That just took me back to my childhood in the late 70's/ early 80's and watching Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World. Very nicely done.

I listened to the "Exploring the Roots of Religion" (2009) lecture series (The Teaching Company) by Prof. John R. Hale (archaeologist) in which he included a lecture on the Nazca lines. In that lecture, Hale favored the analysis of Anthony Aveni who wrote a book entitled "Nasca: Eighth Wonder of the World?" (2000). Aveni revived the archaeo-astronomy hypothesis, using computer analysis and taking into account tropical astronomy factors neglected by Gerald Hawkins's astronomy link failure.

I saw a very interesting BBC documentary on the Nazca Lines which gave your final explanation of processive avenues the greatest weight. It's certainly a lot more plausible than landing strips for UFOs!

I'd love to know how they achieved such symmetry in images like that of the spider.

The Nazca cemetery is SO creepy! Those bodies sit looking up at you from shallow pits with small contemporary thatch shelters over them, and the strong wind has blown thousands of tiny pieces of bone and cloth all over the place out in the open! Have you been there?
