Mine splitter head snapped/tore off after 20mins of use. They have replaced it with an updated version. Hopefully it will do the job now.

Hopefully the next one hold up a lot better that's crazy that it snapped.

Thanks for the reports. Pick mine up next week. Do you think it would be possible to upset the balance of the machine if you could get a big heavy round onto it that over hung the table a bit. I asked a sales guy and he suggested not if you leave it hooked to the towball which makes sense but wondered what your thoughts were on whether it would be possible otherwise.

That’s a good question and I thought the same thing at first however it has never even come close to feeling that it was going to budge and I have lifted rounds heavier than the 80kg recommended capacity. I always split detached from a vehicle. Have fun you will love it. Just make sure your on level ground.

The only time I become nervous is towing it around the paddock behind the quadbike & hitting hidden rocks that buck the machine up on one side but its never gone near to tipping. I found if I travel with the heavy splitting knife lowered all the way it makes it more stable. If I'm cutting & splitting small timber I cut the wood into a trailer, take it to a level area where the splitter is set up & work from one trailer across the splitter & put the split timber into another trailer. I've lifted heavy BIG rounds & mine has not lifted a wheel.

When I inspected it l lifted the draw bar up, it felt fairly light which made me wonder if it wasn't connected to the tow bar would a big round overbalance the machine front to back. The table is behind the axle which had me wondering. Probably not I can't imagine a design issue so basic being overlooked could it? Whatever, when mine arrives I'll be the guy rolling a gigantic green hardwood round up to it for a baseline safe setting.

I think if you can roll it, it will lift it keep me posted on how you go keen to hear. Cheers

Does the loading deck and work area easily fold up so you can load this onto a ramped 8x5 trailer easily enough? Cant seem to find much info on portability. Be it to and from dealer or worksites on different properties.

Yes the lifting table folds vertically straight up and held in place with a chain, the side table just slides out very easy and fast. It is quite heavy and would be difficult to push up ramps with two people. Cheers

I have been useing a Bayer 50ton spliter do you think it would stand up to it

Im not familiar with the Bayer 50 Ton, however I have not found a piece of timber it cannot split and I am using some of the hardest Australian hardwood available. Cheers

Just wondering what type of wood you are splitting?

So managed to get a few hours in with the new toy till the rain killed the proceedings grrrr.....
Didn't manage to get to the big rounds yet but the width of the table ones presented no problems. I did try to lift the drawbar up with a round in place and it felt about the same balance as when empty so no issue there.
One small thing is the connector on the wedge is going to get wiped out eventually as it gets jammed into the log on the last of the downstroke. I kept the log away from the wedge post a bit to stop it happening but a small design error there to watch out for. I notice the SuperX version mounts theirs on the reverse side of the wedge to avoid that happening.
Half throttle was plenty fast enough for me and and a super hard knot got the hydraulics hammering through it easily with the thin wedge cutting a smooth finish to the timber, heaps of grunt.
Having the tables is excellent and my dodgy hips were good with zero lifting to do. Got myself a www.fiskars.com.au/products/gardening/forestry-tools-saws/woodxpert-sappie-xa22-1003623 to drag the smaller stuff around and I'm back in business.👍

Nice great to hear. Yes I always disconnect the carabiner clip once I lift the heavy logs on with the lifter and have stopped splitting with it connected. Which is one area I agree needs to be improved. The carabiner is just too large I will come up with a solution to this and post.

@@urbanfarmer5561 After contacting them I've just received a reply from Redgum and they are aware of the issue with the carabiner and think they may have a solution. Will let me know in due course as to the fix. I'll keep you posted.

    • @Spreytony
      @Spreytony Рік тому +1

@@user-mn8tg7kk9p Small point but I would like to try a slightly thicker wedge. Sometimes the log won't split right through which holds up production a bit. Apart from that all good.

@@Spreytony Many thanks matey, good to hear going well in general. My back is less than good, so looking at getting this one for the platform height and lifter. Happy days, cheers.
