You have an awesome, wholesome dad. Thanks to your family (and especially your mom!) For sharing him with the rest of the world. There's so much negative stuff out there. And even the other characters in the game have a pretty high level of toxic crap to weed through. Halsin, and the way your dad portrayed the amazing writing gave me and so many others a little refuge of goodness in a sea of chaos and horribleness... both in game and in IRL. So... thanks to your whole family for allowing this to happen.

Really happy to see Dave enjoys playing Halsin and takes all "the bear" memes in stride. I do hope we get some extension for our favorite Papa Bear in the form of updates or DLC.
What I really loved was that there were two to four poly and pan-sexual scenes with him. I'm kinda disappointed that we didn't get his opinion on that aspect that it's canonical that Halsin is pansexual and was a sex slave.
Now I’m gonna mark Dave as one of the most whole some actors out there in the industry right now. Dave deserves to be in every game he wants, what a good man!

I love Halsin so dearly, honestly. Not because of the bear, sexy stuff, it's all nice, sure, but all inner about this man; I cherish all the pure goodness and sweetness this man carries within himself, such characters are so rare and precious.
These bg3 interviews are seriously great. After hearing so many actors talk about how writers adjust future lines to fit the actors' deliveries, I want to hear from some writers about their process.
I barely remember voices of the actors in the movies I go to see. But when I spend hours playing a game I never forget them. Ever. And I always recognize them anywhere again. It's like developing a weird relationship with them. Makes you happy hearing them again.
he's so genuinely fun and nice, and did a great, great job with Halsin, and this entire part about getting late into voice acting actually proves that it's never "late" and it's always possible, no matter who and where you are such an inspiring bloke from Bolton he is :D

@@th0rne_999 Well, that's the impression he left on me. Maybe it's because Gale at least had more other stuff to talk about. Maybe it's because Halsin is a buffed up giant who felt more intimidating. But each time Halsin didn't talk about being passionate towards me, he talked about being passionte in a bear form. Also, it was in the release version of the game before any patches, which was later confirmed to have a bug with companions being too horny for no reason.
Halsin is absolutely my favorite character in BG3 and Dave did a really amazing job voicing him. I am glad that Halsin became a bigger character than just an NPC, so Dave got more exposure :D I would love to see him voicing more character in other video games, he has such a charming and warm tone. When the game first came out, I wasn’t super into Halsin, I was Astarion all the way and barely paid attention to much else. But now that I've started exploring the game more and learning more about Halsin and experiencing more of his character, I've completely fallen in love. Dave did amazing, and he's such a funny guy. It's true, it's very clear how much fun he had, and it 100% adds to my fun. ❤

Thanks for doing these interviews. VAs usually don't get the attention they deserve. Halsin did have a dark secret in data files and I have to wonder if that's the difficult scene Dave was talking about. It was cut, so I won't say what it was (although I am sure you can find it on the internet), but I wish they had left it in. It would have really rounded out the character.
@@mulqueen2023 In early EA, Halsin had been the one who killed Isobel, in self defense, with the glaive Sorrow. It was removed early and it's certainly not canon. We're not told exactly what happened to her in the release version, but I think agents of Shar killed Isobel in a scheme to recruit Ketheric. (There's a druid notebook saying Ketheric did not fall, he was pushed.)
Oh wow interesting, it makes more thematic sense for him not to have killed her (I can't quickly see how much sense that would make now they made his conversion to Shar was due to her death). It's interesting how much seems to have changed between EA and release unsurprisingly I suppose given there were years in between. I really struggle to use Halsin in game (I used him as a healer) but like his character.
Oh Dave did a *fantastic* job as Halsin. The voice tone, in all situations, was absolutely well done. I hope Dave is enjoying all the love coming his way :) Halsin is one of my favourite characters of the game for sure!

I originally wasn't going to romance anyone in BG3 - just wasn't interested. Then Halsin reminded me of my SO, so I'm like, okay, FOMO is winning and I can work with him. The FUNNIEST thing to me is that my partner - he's also a software developer who's been at the same company 18 years.

Tbh...the bear scene during the Panel from Hell 100% convinced me to play the game 😇 Edit: I just finished watching the interview and hearing Dave tell about how he got into voice acting struck a chord with me. I strongly feel the need for a creative outlet but up until now, I've always been too scared to start anything new for fear of failing and I started to think that it was too late for me anyway (I'll turn 34 soon). Hearing this makes me hope that many things are still possible

It was most likely a scene that ended up being cut content after he became a companion option - it was Halsin talking about the shadow curse and his involvement in the conflict against Ketheric, so in the scene Halsin felt it was completely his fault for what he did. Something that he regretted and it traumatised him.
