Diablo Fact 108: The Barbarian in Diablo III was originally intended to be the Barbarian from Diablo II, just twenty years older. The idea was scrapped because, to put it shortly, they didn't want the other characters in the game to feel left out or less important to the story than the Barbarian. Diablo Fact 109: The Rogue from Diablo I, and the Sorcerer also from Diablo I both became villains in Diablo II. The Rogue became Blood Raven from Act I, and the Sorcerer became the False Summoner from the Arcane Sanctuary in Act II.
I was wondering why the Barbarian is a white haired old warrior much older than every other character... guess they stuck with the image even if changing the story. Makes sense now
I personally think if Blizzard releases a new Diablo "2" expansion today I would buy it in a heart beat, it was simply an awesome game. Personally I love 2 much more than 3.
Diablo 2 is still THE best hack-n-slash RPG of all time, for me. But i don't think D2 needs a new expansion at all. It IS perfect. If you need so-called "expansion", just look for the mods. There are tons of very good ones.
17:03 So wait, the original games had the balls to feature pretty graphic (albeit 8bit) images of naked women's mutilated corpses on torture boards but they still had to censor the concept of drug abuse?

Ah, no. Diablo originally comes from the GREEK (not Latin) word, Diavolos or Diabolos, which means "Slanderer". Even if I didn't know Greek, Wikipedia is a thing.

Seriously for Diablo III, they really did fix most of the flaws with the expansion Reapers of Souls. I swear 80% of my complaint list were addressed. Bravo Blizzard.
4:09 #16 On that note, I've got to deliver a small anecdote here. When I got Diablo back in the day, my mom loved it. She never played the first one, but she watched my cousin and I play it. When Diablo 2 was released however, my mom had her own computer at that time, and had just started learning how to use it for.. well, anything really. However, she picked up Diablo 2 really fast, and ended up beating the game on Nightmare with TWO DIFFERENT CHARACTERS before I had beaten it once. Then, a couple years ago, she got a PS3 for the express purpose of playing Diablo 3, which she also beat. My mother is 52 this year.
I was unaware the original diablo is still playable. That's good to hear. I think it would be amazing to still be able to play D2 and D3 as a 50 year old man. Those games are amazing.
When I saw this video, I remembered my aunt gave me her copy of Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction. Unfortunately, the Lord of Destruction disc has vanished.. But I managed to install the base off the discs! I forgot how it felt to install games off discs, but I'm glad I got to know that feeling again.

Diablo 2 Facts 76.1-76.5: After Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction was patched to v1.10, Blizzard created several major changes to the game which include, but aren't limited to: Fact 76.1. The creation of Ladder Reset "seasons", with the second ladder season (started on July of 2004) of which was the most significant in Diablo 2 history. Fact 76.2. Exclusive new Rune Words were made available on Ladder Only at the beginning of the Second Ladder Season in order to balance online gameplay, making it more friendly to newcomers and veterans alike. Fact 76.3 With WoW just around the corner for launch date in early 2004, Blizzard wanted to create a lot of hype and competitive spirit with their existing very large customer base in Diablo 2. They did so during Ladder Season 2 and held a one-time World of Warcraft launch Diablo 2 crossover competition event (which had prizes) called "When Worlds Collide." This competition was a ladder race to level 99 which began in July of 2004, and the race ended when the very first characters on each separate realm reached level 99 (USWest, USEast, Asia1-3, and Europe), regardless of whether the characters were played in hardcore mode or non-expansion (although achieving level 99 on classic/non-expansion D2 was next to impossible to do in a short amount of time, and you only get one life in hardcore mode as you well know.) Fact 76.4. D2 Ladder Season 3 began a few months after patch 1.11 and it marked the first date that existing non-ladder characters could now obtain ladder-only runeword items either through their ladder characters (now non-ladder) Fact 76.5.1 US WEST competition ended On August 27th, 2004 at about 12:30PM. My own sorceress named Tifas-Revenge was the very first character to reach level 99 not only on the USWest Realm, but first over all realms, with the Europe realm getting their first level 99 only a day later, but no other realms had gotten to level 99 yet until a few weeks following the announcements on Arreat Summit (D2 Official website). Fact 76.5.2 Since One of the prizes awarded was a collector's edition of WoW signed by the developers and Blizzard had not anticipated such an early finish, our actual prizes shipped out were delayed until WoW went gold. To this day, I still have it sealed in my garage and I wonder if it's worth something? There's only 5 in the world like a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket, so it's definitely valuable to me, and I'm not planning on giving it away anytime soon so don't ask me to sell it unless you have a good compelling reason or would pay any price at all for it. Fact 76.6. Diablo Clone was a D2:LoD super-boss that was added to curb the amount of excessive duplicated stones of jordan accumulated over time to balance non-ladder gameplay more so, as when an SoJ was sold to any merchant in town, a counter would increase on that particular server's IP address and the message "XXXX Stones of Jordan sold to Merchants" would appear. Diablo Clone would then spawn if enough SoJs were sold to trigger him in all hell difficulty games on that particular Diablo 2 server IP. If you've read this far, I imagine you're definitely interested in hearing more. If you guys would like to know more about my story and Tifas-Revenge, please feel free to ask me any questions you want. I also have a FAQ posted called "High Level Guide" on GameFAQS if you want to know what Tifas-Revenge was like to me.
It's a fact taking into account the saga. If D3 didnt have Diablo in it's name, maybe you could say it's an opinion, as Diablo's saga is mainly for arpg hardcore fanatics, and D3 is a joke as a grindy arpg
a tip for every diablo 1 player here. if you want all the cinematics and hidden quests like a sanctum or the map of the starts quest there is a mod called. Beelzebub or Belzebub one of the two. i play it myself it is awesome and features new classes.
Actually...they do elude to the Heroes living in Tristram in the past. Odgen, the Inn Keeper, makes mention that "Much has changed since you last lived here, my friend." hinting that the hero was originally from Tristram. As for the cinematics, the ending Cinematic is slightly different for a Rogue. The face of the hero, after shoving the stone in their head, looks different than the other Male hero ones, and it has a different scream. It IS in the game...but it's not on the PC version. The PLAYSTATION VERSION plays the Rogue and Wizard endings!
Diablo3 sucked. I said it. Give me an HD version of D2 LOD any day. With no Matt Uelmen the soundtrack was terrible. They made a mess of the lore. And the awesome gritty, gothic aesthetic was gone. I tried to like D3 I really did, instead I find myself STILL playing LOD and enjoying it more.
You know, you missed a fact when talking about the secret level of Diablo 3. That secret level with sunshine rainbows and Unicorns was a direct stab at their former lead that was removed from his position after the complaints of how bright and colorful the game was looking. So they made the secret level kind of making fun of that.
UntoAGod Actually, there is a use in declaring it. If they get enough people making the same comment, they might change it. That's kind of the whole point behind the idea of customer feedback. If a customer stops consuming a product and never says why, then the manufacturer has to start guessing as to why they stopped. If the customer shares why, then the manufacturer can alter their product (or not) to better reach a wider audience.
The same way it's pronounced by NPC's in the game, with more of a soft ruhm or rahm than a ram. Phonetically it would be more like tristrəm than tristrǽm. It's a location, not a name for an ancient type of battle ram. The same logic applies to places that end with the word shire for instance, none of those places end with the same sound of the word shire. All of them end with a shuhr sound, sounding more like sure than shire.
For the love of god! I love your videos but, you guys need to seriously find people to narrate who actually know how to pronounce the things they are narrating. Nothing will loose you credit with fans quicker than saying something like "Kulla-aide". I mean, come on. They literally say the guy's name dozens of times in the game itself.
My favorite Reference item in it is "Monster Hunter" it's a direct reference to the Monster Hunter game series down to the appearance of it being the sword (either dual swords or sword'n'shield) made from a Rathalos.
Well, in english it can be "bail". But i like "Bah-all" more (latin-esque pronounciation). Now "Ball"... Man, now i will see Baal as an friggin' demonic football ball. Or it would be... *putonshades*... Footbaal?
This is why Diablo 1 is so good, every turn was calculated, every piece of art is designed very well, replay ability - I never seen the game which I wish to replay so many times... Maybe only Heroes 2 and 3, but it is the other story
idk about you guys but i remember going to act one and talking to the cow king ghost for the cow level idk if thats still around but it did have a cow level
If you transmute the item Bovine Bardiche in Kanai's cube it will open a portal to the cow level. Just like you can transmute a Puzzle Ring and open a portal to The Vault.
Like how they said it was intended to be turn based, which would be familiar to players of RPGs... then they show a screenshot of Orcs and Humans? These guys are idiots
The fact that the game is still played by people and gets updates speaks volumes about its quality and how good it is - basically its the best advertisement the game can have.
when you were talking about the cutscenes in diablo 2 i thought you might mention the voice actor of the old man. it was frank gorshin who also played the riddler in batman 66.
Fact #28: "This would explain, way he (the warrior) is the only one featured in cut scenes" That's actually not entirely true. The ending did feature all three of the characters, depending on who of them was used to kill diablo.

for diablo 2 all the servers are still up :p

what's interesting is that in diablo 1 Wirt actually calls Tristram "Triss-Tram" during a random gossip bit. So he's not wrong calling it triss-tram
Reaper of the Souls.
Diablo was my gateway to hardcore gaming, thank you Blizzard for the amazing memories.

Ah, no. Diablo originally comes from the GREEK (not Latin) word, Diavolos or Diabolos, which means "Slanderer".
Even if I didn't know Greek, Wikipedia is a thing.
With Diavolos we mean Devil in Greece
But it is in Spanish now.😈😈😈😈😈
True, but it came to be Spanish by way of Latin... Did he not say just that? :)

108 - Path of Exile killed off most of D3 players.
real money auction house got shut down because they were forced to by law since it was illegal and not because they thought it unvalued the gameplay
D3 sucked, d2 still the greatest. D1 is iconic
Johny Kakes nah
D3 isn’t even near the greatest of d2
D1 is the greatest, thank you
100% fact.
It's a fact taking into account the saga. If D3 didnt have Diablo in it's name, maybe you could say it's an opinion, as Diablo's saga is mainly for arpg hardcore fanatics, and D3 is a joke as a grindy arpg
My favorite part about playing Diablo 2 is the guitar music! I love it brings back good time memories :)
Fact 108 = Diablo franchise died overnight with the release of a Mobile game.
But now, Diablo 2 Remaster abd Diablo 4.
a tip for every diablo 1 player here. if you want all the cinematics and hidden quests like a sanctum or the map of the starts quest there is a mod called. Beelzebub or Belzebub one of the two. i play it myself it is awesome and features new classes.
did anyone cringe when he said tristram
15:41
Please, what's the name of that song? I like The Leaderboard's taste in music 👍
1:57 That ain't Warcraft boy
So they made the secret level kind of making fun of that.
im getting so tired of this type of voicing/presentation style
***** haha exactly
what do you mean? these 19-21 year olds who talk about things before their time as if its a great discovery?
MS DOS DOOD
Well, if you don't like that kind of style, don't watch it. There's no use declaring it.
UntoAGod Actually, there is a use in declaring it. If they get enough people making the same comment, they might change it. That's kind of the whole point behind the idea of customer feedback. If a customer stops consuming a product and never says why, then the manufacturer has to start guessing as to why they stopped. If the customer shares why, then the manufacturer can alter their product (or not) to better reach a wider audience.
please
make a 107 facts on the entire dragon age series
The way you pronounce tristram makes me cringe so hard
LOL I really enjoyed his attempt at longevity at 6:50 ... Lawnjetevetie?
Aodhan Drain lol wtf I didn't catch that until I reached that part
How is it supposed to be pronounced then?
The same way it's pronounced by NPC's in the game, with more of a soft ruhm or rahm than a ram. Phonetically it would be more like tristrəm than tristrǽm.
It's a location, not a name for an ancient type of battle ram. The same logic applies to places that end with the word shire for instance, none of those places end with the same sound of the word shire. All of them end with a shuhr sound, sounding more like sure than shire.
trisTRUM
You forgot to mention that Diablo was originally planned to be a claymation based animation.
Original Diablo player on PC since 1996.
For the love of god! I love your videos but, you guys need to seriously find people to narrate who actually know how to pronounce the things they are narrating. Nothing will loose you credit with fans quicker than saying something like "Kulla-aide". I mean, come on. They literally say the guy's name dozens of times in the game itself.
hah! did you see their dark souls video, where they mention drinking "eetus"
deadmaufive
pentagonofpeople That thing about "deadmaufive" made me seriously wonder if they were just trolling.
reaper of the souls
tarrker americans like to screw pronnounciations
11:55 - Ummm, these alternate endings do show up when you beat the game as a Rogue or a Sorceror.
Tris-TRAM... Smh...
My favorite Reference item in it is "Monster Hunter" it's a direct reference to the Monster Hunter game series down to the appearance of it being the sword (either dual swords or sword'n'shield) made from a Rathalos.
10:20 So youve not seen 'Leon' then, geez you GenYs are lame :D
"Stone of Jordan Sold to merchant 10004"
"Stone of Jordan Sold to merchant 10005"
"Stone of Jordan Sold to merchant 10006"
Diablo Walks the Earth....
why is Jesus in the thumbnail???
He removed
Heh, for a moment I thought you thought Jesus was the big red horned one.
+Magus Marquillin nah it was the thumbnail before this one.
+Magus Marquillin he isn't? I thought the devil is a gay bearded dude in a dress
saucy beagle It depends on who you ask, but usually not.
it's funny how you mentioned the "would my mom be able to play it" line, because my own mother used to play these back when we first got it.
Baal isn't pronounced "Ball"
ikr... it's like.. "Bail"
not [bail] it 's more like ['ba:l]
Triss-tram. Mafeastoh
Well, in english it can be "bail". But i like "Bah-all" more (latin-esque pronounciation). Now "Ball"... Man, now i will see Baal as an friggin' demonic football ball. Or it would be... *putonshades*... Footbaal?
the story about the guy returning to his hometown did indeed happen as the warrior is a guy called Aiden, King Leoric's son.
my longest kill streak/ massacre in diablo 3 is over one thousand
mine is over 9000
that's a hell of a spree
How tho, my highest was 307 ._.
you published this on my birthday! hooray!
I was playing the fist Diablo when I was 15
You want a cookie?
It was for 13+ anyway lol
It's literally been that game for me since it was originally released.
I was like 8 or something
i was like 12.. Diablo II .... best game ever.
Very nicely done and well researched! Good job dude
im cringing at this guys pronunciation... i mean you wouldn't have this problem if you spent 10 minutes watching the cut scenes
This is why Diablo 1 is so good, every turn was calculated, every piece of art is designed very well, replay ability - I never seen the game which I wish to replay so many times... Maybe only Heroes 2 and 3, but it is the other story
Diablo 3 is lame... I still play D2
Same. Never played D3, though.
It's a good game. Better than 2 or not is a matter of opinion but it's still fun.
Matter of fact, not opinion. D3 doesn't even compare to LoD. I was unbelievably disappointed after playing D3.
Steve Perry See, that's the definition of opinion.
The last part when I said I was disappointed, sure. Not arguing with that, however ask anyone who has played both and they'll tell you D2>D3.
Adam Katz? What are you doing here
diablo 3 has a cow level now
3/502 WIDOWMAKER it was a special event they did early 2016 i believe
Donoven Bruntmyer Yep, it's the axe that can be put in Kanis Cube
idk about you guys but i remember going to act one and talking to the cow king ghost for the cow level idk if thats still around but it did have a cow level
Triggered? That was not the cow level, it's a place called whimsyshire where you kill unicorns care bears and flowers lol with rainbows everywhere
If you transmute the item Bovine Bardiche in Kanai's cube it will open a portal to the cow level. Just like you can transmute a Puzzle Ring and open a portal to The Vault.
The Butcher cut sceen is still in the ps1 console port of the game. I remember seeing it back in the day.
most important fact: d2 > d3
So I heard...
D2 >>>>> D3
i think this is a fact
Natalie Portman WAS awesome by 1996.
After all: Leon the Professional came out in 1994, and boy...
It was quite a debut. :)
wtf they thought WoW was made b4 Diablo? rlly need to get ur facts straight
Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was made before it not World of Warcraft. It was stated pretty clear here.
+technokokos really? where did it say that. could've sworn they said WoW. or maybe they put a WoW picture instead of a WC orcs and humans pic.
rafael rivera yea i just looked again they said Warcraft and showed picture of WoW.
I knew it. Channels like this never fully get yhe facts straight.
Like how they said it was intended to be turn based, which would be familiar to players of RPGs... then they show a screenshot of Orcs and Humans? These guys are idiots
The fact that the game is still played by people and gets updates speaks volumes about its quality and how good it is - basically its the best advertisement the game can have.
the game is currently in patch 1.14D not A as you stated O.o
+chimaera117 and you really think they updated d2 in the last month? lol O.o
Patch 1.14d was released on the 7th of June, 2016.
when you were talking about the cutscenes in diablo 2 i thought you might mention the voice actor of the old man. it was frank gorshin who also played the riddler in batman 66.
its not pronounced Trist-rAhm
Oh my god its not BALL its BAAL
14:00 15 x 2 = 45?? seriously??
You can stop now.
1. He pronounces it correctly
2. See #1
3. He said *more* than doubled. Why he didnt just say tripled is beyond me tho
(Pronunciations) 1. trist-rum* 2, Bail*
Fact #28: "This would explain, way he (the warrior) is the only one featured in cut scenes"
That's actually not entirely true. The ending did feature all three of the characters, depending on who of them was used to kill diablo.
