    This was exactly what I wanted when I searched this, thank you.

      Glad you liked it. It was not what I was expecting. Makes me think that maybe all those baby dolls that say "mama" have little records in them too.

      @@AutistiVision They kind of do. This is what I expected, though I have been wanting to pursue the idea of making a puzzle box using this exact technology where the puzzle speaks like a board game where the pieces played on the board determines either the next clue or helps unlock the final solution.... But nah, noone has been interested in this idea, mostly because noone is interested in making such a puzzle or pursuing how they made these records.

    Hi Micheal! I had one of these and i’ve always wondered what was in these since I was a kid. These are so unique and just the way they work is amazing. Thank you for the video.

    I LOVE the way they made things; instead of modern technology. (electronics) They're not only more fascinating - but more durable. This will be working LONG after the electronic modern ones have given up... These were given a 'lifetime' guarantee - and no wonder when you see inside how they were built! Ingenious!

    Search for the video titled "Early 1980s Datsun/Nissan Voice Alert phonograph unit", it's exactly the same thing. Multiple lead ins for each track.

    8-Bit Guy also covered a little bit of this.

    That thing is still running to this day. Its really a thing to marvel at. Dare I say the first portable record play?

    The one I remember from when I was a kid had a pull string.

    It's like a threaded rod with multiple starting positions. The stylus for the record sweeps really quickly because there are multiple audio tracks with different starting points all wound through eachother. When the spinner stops at a locations, that's also the starting point for another track.
    Ahh...just got to the part in the video where you found it. :) If you really want to make it sound funny, take off the belt to the governor!

    This is the 1989-1997 design used for See n' Says. They changed over from the pull string design used before due to a lawsuit filed in the late 80s

    Hi micheal, I have a 16 year old autistic daughter who is obsessed with this particular toy. Do you think you can help me find someone to repair the arm? I'm desperate..

    • @AutistiVision
      @AutistiVision  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure. It would be a difficult repair because of the way it had to come apart. (Won't screw back together.) Might want to just buy one of the modern versions?

    Yup, you can run parallel grooves on a vinyl record too. I had a Monty Python record when I was young. Listened to it a few times and then, one day, I heard a totally different record on one side. Thought I was having a breakdown. Just depends on where the needle drops. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monty_Python_Matching_Tie_and_Handkerchief
