I spent 21 months in Korea, 1989-1991. I was a Soldier in the 2nd Infantry Division, stationed at Camp Casey, Tongduchon, South Korea. Back then the older Koreans respected us and loved us because they were there when the Koren War took place. The younger, college aged folks were 50/50 in their views of we Americans. One thing that is a fact is that we, as soldiers, we're taught that when we were in foreign countries like The Republic of Korea, we were ambassadors, emissaries of our country. And that the Korean people's perception of the United States as a whole was dependant on how we conducted ourselves when interacting with the native folks of Korea. With that said, I can say that some of my fondest memories of my 10 years of military service are those 20 plus months that I spent in the Republic of Korea. No wonder people of the world have skewed views on the United States with people such as this clown doing what he does.
I just find it kind of ironic that almost exactly after I left South Korea (stationed at Camp Casey, Tongduchon), you arrived. At that time, I couldn't have imagined a horrible American like Somali doing such horrible things to our allies.
No we still love our American friends :D you guys are the reason why we still exist today. Thx for your support during korean war and after. We koreans will never ever forget your service 🎉
I only hate US govt (due to their nuclear that killed many civilians and how they indirectly assisted "the allies" retaking my country despite already indenpendent) and annoying "muricans" (that dumb beyond any help)
I have lived in quite a few countries and in every one American soldiers got into trouble with the locals. American exceptionalism is really toxic and is also part of the reason why many people don't want American bases in their. Ountries
My SINCERE HOPE is that they see EXACTLY what they get when 'diversity' is introduced into their lovely society. It's not needed and most certainly NOT a strength.
I have been disgusted by Johnny Somali since the days of “Hiroshima Nagasaki” on the Japanese train. That Korean-Texan gentleman who checked him on the train is having the last laugh
i find it interesting as well because koreans have strong reasons not to like japan, but on citizens' levels, they always maintain respect. a korean holding space for japanese pain despite his parents and grandparents probably having been victims of japan is really, "ubuntu" of him.

I was stationed in Japan, and I've been to Korea a dozen times. Can confirm. Koreans don't fuck around. My instinct is this is a messaging thing. They want to disincentivize this kind of stuff.
Triple word score disincentivize - but I agree with you, and I think they should. No one needs or wants these types of jerks running around harassing people, and the only way to make that point is to have the actions have consequences
I think the fact that, due to Korea’s history as a small nation, Koreans tend to have more national pride and being nationalistic is another contributing factor. While young Japanese tend to be more chill, Koreans HATE feeling disrespected by foreigners.
I'm pretty sure in SK you can get charged for traces in your system, which has already been proven. idk how the courts handle it with foreigners though, because heavy weed smokers can test positive up to 6 months later without smoking in that time.
As a Korean, we are one of the most disgustingly vengeful people on this planet. I remember my grandma telling me about how she hated this Japanese woman that talk behind her back and got her in trouble. I asked her when and where this happened so that could confront the person, thinking it was someone in the senior center where she lived, and my grandma responded with, “when I was 17 in Korea”.
Pfft. Your grandma, who I am sure is a very nice woman, has nothing on two towns I heard about in the Balkans that were enemies because someone in one of the towns insulted someone in the other town sometime in the 11th century. Those people know how to hold a grudge.
Man, when you go to a place that is safe, where you can walk around without watching your back, where people are respectful, you enjoy it. Don’t try to take advantage, kindness is not weakness.
speaking of public defenders in the U.S. I am now 73yrs old but when I was a young man in Texas I got into some serious trouble with the law and could not afford an attorney. During my arraignment I was given the choice of getting appointed a public defender. As it happened a case had just finished and the defender of the last case was about to leave the court and the judge asked him if he would be interested in taking my case. He agreed and took me into a side room and we spoke, the first thing he said was for me to tell him the absolute truth because he needed to know if he was going to be able to help me. I told him everything. Long story short I spent just over a year in county jail be in the end after facing a possible 15yr prison term I was set free with no probation or conviction. It turned out that the "public defender" that had a taken my case on short notice was one of the most prominent defense attorneys in the state. He had just finished a pro bono case and took mine on as such that day. Thank you defense attorney Mr. William Walsh!
You can also get the other end of the stick, my public defender did nothing for me facing ten years, eventually after my lawyer refused to ask the judge for an ibond because of the circumstances of the case and despite knowing I should keep my mouth shut I spoke up one day in court a week before Christmas and shockingly the judge let me out that night and I ended up getting probation the next month, basically because of the judge and advocating for myself, the lawyer did Jack ish

Somali just released a video of him holding an emergency passport, after coming out of a US Embassy. He IMMEDIATELY flipped of the camera. He IS NOT sorry. Korea PLEASE punish him.
That's pretty much used for identification only at this point. He's on a no-fly list, not even his original passport would enable him to fly back while he's under investigation. Korea is his jail essentially now until they decide to let him go. The passport is just a travel document, it doesn't guarantee any travel. Plus, he lied to his own embassy to get one. You can only get those in case it's "lost or stolen". Having it confiscated by authorities is neither, so even if Korea is somehow super lenient on him, maybe the States won't be.
Yeah that passport only works if the country you're trying to leave doesn't stop you. Johnny can try though. I'd love to see how that works out for him.

I love Koreans. Short story. When I live in Vancouver in the '90s, a Korean family owned a corner store across from my apartment. I would go there all the time and got to know them. One time I was in, I just bought junk food. One of the owners, I forget her name, she gave me a bunch of bananas for free because "I should eat better." Yeah, that was direct, but it came from a good place. I really did appreciate that and that showed me the kindness of people in a big city.
I have a similar experience with an (Indian) Sikh family, I worked in their store as a student and they used to give me food and invite me to their family events and festivals. Lovely people.
I said in another comment that him gaining a temporary passport wouldn’t gain him anything or means of escape. They would just put a mark on his passport that would make him blacklisted for escaping.
Remember how the police asked him if he was willing to surrender and go to jail... I think that was his only chance to at least secure food and shelter because soon, he will be out of money and wont even have any way to earn it.

The last was a strong arm robbery of a store that resulted in the owners both being beating badly. Yes it went public. The thing is if he travelled from country to country being nice and showing the culture the nimrod would have gotten a better reaction and more views too. I hope Korea throws the book at him...
First off, excellent interview. I was totally not expecting that. I also sent an email to the US Embassy in S. Korea humbly imploring them to not help him at all. He must be held accountable this time. Hopefully they will be swayed if enough of us speak up.
That's a good idea. I'll do the same. I'd love to go to South Korea someday and don't want Koreans to think so Americans are like this disrespectful idiot.
As a government agency, the Embassy does not care about your emails. There are procedures and requirements to get an emergency passport, and if he follows those procedures, they will issue one. However, EVERYWHERE in South Korea, except maybe in your appt or hotel room, you are on camera. Businesses, on the street, building lobbies, elevators, restaurants and bars, CCTV is everywhere.

I don’t necessarily like all of Legal Mindset’s opinions, but his legal discussions are totally on point. This is one thing we can all come together on: Johnny needs to feel the consequences of his actions.
As an American we have a saying here in the USA... "THROW THE BOOK AT THEM", that means give them the MAXIMUM sentence, be as harsh as legally possible. I want to see "Johnny Somali" made an example out of, even if that means he gets 40 years imprisonment so when he gets out the whole world will have forgotten about him and his life would essentially be finished.
I hope that the South Korean judiciary realizes how much the American public are behind them. He is a disgrace to the U.S. and would love for him to be made an example for worldwide perspective.
America sentenced the grand theft auto guy (The guy who did a GTA run in rl and wanted to be infamous for it) 150 years. He cried during sentencing because he thought he would get a couple years. Need to make an example of him over there. I hope they do.
One bushel of cabbage is HEAVY . It's not just picking them. He's ban from every major stream service so he's not making money for his jackassery. He's out on the streets where people are literally hunting him for sport.
At that time, I couldn't have imagined a horrible American like Somali doing such horrible things to our allies.

speaking of public defenders in the U.S.

I love Koreans. Short story. When I live in Vancouver in the '90s, a Korean family owned a corner store across from my apartment. I would go there all the time and got to know them. One time I was in, I just bought junk food. One of the owners, I forget her name, she gave me a bunch of bananas for free because "I should eat better." One bushel of cabbage is HEAVY . It's not just picking them. I helped a farmer load his truck carrying a bushel of cabbages across uneven uphill on uneven terrain is EXHAUSTING and very UNPLEASANT and that was just one 2.5 ton flat bed truck..... as you load they must be lifted higher and higher as they are stacked. never want to do that again . Farmers deserve more respect.
He's ban from every major stream service so he's not making money for his jackassery. He's out on the streets where people are literally hunting him for sport. He's not going to be welcome in any restaurant or bar. He's very distinct looking for that country, so he can't really deny who he is. So he's pretty much paying for a hotel and food delivery until his trial. Personally if i were him, i wouldn't trust anything served to him.
Yeah people are literally hunting him lol

Why wouldn't he try to escape SK illegally considering he's already a criminal. Legal ways are gone but he shouldn't care at this point
I still don't get why someone would go to a country just to annoy the people of that country.
Some cultures are simply incompatible
Simple. Just clout, plus easy money donations. What other skills does he have to make cash and enjoy it?
It’s been an American pastime long before Johnny.
He thought he could get away with it. It’s honestly a lot to do with how he was raised. Perpetual victimhood, nothing is their fault etc. Also.. despite the narrative that the msm and dem’s try to push.. the vaaaaaast majority of hate crimes in America where an Asian/jew was the victim.. the perpetrator is blk. They think they can walk all over Asians and get away with it for 2 reasons.. 1- they’re perceived as weak and meek in America and easy targets by his race 2- they despise the other minority groups and especially ones that still do well despite said “oppression”..
Think about it.. look at the countries where he has tried to pull his shenanigans. What do they all have in common..?
He thought he could go over there and get clout and money by targeting them and that he could get away with it because they get away with a lot here.
He explained it very clearly: money and he lacks empathy.
I’m a simple man, I see Johnny Somali getting karma, I click.
Look at the score board Johnny Is going to be the last 12 have the ball right before the clock runout
Me too. Because he is a nuisance
As long it new information not repeated.... I need stop watching these videos
Maybe, we hope. Don't count the money till the dealing's done.
I really hope the US govt doesn’t intervene on his behalf, because it absolutely should not.
His mother can’t possibly be proud of him. There’s no way she’d try to get him back.
Johnny "Somali" will not be rescued by the Trump administration. If his name was Johnny American, maybe he'd have a chance. 😂
they can’t and won’t…it’s no different than the dummy who got convicted of vandalism in Singapore in the 90s and got sentenced to caning
They won't. Its way below their radar. I'm sure the embassy is paying attention but if they haven't intervened yet, it won't happen.
@ it’s not below their radar, by international treaty they literally can’t do anything more than help get a lawyer
TLDR: He's screwed.
You mean tl;dw. Tl;dr means too long didn’t read. Tl;dw means too long didn’t watch.
NOT enough.
That drug charge is 10 years . He’s gonna do 10-25 years watch
Well I doubt it because they didn't find it on him but his system. That I am aware. Unless that doesn't matter.
@@Bakedea87 don't know if it doesn't matter - but yeah dude in alot of asian countires ( know this is the case in china - am assuming it is similar in Korea ) you are charged with drug consumption ; because they have found it in your system. You don't need to be in possession of any amount to get into trouble for this.
Literally whole cites in America would be in prison if you could get arrested for that in America 😂
@@Bakedea87 it doesn't matter. If they find traces in your system it counts.
@@Bakedea87korean law is written in your system is illegal thays how they get koreans for doing it overseas. They test your blood and hair and he was tested in hospital due to him acting crazy they thought he was on drugs
4:45 whats funny is that right after his apology video he self recorded himself mocking the acts he did before xD. There is also evidence that after his apology videos on Japan, after leaving the country he deleted those apology videos as if nothing had happened, it just tells the amount of ego he has, how self absorbed he is, he even said it himself, he doesnt care, he just cares about money, recording himself, like how do you get so d*mb
Everytime Johnny "gets away" with it, it just emboldens someone else to just "deal" with him before the laws gets to him
So when his hotel funds dry up, does he just live on the street, with no food?
I sure hope so. 🤣
They are toying with him, they are letting him use up all his money lol, then after he has suffered from some homelessness theyll come and catch him for trial.
@@daniggeewafafwa Unfortunately, his crayon munchers will continue to donate to him

It's just incredible that streamers like this has an audience
He deserves to be penalized with the full extent of the law!
