could you get from a full set? Considering the understeer torture

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  3 роки тому

      The wear is currently uneven as the suspension isn't optimised, so it's not really a fair comparison. When the suspension is optimised, the wear will be less as more of the tyre will be used.

    Looks like you need more camber in the front end!

    Any idea if the Evo S coilovers are much different to the older B14 design internally? I can see they’ve had a make over externally but am wondering how they compare to the B14’s in both ride and handling characteristics.
    I’ve got a mk7 and am interested in fitting some Bilstein’s to my car but have no idea whether to go with the B12 pro kit, or the B14 / Evo S coilovers so would like to know the difference in ride and handling between those three.
    Mine is a daily driver only, no track work for me so improved handling with minimally sacrificed ride comfort is essential!
    Great in depth review by the way, keep up the good work lads 👍

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the comment Alex, the 'EVO' series is completely different to the 'B' series of suspension in terms of construction and intended use. e.g. B14 vs EVO S, B14 is firmer whereas EVO S is closer to stock ride quality. Then if you want a track suspension, they have the 'T' range, which is yet to be released across all models.
      If it's a daily driver, EVO S will be the one.

      @@RegalAutosport thanks so much for your reply! Sounds like the EVO S is the one I need to start saving towards then 👍

    During the track day, how many times did you accidently trigger one of the steering wheel touch buttons? Do the gloves prevent activation? Thanks!

    Love the video. I’m curious the other temps at the track. Oil, Trans, Rear Diff. Any issues there? Regarding brakes, did you install SS brake lines? Thanks in advance! Cheers!

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Michael! Gearbox temps were around 100c, which is probably a big high. We'll be sure to record more temps as we get further down the line with this project.
      We have not touched the brakes yet.

    Do you think the Bilstein EVO S coilovers would stand up to a few track days?

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  2 роки тому +1

      It's not a kit aimed at track use, but we did track it. It's better than stock but ideally suited to road use and someone who wants to dial in their own ride height.

  • @vipeme1
    @vipeme1 3 роки тому +1

    Will you be optimizing the chassis and working to reduce that understeer with stabilizer bars and/or springs? I would be curious as to what setup works. Of course it would be nice to put a big rear bar on to make the car neutral, but of course it's a tradeoff with how much you then unload the inside rear wheel in a corner...

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! We will be optimising the chassis, springs are good for lowing the car but shorten the stock damper travel meaning it has to do the same work in less travel, not ideal. Anti-roll bars are good for adjusting balance but shouldn't be used as a band aid for bad suspension to begin with.

    • @vipeme1
      @vipeme1 3 роки тому

      @@RegalAutosport @Regal Autosport Right. I hope that the chassis will be relatively neutral once the roll couple is shifted with stab bars. I have one of these cars ordered and will compete nationally in autocross in the US with it. In the class which I'll compete, only a single stab bar can be changed from stock. Plus alignment with stock adjustment.

    Cool video, looks like a lot of fun 👍😎. . .how did you find the handling with the evo’s on track compared to the road, or is it hard to tell because of the cup2 tyres?

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  3 роки тому +2

      They are definitely not a track day suspension! For the road they are perfect and for track they also work well on stock tyres but running stock tyres, they aren't the right use case. We are looking to make a custom kit!

    "oversteer it self corrects", is it due to the front biased nature of the AWD?

    • @RegalAutosport
      @RegalAutosport  3 роки тому

      This is during cornering, the rear-end has a lot of grip which means the front end just washes out.
