Well I learnt something new, I was only taught to cut straight across from the cracks to split logs in big chunks, this will definitely be handy for me 👍
You make it look so easy. I am trying to split firewood at home into pieces that will fit into the fireplace, but my axe just bounces off the wood! I have the same axe, brand new.
Thanks for your comment. Yes they are a awesome axe. Best tip I can't give for splitting stubborn or knotted timber is accuracy, getting your next strike to hit in the same spot. Cheers
Nice vid 👍 That’s a great looking log. I see you tagged Fiskars in the description - how does that axe compare to like an X27? I’ve tried lots of splitters & axes but can go longer with less effort with the Fiskars. I’ve not tried the Stihl full size axe but do have the Stihl hatchet & its awesome 👌. * new subscriber 😊
@@Party-Marty Thanks for your comment. Yes I have tried the AX27 and for me im more comfortable using the Stihl Axe as per this video, I find the handle length works really well for my swing style. Both are very good Axes👍 I may be able to do a comparison video soon. Cheers and thanks for watching/subscribing.
Its in the state forrest public firewood area. You buy a permit but are only allowed to collect timber for firewood from dead fallen trees. I do agree some is too good for firewood but thats all we can do..Cheers
Just how my Pop showed me 50 odd years ago. Great to see, bloody nice log👍

Any reason a tree like that wouldn’t be used for timber? It’s massive

@@lroutdoors9788 Ah I see. Such a waste for it to be burned but I guess it makes sense to not incentivise people cutting down trees too much.
