did anyone else notice the repeat of a clip of video in the middle of it? over all a good video and is helping inspire me for my cross country road trip in 2 years
That was a glitch in the matrix...
Love it got mine done and looks great I used wing nuts to drop the tray for easy removal. Home Depot or Lowes sells the hydro turf if anyone need to find it
Excellent video ED, I am CNC machinist by trade and have been wanting to do this awhile now. considered drawing one on solid works and having it laser cut but after watching your video definitely inspired me with some more options . love the hydro turf just like what's on my boat 👍👏👏
Reading your description, so you made a second one for this video? Great video too!
Cutting around the posts could be accomplished with a large pair of dividers ..... much like measuring a log when building a log cabin. Another great video , thanks Jake !!
Great DIY project! Thanks!
Keep up the good work champ 👍
From down under 💪🏿
Impressive! You seem to be very experienced/skilled at pattern-making and woodworking. Your fit and finish are very well done. I'm sure that build was a fraction of the cost for a store bought cover. Thanks for the vid, Jeep bro.
they dont sell stuff like this for a jeep yj with a sports bar, ive been trying to think of the best way, this is a great help. thanks!
Nice Jeep 👏👏👏!! Very good work 👍
Cool idea with the shelf underneath. I made something for an older Jeep that was basically the same thing, but mine wasn't as nice lol. For the window shelf, where you store the windows, you could glue a piece of felt on that shelf to keep from scratching them as you slide them in and out over the years. =)
love your vids man.
Awesome video Ed! Can you do an install video on the key entry too?? Thanks in advance
Very Nice job man, I live in Brazil and we don't have this facilities to make this jobs at home. Congratulations !
thanks for the video, very helpful and plan to make one soon. just curious where you got the hydro-turf at, and what size of sheet was it that you used?
Great vid! Where can I grab some hydro turf? I have no idea where to find it.
Would love a follow up on how to disable the seat release up top and change it to inside the trunk
Would you be able to do this with a hardtop? BC I would like to have this for extra storage with the hard top on, as well as having security when the top is off. Thanks!
Hey Ed! This is really cool. I have a question, though... can you still put the soft top down with this installed or does this limit you to only being able to really do the freedom top flip back and remove the back windows? I'm trying to make something similar on my 2 door (thanks for the inspiration!) but on the 2 door, I can't see a way to make it so I can also put the soft top all the way down, which might be just fine. Thanks, just curious if the 4 door is very different or if I missed a trick.
just a suggestion, to make the wood panel more robust use Marine plywood as it is meant to be around water. A cheaper solution would be PT plywood.
DustySeven7 My original plan was to use StarBoard, but the hydroturf will not stick to it..
EMT / Firefighter and then this stuff on the side
***** Since he didn't answer you, I'll answer since I'm in the same profession as him. As a firefighter/paramedic, you only work 2-3 times a week, usually, so you have 4-5 days to do other things like hobbies or a second job.
*****
You also have to remember though, that firefighters work 24 hour long shifts, some places even do 48 hour long shifts. The typical firefighter work schedule is 24 hours on, 48 hours off. Pay is really dependent upon where you live, and what kind of certifications you have, as well as time worked at a department. It's a great career and you get a lot of self-gratification from it, but it's definitely not for everyone.
What if they push the back seats down then they can get in??
Eddie what was that device you had on the orange crush that made people's raft detectors go off?
My CNC makes 1/8" Bits rattle like mad! Any suggestions to cut Chatter?
Did you get the plush style hydro turf sheet?
I just watched your video, I'm going to do the same thing on my jeep Thanks for the information. The only thing I noticed you didn't show how you located the holes To bolt it to the jeep.
How'd you get it installed after completely assembling prior to installing?
You should put felt or some soft material. The plywood can scratch the plastic panels when inserting and pulling out of the shelf.
How would you do the exact same thing for a hard top?
Eddie, where did you get the hydro turf?
Where do i get hydro turf from or is there an alternative
what did you study for do all these stuff?
you are a genious!!!
Would something like this work with the hardtop on?
What does it look like when you try to fold the soft top down?
could this be used with the hard top?
Nice
so you wrap both halves of the shelf separately with hydroturf first?
Im also confused on how you installed it into your jeep with the lower shelf already screwed on to the main shelf
+Michael Wilcoxson because then you can get the shelf to separate into halves again to install it back into the jeep
Dude I liked the video, just could fix the volume? Mute down the power tools, your talking then power tool comes on and is loud af. Keep up the good work!
How many times can I say hydro turf ??
Eddie- super late to the party, but great video. question- unless the bolt comes up from the bottom, I can't figure out how you got the fastening nuts below the plywood and kept them in place wile you were bolting down... can you tell us how you did that? Help!? Thanks Man!
Uhm... slide the bolt through, then tighten the nut from the bottom.
I'm even later 🤣
thanks
Great video. But can you please expansion how u installed
It after it was wrapped. Are u able to lift the rear section to put stuff
Underneath?
After completed, he cut cut the hydroturf down the line (where the two boards meet, long ways) and removed the two strips along the bottom side (which hold the window shelves). Lay the two top pieces on, then re install the two strips along the underside.
What about if they fold down the seats
lloydrage agreed. Most of the commercial kits for this include a front plate. You need to add one to this setup if you want to be really secure.
what are the dimensions of the board that you started with? hard to hear in the video
How did you match up the hardtop holes to the cover?
Mark them from the underside.
where did you get the remote swivel light mounted over your tire ?
Kinda looks like this danasafetysupply.com/golight-5149-permanent-mount-spotlight-searchlight-with-wired-remote/
can you please give us a tutorial on the keypad please please please!?
recycling tubs do make great saw horses
Hey Ed where can I get 1 of those Jack Daniels tee shirt
Any chance you have the measurements???
Do you have ig?
This vid would've been nice if put links on the tools and materials used.
U are a smart 😜 u should work for jeep company , does People don't think of nothing lol
I’m confused, why doesn’t companies sell this!!! I’m building a 2’-4 wooden deck on mine, stain and poly , don’t worry its replaceable and looks nice
A company named drop topz has been for a few years now, outta Ohio I think
You need a mic bro. You're voice is going in and out when you turn away from the camera. Outside noise is interfering.
Why don’t you make them and sell them I would have bought one!!!
Cool....quit saying hydro turf
That's a JKU please change vid title. Jk is 2dr model. Thanks
