What questions do you have about photographing jewelry? Ask us in the comments!
Could you please advise budget lens and light for mobile phone for making a good quality pictures of gemstones?
hey
can you please explain what kind of lens I should get for gemstone photography
I guess I need to buy a piano now. Photography is expensive.
Lmfaooo but true. It do be extensive
Totally right! Treating ourself empowers oneself instead of giving our power to what others think and want from us.
grreat stuff i liked all the tips and i especially liked the reflective surface and laptop/tv screen behind fabulous idea!
I want to add; thank you, thank you and thank you for bringing this message up and into light so easily understandable
INCREDIBLY helpful!
Perfect hints... no question! But please give me one little answer: Why jewelry is NOT shot in front of BLACK VELVET background...??? (Almost 80% of jewelry has got WHITE background) I don't understand the reason or the effect.
I think this video is aimed mostly at wedding photographers. Having a photo of the rings with a black background would IMO usually not fit well with the rest of the bridal detail photos. As for a wedding album your photos would mostly be in light bright colors. Dark or black backgrounds would suit more a jewelry catalogue IMO. But ultimately it comes down to personal preference.
As most jewellery have diamonds. Diamonds react to light. Moreover black background will mostly look pale and it absorbs light rather throw it on the jewellery. So getting perfect colour of the jewellery is very hard on black background. Photography's 1st aim is to get the most realistic colour of the jewellery with a finesse and art. Hope i answer your question.
I love this video it’s the most useful out of all the ones I watched, I keep watching it over and over again!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for having these courses. Love the class.
MIND BLOWING SHOOT
The Power to come into Allignment is the power to create Worlds One person in the vortex is more powerful than millions of others who are not.
Loved it!
This was super well done. Bravo 👏🏼
The rings I'd hoped to shoot this summer were...Olympic.
Good refresher course and accessories to photography the ring.
Loved it! Great job and very well made!
Thank you very much!
Awesome 👍🏻
~Very~ good! The technique of opposites can work too - Harley-Davidson has regularly done this w/their beautiful bikes, photographing them in rough industrial settings and I could see something like this working with jewelry!
what material is the white sheet made of.??
Brilliant 🎥🎞️🖤🙏🏼 very much appreciated
That video was great! I learned a lot, thank you!

Very cool, thank you. Informative and simple!
Excellent video!
Great tips! Thank you!
Great tips! What diffusion paper did you use? Was it something special? It seems to have a good amount of stiffness to it. Thanks!
The diffusion used is called Translum and it's made by Savage. They make different weights, this is heavy weight in the video. It comes in a big roll but it can be cut into any shapes you like. I use it to make all kinds of diffusion flags. You can check it out here: bhpho.to/2O6zOmQ
Bravo👍 Uzbekistan

Thank you for the video. I wonder if it’s possible to get the same quality pictures with Nikon d3500 and the same lenses as your?
It is possible to obtain great image quality when using a DX format camera like the D3500. It all depends on your lighting, exposure and lens choice. The one thing to keep in mind is that DX sensor tend to offer less control over your depth of field versus a full frame sensor camera.
@@BandH thank you .
Thanks
What was used to diffuse?
My first guess would have been... a ring light...
Okay, sorry. I'll go home now.
the difussion is white paper?
it's not paper, it is polypropylene material.
Where can i find the reflective background used for the photos with pc?
You can find different Reflector Boards right on our website here: bhpho.to/494Yh2M
@@BandH thank you so much!
I need in white background and no blur behined.
what's the best camera to take a video of jewelry rings etc thank you

bhpho.to/3jwZqbM

bhpho.to/34w1lH6
Can we done this job with mobile camera ? ..8 MP, f/1.7, autofocus, 1/3.6" sensor size, 1.22 µm pixel size, 1440p at 30fps. OR
16 MP f/2.0 Primary Camera(3.1" sensor size)..... if it is not not recommendable. then please advise us. thanks
While it may be possible to use a smartphone, most built-in lenses on smartphone cameras are not ideal for macro photography usage. As such, you would typically need an adapter lens to connect to your smartphone for macro photography usage needs. As which option may work would depend on the brand/model smartphone you own, I would recommend contacting us via e-mail at *askbh {at} bhphoto {dot} com* with your inquiry and the brand/model of your smartphone, and we may assist you with optional accessories that may work for your usage needs.
What product are you using for a diffuser at 1:02? Thank you
The Rosco Cinegel #3000 Filter - Tough Rolux - 20x24" Sheet, BH # RO3000S would be the diffusion used at the 1:02 mark.
bhpho.to/2SKjYDS
How does the autofocus of a G 105 macro lens work through an adapter with Z cameras?
Please e-mail us: askbh@bandh.com >Mark
It's an electronic adapter so the auto on the Nikon 105 G works no problem. All these photos are manual focus though.
how do you hide the blemishes of the gem?
Gentle editing should take care of the blemishes. >Mark
I loved the video , but have a question that On 1:22 the camera is on f/20 then why the ring isn't fully focused ??
Because the depth of field is dependent on focal length, aperture and the distance between the camera Sensor and the object.
Focal length here is 105mm at f22. For example ig you are 30 centimeters away from the ring your depth of field is just 7mm !!!
What is that led light array?
The LED array shown in the video would be some basic LED string lights for home use, which are being used to create an interesting effect in this case.
Earrings fashion shooting Please
I want to know what is that item is like a gum to catch the ring can u writte me in min 2:20 please replay
That product would be Bard's Tacky Wax 1 oz (28.3g)
, B&H # BATW1O, which is used to hold jewelry or other products in place when photographing them.
bhpho.to/2ZxqrTN
Whats that gum fun tank and dental ??? Can’t understand that word
Almost all pictures was retouched. A speacially diamonds and they didnt tell about retouching part.
Not honest video...
I thought it was very nicely explained and honest. It’s too bad that you had nothing more positive to add to the whole experience 🤷♀️maybe next time? Or maybe you could just go make your own video and show the world your marvelous talent? I’m sure everyone would love to see what you can do.👍☺️just sayin
Interesting video. But that's not how you photograph jewellery.
I’m so excited about the awesome things I have in my life! I am such an awesome creator that I win everything I want, and I am so joyously happy to be in alignment with source! â¤ï¸ Thank you for your teachings.
where to get that black surface thing?
We offer the Glide Gear ACY100 Reflective Acrylic Photography Boards (White / Black, 14 x 14"), BH # GLACY100 which is similar to what is used in this video.
