- A review of the new Redgum 32000 Super HDV log splitter.
I show you why I believe this is the best log splitter on the market for this price point.

Nice splitter! Thanks for the review
Thanks for watching cheers
Great video mate you have sold me on it I’m getting one next splitter I get
You will love this machine.
looking now for a log splitter but i have no idea how to measure and get the right size - as dealers dont want to test any out. it's a hard thing to make an informed decision on. But i do like the look and quality of the redgum splitters. thanks!
I'll need to tow it around the property. How easy is it to fold up the tables?
Love it!
Its a great bit of gear
Excellent video which has helped me with my decision to purchase a log splitter after 25 years on a farm. We have two properties 150km between central Victoria and other side of Melbourne and will need to tow occasionally. Is this unit up to towing or should I consider the Whitlands?
I hope you love it as much as I do. Cheers
Yeah nice. The thing rips
Great bit of gear.
I worry about the table strength, particularly hen splitting far more dense and stringy species. What’s your experience?
I Just split a stringy bark, the table is extremely solid its not something I am concerned about while using it,
How is the splitter still going? I am looking at getting one. Any cons about it at all? Good video btw
Splitter is going great no issues to report.
Cube? Is that the same as what we call a cord in the States. ?
I’m not familiar with a cord or firewood in Australia however google tells me it’s 3.6 cubic meters = 1 cord
@@urbanfarmer5561 oh ok. A cube sound like what's referred to as a facecord. 3 facecords in a cord. General folks here cut fire wood 16 inches. A cord stacked in a pile is 8 feet long 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall so with the cuts being 16 inches long you get 3 small stacks or face cords in a stacked up cord.
Why are you dis-connecting the log lifter cable from the splitting wedge when your operating it? Is it because the cable lift wheel is on the front of the machine & the cable weight dangles in the way of your hand & bashes into it when your handling the blocks on the table?
Hi Dusty I found if you didn’t disconnect the hook it would hit the timber when the knife passed through it possibly causing damage to the hook with time.
@@allenmieluk2094 You could weld a cut 1/2 link of chain on top of the knife & directly attach the cable end loop to that or buy a SuperX3100 wood splitter for the same money or slightly less & not have that issue.
Hi Dusty that’s a good suggestion and I may just do that my local dealer sells the superx3100 for $3999 which was the same price I paid for the HDV however the main difference was that the superx3100 has a Honda domestic gp series engine oppose to the HDV which has the commercial GX series engine. I have not used the Superx3100 therefore cannot comment on the build quality and operation. Cheers
@@urbanfarmer5561 I've used both the Whitlands WS150 9HP hire spec. splitter which led me to buy a SuperX3100 as I swore I'd never use an axe or block buster again to split my red & yellow box firewood. These vertical splitters with log lifter & table are the only ones to consider in my opinion, they make splitting even the gnarliest Aussie hardwood easy. The SuperX3100 has Whitlands design D.N.A but is partially made overseas & assembled here in Australia using local & imported parts & a genuine Honda engine whereas the Whitlands WS range of splitter's are Australian made in Victoria hence the price difference.
I completely agree if you’re going to buy a splitter a vertical with lifter and table is the only way to go. Do you use your splitter for profit or just personal use?
Why don't Baumer-AG make one like this ??
I hope they're watching this video.
Only a matter of time I would say, although anything I have used from them the engines get hard to start after 12 or so months.
@@urbanfarmer5561 On second thought you are right. Their quality isn't all that good to be honest. Their engines are made from Chinesium and are average at best despite the hyped up advertisement you see. I almost took the plunge on a 40T machine, but then I came across a 35t Timber wolf machine. Vastly superiror build quality and one that has a proper Briggs and Stratton motor surpasses that of the Baumer unit and was cheaper too.
Think twice before buying Baumer products.
Patent infringment.
A foot control would be nice.
Agree that would be ideal
@@urbanfarmer5561 it's a nice set up. Beats being on the ground with a typical horizontal/vertical splitter and not everyone needs an expensive Eastonmade Axis
You don't need to hold the log on the bench once postioned under the blade & it's best to keep both hands away from the sliding knife when its working especially on the down stroke.
Is that splitter available in the states? Reno
Best to contact the company 'Red Gum' to see. Cheers
I would consider adapting a foot pedal so you have both hands free to work
A foot pedal would be ideal and I will definitely be doing this in the future. Cheers
Dude! If you are going to make UA-cam videos you need to turn your phone the other way!!!
100% my first one.
Definitely not the best one. But might do the job
which one you recommend? I was looking at one of these to get. Whats wrong with them?
Splits all the Australian hardwood I put under it just fine.
