  • Knowledge about the brain and learning is essential if we want to convince teachers to use more active learning strategies, a rich learning environment, stimulate curiosity, or deeper thinking. It is the first step in teacher professional development aiming for 21st century education. In this informative, interesting and factual talk, Sandra tells teacher, parents, and anyone dealing with kids what they need to know about the brain.
Sandra van Aalderen’s work and research is focused on how attitudes, beliefs, and mindsets influence learning. She is striving for education that stimulates curiosity, motivation to learn, and higher-order thinking skills. A trained cognitive neuroscientist, she switched from fundamental brain research to educational research to bring education to this next level.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Scientifically speaking.... I would be glad to invite her in a real class experience. She must extend her research on the kind of brains the new generation have. Thanks, its scientifically informative.

Isn't there 80-100 billions neurons in the brain?

    Gosh... boooooooring!
8 minutes to understand where it goes. And then to understand: "hey you know quys, what about motivation to increase brain capabilities? And as cue or proof, 2 or 3 sentences on synapses..
Please don"t tell me it is neuro-education, or even worst neuroscience...
    .
Of course the audience is perfect, everyone taking notes.. (which is just an opposite function of what should be in neuro-eudication), aplauses came at the end...
Ted seems to be more and more a a kind of Lions'club for unknown people who wants to tell to their own family members, see how I'm famous..
    Gosh!
