It is amazing how the Black Drum, which Tony caught here and the Red Drum do not have the same coloring. In fact, it looks like somewhere in the family tree the genetics of a Red Drum or Croaker crossed some genetic material with a Sheeps Head.
Eyyy! I was hoping to see you use the box trap so I could see how well it works for you. Thanks for that. I got a few box traps, but no crabs here yet to see how well they work. Keep up the drone footage. It’s really good to see.
Another suggestion is when you throw your bait out and you click your reel setting it ready to reel in this is the time to set the drag on it. Pull the line testing the drag, if it pulls too easy tighten your drag up by turning the tension knob to the right inward.
Just a little suggestion if your traps are floating away then look over there to the shoreline and you'll see plenty of weight (ROCKS) that you can add to your traps. Art
Thank for the content Tony.... crabbin been slow here (S of you - PSL), found chicken necks at Bravo sooo in the next couple days... what I do to remedy the current effects on my ring traps is to use a LARGE washers & zip ties.. securing the washer with zip ties and will also slide a large swivel on the zip tie and use it to secure the bait to.. oh yah the snake, black racer is my guess.. cheers bro
Hey I’m in psl too!😊 your not kidding, I crabbed for 8 hours this Saturday in Jensen beach and Stuart… caught 4 crabs😢 I’m grateful for those 4, but dang….
Happy Memorial Day, Tony! Very enjoyable video between all the great crabbing, pretty drone footage and the catching of the drum. Are drum fish good tasting? Thank you for sharing your holiday adventure with all of us. Have a great week!
Ok my question is because I’m living in Virginia now and the weather be around 75 so I was wondering if the water would be great but that temperature outside
@@CrabbingWithTony Thanks, but as my measured IQ is barely 3 points above plant-life, and after having suffered ( already ) on that site through the ambiguities relative to my ring trap question, I came here hoping for a more definitive answer...no luck.
@@busterhyman103 fishing of any type requires a license so the answer to your question is yes you need a license to crab. If you don’t have a commercial license the # of traps you can use will be limited to a certain #. That # is different for every state
Awesome video for how rough the current was. I saw this video from another crabbing guy about setting up a ring trap with weights for strong current areas. ua-cam.com/video/yPGoHgNBOEE/v-deo.html
Hey Tony, that snake is a Eastern Rat Snake. They are not dangerous and they are excellent climbers. Thanks for another great crabbing video!
Ok thanks!
Awesome video Tony, keep em coming my dude😊
Most definitely! Thanks!

Port St. Lucie right? Don't yall have the Intracoastal Waterways too? How is the crabbing bad with that good weather? Dang!
Idk.. I think I need better spots 😅

We call the female apron the capitol and the male apron the monument. Some of us Marylander do.
I get it, and that's funny!
A little tip.....
Don't reel against the drag. It causes line twist
Ok. I will try to remember this tip. Thanks!
Tony thanks for the videos. Good stuff. Where did you get those tongs I've been trying to find them online?
@@mikeb2777 Thanks. Everything I use is in my description box below the video.
@@CrabbingWithTony got it thanks
Hey man. I plan to go crabbing this weekend at cedar key. I haven’t crabbed in a while. What’s the best time of year to go? Thanks for the vid
I know nothing about Cedar Key. Warm water months is best.
Use a couple triangle or drop weights..zip tie them
Yeah next time I will be prepared.
I was just out there today around 12 and left at 4
That current can get rough.
What’s the water temperature when you go crabbing
I prefer 65 and up. Water is 80 here now. The hotter. The better. Plus a good spot is a must.

@crucialgaming215 just go see if it's jumping! Might have action! What part of Virginia?
Is a license required to use the ring traps? Does anyone know for certain? Thanks.

FYI that was a Sheepshead, not a drum.
Yeah I'm gonna figure something out for those kinda spots. That was a drum man.
