- Edgar Askelovic is a German-based artist who makes hyperrealistic sculptures of celebrities. One of his notable works is a Basquiat-themed sculpture for Rihanna's 30th birthday. The piece took five months to complete, even though it was a six-step process! He finishes the clay sculpture with silicone to give the sculpture a fleshy texture. He then details the sculpture to be as realistic and similar-looking to his subject as possible.

He makes something to copy from,that uses that eyes as a fixed point to put the new mold thats created from the first copy. Then they use the new mold to copy the first copy with a stronger material.

This is exquisite!! The time dedication and patients is phenomenal. I think he can give Madame Tussauds a run for their money, way more realistic.
The trick which he almost did not show you is that the eyes are fixed in the final hard resin head. He temporarly glued some tubes with epoxy adhesive to the acrylic eyes. And when the yellow coloured silicone cast is removed you can see the two holes for these tubes which were attached to the supportcast on top of the yellow siliconecast. Those tubes are visable in an early stage when he pulled out both eyes from the plasticine sculpture. These tubes keep the eyes in the exact same possition as when the head was sculpted. The epoxy glue is removable later on from the acrylic eyes. This invention was first made by a Dutch SPFX artist named Floris Schuller back in 1990 for the film The Johnsons
