This is the real reason Dread took so long to make.

@zebrin Until you get good in Dread and you can just counter their strikes with relative ease. Then you can start to bully them.

@@bestaround3323 The trouble with that is that there's no consistency. The timing to counter an EMMI is deliberately random. Not true randomness, I don't think, I think there's a small pool of possible timings for every grappling animation and one is randomly selected whenever you get caught. Still, it's tricky to get good at countering EMMIs when you can't count on a set window. Unless a pattern has been found, or a trick discovered?
If there was multiplayer versus in a Metroid game, this is what it would look like hands down
You havec2 options then. Prime 2 had a multi-player game mode and you COULD look up the multiroid stuff for AM2R (they even have a vs mode where one person is the SA-X hunting the other player)

Not really. Emmi AI isn't perfect, but its a lot less susceptible to crawlspace trolling. Also you can't use Ice Missles against them.
I hope when Mercury Steam gets their hands on Fusion they just turn the SA-X into a hyper intelligent killing machine dialed to an 11.

In that case I hope they can have a random chance of SA-X appearing anywhere at any moment.
I've had a pipe dream for a couple years that the Alien Isolation team would make a Fusion remake with the same engine.
As much as I'd like to see them giving us a new Fusion, another part of me wants to see what they can do for a sequel to Dread. A Samus Aran with actual control of her Metroid abilities, perhaps with an actual grapple attack instead of just a bitchslap, and all sorts of energy-absorbtion based powers and tricks to make the most of it. Hell, might as well dream big, like a full 2D open world.
Also, part of me knows that even Mercury Steam won't be able to get the Nightmare looking right with a 3D model, and what's the point of Fusion without its second most memorable boss?

@Ubil Wilbur I think they can still express emotions. Or, atleast so in the context that they're inhabiting the body of something that does- like Neo Ridley, they can. I can assume they take territorial pursuits when it comes to the existence of Samus, and in the case of the SA-X it only pursued Samus for a similar liking, though it was likely just predatorial habits.

Honestly for a pretty simple pursuer ai in a game from 20 years ago, SA-X was always a somewhat intimidating force. Now that we have Metroid Dread im kinda glad that it took 20 years to finally release. The evolution from SA-X to the multiple pursuers im Dread really makes a difference
