Liquid propane is at the most 200psi. 12g co2 cartridges are 1000psi. I would use a 4500psi tank or compressor for my pcp pellet guns and regulate it down to 1000psi to make it comparable to an actual 12g co2 cartridge.
This would make way more sense than faffing about with low pressure gasses. Alas air / nitrogen will not liquify at these pressures, so pressure will drop off quickly as shots are fire. More so than CO2 or other gases with similar temp/pressure/liquid stages (nitrous oxide has no advantage over CO2) but liquifies and has very similar pressure / temp curve to CO2 which is why CO2 cylinders are sometimes safely re-purposed for storing nitrous oxide. **IF** the 12g sized CO2 bulbs are strong enough, then filling from an argon cylinder (around 2400 psi) would give impressive performance for the first few shots but I think pressure would decrease rapidly - there would also be legal implications I am guessing with increasing gas pressure from a nominal 800-1000psi to 2400-3000 psi. Definately be more interesting that Propane/Butane/Mapp or other LOW pressure gas.
Would overfilling be _that_ detrimental to the integrity of the unit? Could you overfill slightly to get more power out of it? I'm looking at buying a couple of these for my Walther PPQ 43 Cal. that I use for home defense and am looking for a cheaper solution than having to buy a million disposable carts of black gas.
@@dinghuskahn5819 I don’t want to say it would be ok and you have the thing blow up... the refillable cartridge I have is pretty well made and I I’m sure it could handle more pressure, maybe 1400psi safely. But the gun is another story. I’m not familiar with that gun you have I know the Crosman 2240 pellet guns I build and customize can handle a little more pressure, but that is not how I get more power out of them. To up the power I would port the valve, put a heavy hammer spring, or even a heavier hammer or a larger transfer port (all or any combination of those things). I would try to search for other people that have modified the same gun that you have and gather some information. That being said if you are using this gun for self defense you definitely want to make sure it remains reliable!
I bought three refillable co2 12g cartridges. I filled them with co2. UA-cam says refill for 5-6 seconds. Almost every time..refilling the cartridges blew the two built i o-rings!!! I went thru 20 o-rings and a 20 oz tank of co2!! Barely got two to three shots/cartridge. I think my tank has too much pressure to fill these refillable cartridges. I added a pressure gauge to my tank. will try refilling at 1000 psi..right now refilled tank is at 3000 psi..I"ll write an update in a few days. :)
You need a paintball tank needle fill adapter and to fill it with c02 gas instead of propane.propane pressure is around 300 psi. C02 is around 850-900 psi. Or try to unscrew cylinder and fill with 12 grams of dry ice.
Some of these refillable carts do unscrew in the middle so I'm not sure if this comment was a joke, sarcasm, or serious in nature, but lets say one _did_ fill the cart with 12g of dry ice; what are the inherent dangers here? As the ice evaporates, wouldn't the gas bleed-off create far more pressure than that cartridge can withstand, or would that fall around the typical 12g C02 cart range?
I tested with green gas. I tried cooling it down before refilling. After 3g transferred, I cooled it again. And this time, extra 4g transferred. I have not tried 12oz CO2 tank yet. But I suppose I could get at least 7g in this way
That's a very low pressure tank you're using. There are proper methods for filling them, use a PCP pump for 900psi or so. The other method, fill it with the proper weight of dry ice (CO2) and screw it closed with valve pin open to allow gas to escape while screwing back together, then let it warm back up someplace safe.
You’ve gone about those cartridges the wrong way. They’re more useful if you use the larger ones 24gr/33gr/45gr as mini HPA tanks hidden inside an airsoft stock.
G For the price of the co2 cartridge and refill gas you can buy 200 original co2 cartridge s so it's not worth buying refill crap for 100 co2 proper 29.99 no refill 130 140 shots out of 12g
Hello there. Try to add an extra o ring around the piercing needle of the gun. The problem on these refillable cartridges is to get right the distance between the seal and the engagement point of the valve releasing gas into the needle. Also make sure that the neck of the cartridge is not hitting the nipple around the piercing needle of the gun.
Hi, the seller told me it would work with any gas type and the gun also uses any gas type. It should work.... It just doesn't. There are a few recomendations to try which I may do later. Thanks for the feedback
DiFuXioN I bet it could work with any gas as long as it’s the correct pressure. That propane tank is between 100 and 200 psi. 12g co2 cartridges are about 1000 psi. Of course it won’t work at that low pressure
Why would you fill it with an ultra low pressure gas like propane??? If they reckon it is strong enough, you might consider a "low fill" of Argon - which with a cylinder pressure of around THREE TIMES that of CO2 at normal temps, could result in a avery effective alternative BUT may exceed safety ratings of gun AND may also exceed legal limits of power. Propane will be a dead loss though - ditto Butane, MAPP and other gas which is EASILY liquified with LOW pressure! Argon, CO2, Nitrous Oxide, Nitrogen, Oxygen are all gasses which take considerable pressure to liquify - as such they yield WAY more energy when they expand back to a gas.
Output pressure of Airsoft green gas/propane is usually around 100~150psi; output pressure of a regular CO2 cartridge, in the other hand, can be as high as 600~1000psi !!!
I saw the comments about filling it with CO2... and yes, you can actually do that. No, it does not work better. I have the same setup as shown in this video and filled using a 20# CO2 tank (welding / carbonating for beverages). Some guns do not take that refillable cartridge well and other guns that do take it, get far less shots than a standard CO2 12g cartridge. To expound on 'far less', a gun that will shoot 100 good shots using pellets will get 12 good shots using this. It also wastes a bunch of gas just filling it and filling the lines. I don't think the Chinese did much R&D before releasing these into the public unfortunately. There were no injuries filling it, but I would wear safety glasses as I see you do in the video. I sure don't trust the safety of a device this poor.
another factor might be that Propane has a lot lower vapour pressure Co2 has around 57 bar and Propane has only 8,3 bar thats ~6,86x lower and when i calculate that (12 shots * 6,86x i get 82 shots , so this might be the reason)
Use 12 gram dry ice, that's why the cartridge is threaded into two halves, so it can be charged with dry ice. Place 12 grams of dry ice pellets in base of cartridge. Screw back together with exhaust valve pressed open. After cartridge is back together and tightened, allow exhaust valve to close. Set canister aside until it reaches room temperature. Then, you have a standard pressurized CO2 cartridge with liquid CO2 in the cartridge causing it to provide pressure even after the initial pressure is released as the CO2 turns from liquid to gas.
I believe you were wrong because the bulk recipient must stay below the gun cartridge. The pressure will push the liquid inside the big tank to the gun cartridge. And you need to put a lot of pressure, more time charging.
Joao Henrique da Silva Hi, thanks for the feedback. As I mention in another comment I have tried less and more gas still did not work. With more gas it still had the same effect... I will try the "freeze it" recomendation at some point.
If you buy some jewelers scales weigh a normal co2 cartridge that's unused. Now shoot all the co2 out now weigh the empty c02 cartridge, nowets say now empty weighs 10 gram less use co2 or what ever you have to fill the new one keep filling to you hit the 10 gram I've got 5 of these get the 8mm fitting use pcp hand pump compressor 10 bar fills mine a d I get same amount of shits as a c02 same power using a blow back system won't work with these canisters never buy blow backs half theair is used to recock the pistol.
Have you tried refilling it with a PCP air pump I think that would fill it up a lot quicker and a lot better than that little green gas thing that you're using you got to get at least eight hundred pounds of pressure in there you're using the wrong equipment for that
Have you ever diesel de airgun you drop a little bit of oil on thethe divot on the back of the pellet it sounds like a 22 rifle going off I would assume that if you use propane it would Diesel and blow the whole freaking thing apart I would not try propane in it at all I would get a PCP pump and pump for fifty bucks off eBay and use that to fill it I guarantee you that would fill it up to eight hundred pounds like it's supposed to be just saying
Not enough pressure to run the blow back I find if you use black gas aka high pressure green gas instead of propane it works and for none blow back guns it works too
Wait. So would this mean, that you would also be able to use this multiple times? I really am new to this, and I had started with someone-shot Diabolo refiles that I have, and later I also bought things like an Uzi or a Kali and such and some Pistols, and they all have those Co2 ones. But I sometimes do only want to shoot some Pallets or bb which works fine with that bendable refiles for one shot but I sometimes also just want to have like ten shots or so even with the semi Automatic or so and I hate it, that you always have to empty them and people say "do not take out the co2 if not empty because it will damage the gun" and such so using the MP or MG is really rare. You said there are two valves in this, so.... Does this mean that I can fill it, use it for ten shots, and it will not blow empty and freeze my gun's rubber things or so if I take it out because it has a ventile on its own?
Stephen Hargroves Hi, thanks for the feedback. I did try less and more propane bit got the same result.
