This is THE ONLY video on youtube that FULLY and thoroughly explains from beginning to end and even using cheap jewelery to extend working it to show how to edit imperfections. THE BEST!!!!!
I can't explain just how helpful this video has been. I've been struggling with improving the quality of our jewelry photographs and this video has done wonders for the photos we now take!
That paper cylinder is a game changer, I been cutting out bounce boards and hanging them all over the place, never again! This video was super helpful, just what I needed, thank you!
This is an excellent tutorial on so many levels. Very helpful. Easy to follow, informative, great voice and explanations. Lots of good information! Thank you so much!
Thank you for showing your process. A lot of it was things I've already done, but you took it a step further to make it that much more richer! Thank you
I landed a job shooting silver jewlery and I was so nervous!! I've spent the whole day looking at tutorials and manuals but after our video I feel a lot better about it :) thank you so so much!!!
I sell on a variety of e-commerce platforms. I didn't realize how different jewelry photography is from regular products! The paper tube hack is amazing ( although I'm using a phone, so I'm still struggling with closeups). Definitely time to invest in a good camera and lenses! Thank you.
This just blew my mind. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Unfortunately, some clients may not understand the kind of work that goes into this type of photography.
Awesome information! Thank you for sharing. I've been shooting and editing jewelry for a few years now in a very similar way, but I learned some really cool new things from your video, especially the lighten mode with the low opacity brush. I've been using the low opacity brush, but the lighten makes it faster because it doesn't go over the edges. Awesome!!! Also, for clients who don't realize how much actually goes into a photo like this, I can now send this video to them to show them that is, in fact, a very detailed and time-consuming endeavor.
Wooowwww... absolutely nailed it! I am very new to all of this, and am waiting on my samples to arrive, but I think I will be able to follow this step-by-step easily! Definitely following. Thank you so much! 🙏
Just Brilliant , i wish i could request content creator to do more, i have worked into photo editing company and the method he showed totally great, thank you so much
I started off looking for something very basic but looking at this video I am truly inspired. I do like to be honest with my jewellery photographs too however I have leant maybe tips which I never knew in photoshop. Thank you
Ive been photographing jewellery for 27 years and created a workflow by trial and error since photoshop edition 2. It was very clumsy, my camera was a Fuji S1 with very low, even hopeless resolution but with a LOT of work I managed to pull out saleable images. I’m now retired, (not by choice), but I was shooting directly into LR making basic changes and then using my limited skills in PS5 to complete each product. The work was/is tedious, boring and very complex, I was happy to finish 15 products a day before going partially insane spending so much time 15 cm from the IMac screen. I hated the work but did it when no other work was available. I enjoyed following your workflow and learned a few more techniques that would have saved me many hours of time. Ironically I am called upon to create “heritage images” for elderly clients which requires the same technique I used on jewellery. so I may give your method a try. But its always difficult to negotiate a fair price for the effort despite the education I give my clients.
Such a perfect video, there is no awful music, your voice is not loud, you're not mumbling, the content is precise and thorough, the quality of recording is good. The only thing that gets me is... Those damn sideways set diamonds... How did you do that? they gotta be level and set on all 4 prongs!
I just started a small online jewelry business, and I've been trying to take photos myself.. I'm so shocked by how much work and detail go into one photo... But this is really amazing. Maybe I should consider hiring a professional.. 😅
Have you tried building this from tracing paper and some kind of plaque transparent? That way you'd be able to shoot directly throw the cone. This is also a great way! Both this and Karl Taylors light cone are great ways and I can't wait to test them out. Great straight to the point video : )
Now this is the kind of tutorial you want. All the important steps explained straight to the point. All 26 minutes are valuable. Excellent work!
The most interesting, in depth tutorial I’ve seen on this subject.
This is THE ONLY video on youtube that FULLY and thoroughly explains from beginning to end and even using cheap jewelery to extend working it to show how to edit imperfections. THE BEST!!!!!
