excellent advice to improve the photographs of my products, it has worked very well for me, and you are very right, the image is very important, thanks friend
Hello there! I was watching videos today in youtube for almost a couple of hours on jewelry photography and most of them were talking about so many tech. things and lights, which was good. But yours is the only video that gave ideas on creative styling and easy usage of placements and I can see that you are good at it. Keep doing videos on styling... Cheers!
Hi! I'm super happy you've enjoyed my video ❤️ I totally agree, since I'm not a professional photographer, I won't be able to say anything about technical aspects, but I'm happy to share some creative ideas and styling set ups 😀 I have another video coming in the near future, so check back soon!
Hello! Thanks for your tutorial! What do you mean by side lighting, back lighting and front lighting? Does this means the camera lens faced side of jewelry, faced back of jewelry and front of jewelry?
Thank you ! Your video made me smile, everything was beautiful and calming. I was hopeless bc I had no idea how to photograph my jewellery, now I'm inspired
Thanks for such a brilliant video, packed full of so many great tips. It's so good to learn how other jewellers create photos of their work and thank you for sharing how you do this! :)
You have to try it! :) Same with flowers, petals, leaves, anything actually :) Get creative, use bigger chunks of salt or whole pepper. Anything can add texture :) Thanks so much for wathcing! :)
Thank you so Much Karolien! 😊 I've experimented with photo tent but I just couldn't figure it out! I've got lamps too but it all seems like so much hassle and the effect was never what I wanted. I much prefer to just place my items by the window and shoot there :P For me, learning manual mode of my camera was a game changer too, and realising that I can brighten photos in post production. I used to seriously overexpose them because I wanted them to be bright and vivid haha :P
i am a jeweller... i do my own shoots.... but i m a very bad photographer... i was looking for videos like tutorials where i can get the ideas ....but i just loved ur ideas dear....they are simply awesome and i love them.... u have really given me some ideas and i am going to surely use them in my upcoming videos.....thanks a lot dear....god bless u.

Always so helpful and insightful. I know I don't know you but I appreciate you so much! Because of your videos, I finally got over my fear of soldering and went ahead got materials you suggested. I made my first pendant. 😊💜😊💜
wow, thank you so much! As always, sweet and so supportive, thank you ❤️ That's fantastic you finally tried it! Well done making your first pendant! If you have Instagram, make sure to tag me if you share it so I can see :)) And keep making!
A little bit of super thin material like silk in front of the table i.e. 2x2 piece will help soften the highlights and take the windows out of the reflecting highlite. Loved your ideas about the natural lighting setup I'm totally going to use this technique! Love your channel!! ☺️
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing I've been loving your videos and sharing in your journey. I particularly liked the video for creatives and how sometimes it can be easy to self sabotage just over wether or not one feels truly vindicated by occupational titles. I feel you had a lot of good insights and truth to add on that subject. So many thanks for your kind words! 🤓
I meant to say in front of the window between the side of the table. Not the front, side facing the camera. Obviously shooting through silk is not going to give you a nice image. My bad. Hahahaha 🤓👍
Thank you so much! ❤️ Really happy you've enjoyed it. It's a simple video, I'm definitely not a professional photographer, but hoped some tricks might be useful 😊❤
This makes it look so easy, yet I can’t seem to get consistently good photos. I’m only pic’ing inexpensive wood and polymer clay jewelry, so it’s not just a few pieces of expensive pieces, it’s a LOT of things same colors but different shapes. So I’m usually irritable and fed up before I even get started. It shouldn’t be so hard. I’ve used iPhone AND a borrowed Canon - the iPhone looks best with portrait mode, but the Canon NEVER focuses on my earrings, ALWAYS on the background. I cannot figure out how to change it. So frustrating. I have always hated cameras and having my own picture taken, and now having to do all this product photography on my own is really upsetting me. I’ve bought lights, light boxes. No matter what I do they come out dull or blurry UNLESS I stand outside in the sweltering heat in bright midday sun, and find that ONE setup that works and just slog through them all. I hate it. So frustrating. Your tutorial makes it look easy, but honestly I don’t want to have to do it at all. Hahaha
Have you use single focus point? And If you try to manually focus it, and the result is not on the point where you want it to be focus, then I believe theres something wrong with the focusing system.
I own left over video cameras and audio...so I use the Nikon which does it all. I do own Sony tape camera 🎥 and 2 other antiquated cameras so I use all the lighting and mics I already have...ur photographs are beautiful...u r so talented.
Hi! I was wondering if you have any videos on what tools you use to take videos of your work? Lighting, stands, cameras, etc? Your work is amazing and your videos are wonderful and something i'd love to learn more about!
Not at the moment, but it's a video I was thinking of making, and knowing that there are people interested in this I might just go ahead and film it 🥰 Thank you for the suggestion! My gear has changed slightly since this video, was made, I invested in a Sony camera, but I still have my Canon and use it. Will be happy to share my gear and how I film! I think it might be useful for short format videos too
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing Sorry i never responded!! If you could share more that would be sooo amazing. I think a lot of us struggle with that and could really really benefit to learn more about that side of the business! Do you use any special lends on the Sony? Honestly any and all info would be so wonderful
That's a great suggestion Jasmine, I want to make that video, though I felt a bit anxious about it, because I'm not a photographer 😁 Was worried people will jump on me hahaha 😆 But on the other hand these would be my own tricks, so why not!
Hi Basia, many thanks for all the practical tips on jewellery photography! I've been looking for ways to photograph and film handmade jewellery because I want to improve the quality of my UA-cam tutorials. You've demonstrated that anyone can achieve a professional and artistic look simply by using natural light, a few simple props and pretty background paper. Thanks once again and keep those photography tips coming! Iza Beads

Thank you. This was quite nice. Just the curved object to shape the chain tip made it valuable to watch.
Thanks Patrick! :) Yeah, it's so simple and obvious yet it's taken me some time to come up with! Now I'm always using a glass to shape my chains :))
