Its all about interest, passion, support, etc. The West Coast needs more events in areas where spectators can come across a race and watch it. I've been waiting for this for a couple of years. This team will gain talent and experience through diversity and a sense of family to make them successful - Justin has the charisma to help take them beyond just success. He can make them very special... and very COOL! Thank you for representing American cycling, Justin and brothers, and Team Legion...
Gotta say a big thank you both to Jeremy and GCN for making this film. Really never heard of the L39ion racing team or the Williams brothers but it was really fascinating to hear a bit of Justin's story and what it was like for him trying to make his mark on cycling. I guess that since cycling is quite a Euro centric sport that its always very alien for riders in the USA to make it big here and reach either World Tour or Pro Conti level. It would be really interesting to see more films like this which expose the development and domestic side of racing in the USA and try to shed some light on what the process is like for riders from non traditional cycling nations. Really great to see that Justin is actively using riders from a wider ethnic background to include them in the team and help to make the sport of cycling really appeal people from all differnt backgrounds who wouldn't usually be exposed to the sport. Really well done and a would be cool to follow up onn the story again in the future!
Whatever you’re paying J Pow, you should double it. He’s a natural broadcaster and I really appreciate the wider perspective he’s bought to your channel. The US production team is top notch too.
What makes this video even better isn’t the insight into Justin and Corey and their cycling team ripping up Crit races, it’s the fact that both, given their successes, are some of the coolest guys in cycling... that’s the beauty of this... he is who you see and in the end, in cycling, we can appreciate the realism in people like him, because that shouldn’t be rare - it should be the norm... Great job GCN!
Great video. The Williams bros and L39ion reminds me a bit of the old times in the 90s when skateboarding wasn't primarily a sport but a family and a lifestyle.
Great to see this work highlighted!! I hope GCN can do more to highlight what continental teams are doing to grow the sport from within. Justin and his crew are truly inspiring. It’s great to see someone that’s still on top of there game pay it forward to the next generation.
I met Justin at an event for Specialized Dealers last September. He sat at our dinner table one night and graciously answered questions from my curious industry peers. Eventually he told us the story of how he got into cycling with his father, and eventually how he became involved with racing. He is one heck of a nice guy, and a fierce competitor. He’s also right about pro cycling’s antiquated sponsorship and employment systems. The Williams brothers have taken 100% control of their professional careers. Personal sponsorships with companies that will get your back when you are in need of help, and teams that are more like co-ops or really families is what the future needs to be in order to ensure the survival of our sport here in the US, and to ensure the growth worldwide. Legion should be the model for Professional cycling teams from here forward.
REPRESENTATION MATTERS. Thank you for highlighting such a cool local team. As a cyclist who is also a woman of color, I love seeing these guys out there on the road and feeling like they really get LA bike culture and are not afraid to do it their own way. So so inspiring and motivational to keep doing things my own way as well, despite not looking or acting like a “traditional cyclist”.
What does "as a cyclist who is also a woman of color" have to do with this video? This man, along with his brother, are changing cycling. A lot of people should learn from them. I wish them the best success going forward. What else is there than that?
They're the Williams Bros are definitely a major reason why I got into crit racing. Representation matters. Thank you GCN for sharing their story to a broader audience.
I love that, “lets make it cool” I’ve always loved cycling and rode now and then but not as often as I should. This year for the last 3 months in a row I have been consistent and passionate about riding that many of my friends have been motivated and followed along.
I know that I am late to the party, but what he has created is nothing short of extraordinary. Be a minority, you understand diversity. It was so evident in how he created his team. And I love that he is using his platform to uplift his brothers and other minority cyclists. He understands that this is much than him. Big ups to Just.
Hats off to the whole GCN team for putting this together, the Williams brothers are truly an inspiration to us all, especially to our ppl. Love it !! Side note: this ended like a movie that has a sequel coming?!!! A part 2 would be just as 🔥
To me, one of the most exciting bits of storytelling on GCN. Just letting the Wms brothers put their bike experiences in a bigger context. And with such heart.
“That’s my culture, that’s important to me” ding ding ding ding ding we have a winner. Don’t let others tell you how to be. This guy is full on Goggins.
Huge fan of these guys. The Williams brothers are extremely talented, competitive, and LIT. Would love to shake their hand someday. Mad support from a CO amateur!
What comes across to me from watching this and several other videos of Legion, both racing and interviews, is how methodical, disciplined, prepared, strategic, and well-organized they are.
My face hurts from smiling for 24 minutes and 25 seconds...what a great video. These guys are so humble and inspiring! I had the pleasure of meeting Justin in Tulsa right after their Crit win in 2019.
At 14:30.., "Being the strongest guy is easy but learning how to ride with tactics..."!! that jumped out at me. Another person GCN has introduced me to that I wish I knew.

What a great video that was to watch! Big respect to the Williams brothers, and I especially liked what Cory said about the importance of love, and how important it is in the success of the team, and he's right. Love truly brings out the best in people. Cheers GCN!
The best video you have ever done. Justin Williams and the Legion team are doing something amazing for the sport of cycling, inspiring communities and putting diversity into the cycling.
This is the best content from GCN that I've watched. Justin, Cory, CJ, and the rest of L39ion are fantastic people in addition to being tremendous cyclists, and I love this look into their team and their philosophy.
Seriously very educational and spiritual video. In fact we should see more like this. Whoever in XXIst century sees any difference in people because of color or religion or political beliefs is super... inappropriate. Cheers.
This is downright fantastic content. Perhaps the top thing I have ever seen on GCN. Justin: what a great representative for the sport...and, more importantly, the people in the sport.
Legion has a serious “it” factor. With that being said this is one of the very best pieces of content GCN has ever put out. [scentence retracted as it takes away from the positive mood of this video] Bigup to the Williams brothers and the L39ION family on putting together a successful and exciting programme. Hit me up if you want to come to Jamaica we can put some rides together for you!
fel1918 maven made a sadly ridiculous and somewhat “blind hater” statement in the comments on a specialized video about Justin. It was not a good look, I stopped following maven because of it.
SkeetSystem you’re absolutely right. Better to the point my mention of CM takes away from this video and the Legion team. I apologize for bringing it up.
"...it's important for me to create something that other people can benefit from, rather than just myself." The sport is really lucky to have these guys right now. Like really, really lucky. Thanks for the awesome showcase GCN, great job J Pow. Lots of racing love here in the US!
Outstanding video! Thanks for taking a step in the direction towards examining cycling culture at its roots, and the truly inspirational people who are at the heart of cycling. MORE OF THIS PLEASE!
Keep doing your thing bro, cycling is dope. Sometimes I'm embarrassed when someone asks me what sport I'm into, or what hobby im in too. I sometimes get a nasty response like, "oh you wear those tight spandex, that's pretty gay" would be cool to see road cycling accepted here in the US as a proper sport.
I think we all get that same shit. Meanwhile wrestling isn’t considered “gay” and its sweaty dudes in spandex groping eachother. All we can do is laugh it off.
Evol M3 ......They wear tights in pro football and slap each other on the ass. GO FIGURE! Next time someone states“Cycling is a Ghey sport” tell them ride 5 miles with you and keep up. 😜
YES. This is the content GCN needs! I highly suspect Jeremy Championed this video and made it happen. As a cultured American, he knows what questions to ask someone struggling with the trials and tribulations of our specific challenges while presenting it in a manner that people across the globe would find interesting. Not that GCN wouldn't recognize this story as unique and special, but would they ask these same questions, with the same energy and coolness behind them? They really bring out the vibe Legion is putting down. Best interview since Matt left, keep 'em coming!
Man, I wish that these guys were around when I was coming up! Would've loved to have been part of something like this as a cyclist. Definitely a fan! Thanks once again, to GCN and J-Pow, for putting this out. Mad respect! Ride hard, lean harder!
This was a really good presentation and streets away from the typical UK content. It’s not about the kit or science, cycling is a state of mind to most and your biggest competitor is your own mind. I like it when cyclists lay out the things that drives them
This is the best video GCN has ever produced, please produce more content like this. Its great and inspires everyone to get on the bike for the right reasons.
That was a great watch. Justin's results were already incredibly impressive, and I'm all for more style and swagger in our sport, but his commitment to his mission (to grow the sport so people like him can reach their potential) is next level. These guys, and a few of the women's teams, make me excited about the domestic scene in a new way. I let my MLB.TV subscription lapse because I'm more exited to watch USA Crits. That's kind of amazing. Kudos to Justin and the rest of the Legion crew.
"I think I have the maturity now to be a pro tour rider...It's more important for me to create something that a lot of people can benefit from, rather than just myself." "I understand what the long game is, and I've never been more sure, never been more sure of what I should be doing. " Legend.
Well done JPOW and GCN for documenting this team. I loved the focus on the riders stories and L39ION's ethos. Gear and training is good GCN filler material, but teams and people are what cycling is really about. Chapeau Justin, thank you for nurturing humanity and hope in this sport. I wish there had been a team like this when I started in 1972.
L39ION is disrupting the cycling world for the benefit of us all. Absolutely elevating the mindset of what is, and what can be for future generations of riders. The world needs the Williams brothers, their dedication, heart, commitment and focus. Ride on gentlemen, you are doing great things.
As a hobby cyclist in greater LA, sometimes I feel like I'm at the point farthest away from the center of the cycling universe. I appreciate J Powers' work to bring some great aspects of LA cycling to light. Whatever you’re paying J Pow, you should double it. He’s a natural broadcaster and I really appreciate the wider perspective he’s bought to your channel. The US production team is top notch too.
he also knows how to wear a cap
Now to make a follow up video with them during the middle of the USA Crits series in the summer...
ripp to that idea
As someone who took off the whole weekend for the Tulsa Tough weekend, I’m so sad about this year. Among so many other reasons.
Justine Williams we will always support you 100% from Belize.
Good to see another brother out here riding... that’s motivation for a beginner like me.
Keep the rubber side down, Melissa.
What does "as a cyclist who is also a woman of color" have to do with this video? This man, along with his brother, are changing cycling. A lot of people should learn from them. I wish them the best success going forward. What else is there than that?
why the mention of the 'woman of colour' these guys are cyclists.......end of
These guys are inspiring and Justin is a very impressive young man. I think this is exactly what cycling needs and I wish them all the best.
Wow! Blown away by that film! Next level cool!
Hands down one of, if not the best GCN videos to date. People are always more interesting and inspiring than the latest tech.
Well done, loved it!
Wow, that was the best video GCN has ever made; great content, production quality etc . It had everything. Congrats to stepping up your game.
They're the Williams Bros are definitely a major reason why I got into crit racing. Representation matters. Thank you GCN for sharing their story to a broader audience.
Wow ...outstanding video Jeremy and GCN.A big hats off to Justin Williams and L39GION!!
I love that, “lets make it cool” I’ve always loved cycling and rode now and then but not as often as I should. This year for the last 3 months in a row I have been consistent and passionate about riding that many of my friends have been motivated and followed along.
He’s completely right. A lot of higher ups in cycling need to watch this video.
Wow, I've never seen production like this from GCN. The montage, and music, and conversations - everything was great here.
That is some inspirational 4star play. I love what Mr. Williams is achieving! Give him more support!
Yessssss! More of these mini-documentary type of videos, love it and I love the Williams bros!
What an amazing team! All inclusive and accepting and supportive. That is what makes a solid team. These guys are doing it right! Massive respect. Thanks to GCN and J Pow for bringing this content to us.
Loved it. Also love the long format and storytelling. We all knew these guys were dope but this was incredible and big ups to GCN for taking the time/money to go out of your way to tell these stories. Ya'll are doing some great things
Fantastic and inspiring video, Jeremy! What a great story about the Legion and USA cycling!
Wow, awesome! Thanks GCN for this great insight into L39ION. The Williams Brothers and team L39ION are bringing much needed wind of change. I wish them a grand season and many victories.
What a great video that was to watch! Big respect to the Williams brothers, and I especially liked what Cory said about the importance of love, and how important it is in the success of the team, and he's right. Love truly brings out the best in people. Cheers GCN!
The best video you have ever done. Justin Williams and the Legion team are doing something amazing for the sport of cycling, inspiring communities and putting diversity into the cycling.
really loving the legion jersey tho, those are sleeksss
Waaay cool!
They’re on the Rapha website.
The fire just started, for sure Justin's efforts would not go to waste.
He made America great again.
Great vid GCN. Keep it up.
My favourite GCN video of all time.
Legion has a serious “it” factor. With that being said this is one of the very best pieces of content GCN has ever put out.
[scentence retracted as it takes away from the positive mood of this video]
Bigup to the Williams brothers and the L39ION family on putting together a successful and exciting programme. Hit me up if you want to come to Jamaica we can put some rides together for you!
What has Cycling Maven to do with this ? Have I missed something ?
fel1918 maven made a sadly ridiculous and somewhat “blind hater” statement in the comments on a specialized video about Justin. It was not a good look, I stopped following maven because of it.
I like that you can make an accusation these days, provide no details, and have it still have traction.
SkeetSystem totally agree
SkeetSystem you’re absolutely right. Better to the point my mention of CM takes away from this video and the Legion team. I apologize for bringing it up.
"...it's important for me to create something that other people can benefit from, rather than just myself." The sport is really lucky to have these guys right now. Like really, really lucky. Thanks for the awesome showcase GCN, great job J Pow. Lots of racing love here in the US!
Simply. Awesome. Jeremy, thank you so much for bringing attention to so many things that are great in American cycling!
Dope vid. Glad to see real homies from LA reppin the sport.
This was one of your absolute top 5 videos. Great interview.
I just love that GCN is doing more videos in LA. As a mixed-race person, born and raised in LA, it's good to see some variety on the channel.
i did my first road race today. i really enjoyed it.
Congrats. That is a huge deal!👏👏👏👏
How did u do?
@@PcGangMusic i think i did fairly well. i was second in a couple of em
Facts
I think we all get that same shit. Meanwhile wrestling isn’t considered “gay” and its sweaty dudes in spandex groping eachother. All we can do is laugh it off.
my favorite response is "all i'm hearing right now is thigh envy"
Evol M3 ......They wear tights in pro football and slap each other on the ass. GO FIGURE! Next time someone states“Cycling is a Ghey sport” tell them ride 5 miles with you and keep up. 😜
I feel like a badass in cycling kit
Thanks for covering Legion! They are a great team and I am glad that your viewership is getting to hear about them.
"To be cool and to help" what a heart❤️
Mission Accomplished. These guys are cool. Continued success to the team.
That was great. Being from Northern California, or California in general its great to hear about the cycling community.
oh hell yeah! Justin Williams. My hero
Man, I wish that these guys were around when I was coming up! Would've loved to have been part of something like this as a cyclist. Definitely a fan! Thanks once again, to GCN and J-Pow, for putting this out. Mad respect! Ride hard, lean harder!
Would love to see some more videos on this team throughout their season
Love what Justin and his brothers have done for cycling ! The best GCn video by far !
This was a really good presentation and streets away from the typical UK content. It’s not about the kit or science, cycling is a state of mind to most and your biggest competitor is your own mind. I like it when cyclists lay out the things that drives them
Well Done Justin you are a game changer 🖒🖒keep it up.
Great interview, liked how Justin related how he has gone through a very adventurous journey.
This is the kind of content GCN should be doing. Absolutely well done.
"I think I have the maturity now to be a pro tour rider...It's more important for me to create something that a lot of people can benefit from, rather than just myself."
"I understand what the long game is, and I've never been more sure, never been more sure of what I should be doing. "
Legend.
Justin's attitude and work ethic is so inspiring. Big things coming from L39ION in the next few years!
Shout out to the interviewer. Very good questions and all around seems like a cool guy.
Awesome video! Loved the roomba chillin under the end table during the interview 😂
When I weekend ride PCH or the river flood channel trails (LA River, Santa Ana and San Gabriel) I realize that the LA Cycling community is very diverse and very passionate about our sport! Thanks again.
GCN, thank you for opening the discussion about race and cycling.
In all my time watching this show and the presentations , this was one of the most interesting and feel good episodes, and insightful . please keep up the great work and thank you the team and back story.
