      Actually you can take the exam at age 14. You just cannot be certified until you are 16. This was a trick question I got on a practice exam. Plus, age 14 (being minimum qualification age) was sent to me upon confirmation by my testing location site. Also verified by The Pilot institute.

      @@BlokhinFilms I saved to a pdf the official “outdated” study guide put out by the FFA and had it printed and comb bind. I took a free online class, which was a set of videos with a few ideas of questions that would be on the test. But aside from that, I watched lots of UA-cam videos covering different topics and some that offered sample test questions. But I ended up not buying any classes or any textbooks. I found out about purchasing the actual sample supplement material of maps that they give you to take the test too late to order it before taking my scheduled test. Otherwise, I would have. If you have time to familiarize yourself with the actual maps on it and the METAR reports, thats fewer surprises for the test.

    Just got back. Cant believe I got a 95. Not one question about traffic patterns, signs runways etc. I was floored I made so high. Guess the next guy will get 60 questions totally different from their bank lol. One question really stumped me and i went back to it and stayed about 15 minutes. I see no answer for it at all. May have got it right. Its airpace question with E air space and each answer was very odd like 1187 , 1132 MSL. It was asking for the floor of E airspace at a small airport surrounded by magenta fuzzy line. Not segmented mind ya.

      Great job on the 95.
      Threw a curve with the MSL. I'd guess you'd have to see what the elevation of the airport is (in MSL), then add the floor of the Class E fuzzy magenta 700' (AGL) to that to get the height of the Class E (fuzzy magenta) in MSL above the airport.

      Thank you! Water vapor is a gaseous phase of water. When you boil water, you see steam, which is the same as water vapor.

    Why did we use MSL for question 3 and AGL for question 6? This confused me. Thx

      You can use AGL or MSL to answer any question. It does not matter which one, as long as you have the right answer.
      For question #3, the choice A (1,604 feet AGL) provides the wrong answer. You need to add 500 feet to whatever the height of the tower to arrive to the answer. For a choice to be correct in AGL, it has to be 1,554 feet AGL. This rules out choice A. But makes choice B the answer.
      For question #6, the same logic applies. If you had a choice referencing 1,835 feet MSL, it would be the correct one. But it is not there. At the same time, 792 feet AGL is the correct one, making choice A the answer.

    For question 3....if you checked a weather report, wouldn't that report show the cloud ceiling in MSL? If that's the case wouldn't the answer be 800MSL - 500MSL = 300MSL?

      I looked through question #3 and I do not see the 800MSL you are referencing. Are you referring to another question? If not, can you explain where you are getting 800MSL and why are you referring to a weather report?

      I believe you mean question 4. Metar and Taf reports are done in AGL, not MSL.

    Thank you for the video. For number 4, why is it not 300 MSL? You chose 300 AGL but in the previous question we were using MSL. 800 feet minus 500 feet is 300, but how did you know to use AGL

      Yes, you are welcome! Cloud covers are always given in AGL in weather reports. This is something to just remember.

    for question 6 why did you add 500 ft and not 400? As 400 ft is the permissible feet to legaly fly on above a tower.

      Hey there, the question is about flying under the cloud cover. You need to fly at least 500 feet below cloud cover. The top of the tower is located at 292 feet AGL. To inspect the top of tower, you will need to fly at least at 292 feet AGL. Since the question asks you about the minimum height of the cloud cover that will allow you to fly at 292 feet AGL, you need to add 500 feet to that number. This gives you 792 feet AGL. Yes, you are allowed to fly 400 feet above the tower top, but this is not what the question is asking.

    question 3 is confusing. I am under the impression that a PIC can legally fly 400 ft above a structure. The answer of 1,604 ft is 500 ft above the lighted structure.

      Right, you can fly 400ft above a structure *as long as the closest cloud is (at minimum) 500ft above you.*
      The question is asking what the minimum height of an overhead cloud can be in order for you to inspect the top of the structure. If the structure is 1,104ft high, the only way you can inspect that height is if the closest cloud is a minimum of 1,604ft AGL because clouds have to be at least 500ft above where your drone will be flying. Hope this helps.

    The last question is incorrectly answered. Turbulence and icing is associated with precipitation or rain-induced fog, not steam fog.

      Before I argue with you, please explain your reasoning and cite sources based on which you arrived that precipitation fog is the answer.

      In this video at about 26:48 there is a slide on Precipitation induced fog (Rain/Drizzle Fog). The last point states Associated with frontal activity: Other hazards may be present (icing, turbulence, thunderstorms). This fact is also made in the ASA Remote Pilot 2024 Test Prep Plus book on page 3-14. I think this is a small problem in your otherwise excellent video series for those of us studying for the Part 107 test. Incidentally, I will be taking mine tomorrow. Thanks for your quick response and altruism in reaching out to help those of us who are struggling with the finer details of the required knowledge to ace this test. It is very magnanimous of you. @@BlokhinFilms

      Thanks for pointing this out. Fog was a somewhat confusing topic when I was studying for my test. Maybe, because resources do not iron out details very well and provide crystal clear explanations. Having said that, it is true, my slide at 26:48 says that icing and turbulence are possible for precipitation fog. But, so does slide at 27:32 for steam fog. So, which one is true? Both are true? This almost exact question was in the ASA 2022 guide I used and the answer was C (steam fog) not rain-induced fog.
      Upon further inspection, I noticed that the original question in the ASA guide is phrased differently. It says "low-level turbulence and icing", while my question in the presentation says "some turbulence". Given how I phrased this question, you and I could be both right: A and C are possible answers. But, if my question has been phrased as "low-level turbulence", then answer C stands. The ASA study guide says that low-level turbulence and icing are possible in steam fog. Based on my reading, a low-level turbulence is a specific type of turbulence that often occurs when an inversion air layer is present, which is common in steam fogs (arctic sea smoke), but not precipitation fogs.
      I think this all gets too detailed and perhaps unnecessary for a person getting ready for the part 107 exam, as you said. And yet, you caught something ambiguous in my presentation and thanks for that.       Got an 88 on my test. Was disappointed since I felt that I had done much better than that. Many questions I had seen before but most seemed to be new, at least to me. Videos such as yours are more useful for understanding concepts that for passing a test. My sense is that you need both: knowledge of concepts plus practice tests. I believe that it is possible to pass with working through practice tests and UA-cam videos, but it limits you to how broadly you understand aviation concepts, and how much you retain. Having said that, we already agreed that most of the material is irrelevant to flying drones. There needs to be more emphasis on figuring out where you can fly, what the rules are, and how to fly safely. That said, I believe that it is a mark of responsibility to study and take the test. Drones can be a nuisance as well as a hazard to others. There are many videos on UA-cam demonstrating the stupid and irresponsible things that can be done with drones. It is mostly those folks who give drones the bad reputation that the don't deserve. All we need is for one to cause an accident that makes it on the national news for public opinion the turn against those who fly responsibly. With DJI already on the radar of lawmakers, and with TikTok facing banning in the USA, this would be a major blow. I probably sound a bit pretentious and arrogant, but that is my view. Please keep up your video series. It is a great resource for keeping up, and making sure that Part 107 certification becomes more than a piece of paper.
