Thanks for a great look back at such an iconic car. My son just treated himself to a Golf R and I literally swallowed my tongue when he floored it. I also found one of my eyeballs under the passenger seat!!
Hi Chris, thanks for the nice video! Especially the Golf 1 GTI, nearly exactly mine! I had it Bilstein lowered, with ATS aluminium rims and 4 headlights. Of topic, last week I received my Polo GTI full specs, I'm impressive. A very pleasant car :-).
pauljansen2002 congrats for that! It's a totally different world to the Golf 1 isn't it? :-) my first car was also a golf 1 but the 1.8l. That was 14 years ago
Thanks Chris, somehow I can't get the smile from my face when I drive the Polo GTI 😉! The Golf 1 GTI (mine was a 110 PS 1.6 L from 1978 with the small rear lights) was really like a go kart as I bought it 2nd hand, it had 6 cm lowered Bilstein sport dampers, 205 Pirelli tires on wide ATS rims, stabilisator bars over and under the engine. The 4 gears were that sporty but the car didn't need any sound composing 😉 and steered like a fun go kart with only 805 kg to move. I still own my second car to date, a Scirocco 2 GTX (no cat) and with the same 112 PS 1.8 L K-Jetronic (DX engine) you had in your Golf 1 GTI 1981/2. I will not sell my oldtimer Scirocco GTX, in 34 years and 265k km absolutely reliable, NO problems whatsoever! The only electronics were the digital dash clock and the electronic ignition, that's it! The Polo GTI fired me into the 21th century, I hope it still will be "Deutsche Gründlichkeit" and reliable over time...somehow I doubt it...
I have owned 5 of these beautiful cars. It all began with my blue Mk3. Next up was a silver mk4. After that, traded her in for a white mk6. Then came the Mk7 in black. Unfortunately she got into a bit of trouble in her young age and was got a little out of control. She was totaled and along came her sister, a white Mk7. She is now gone and her younger brother, facelifted mk7.5 is now in m possession. I am eagerly awaiting the mk8's. Will probably make the purchase towards the end of the life cycle
Who done this video.. half the shit is wrong. The mk2 didn't come with the golf ball gearknob!! What??!! No someone took it out of that car😂 and the mk3 only had them in the mk3 anniversary....

Paul Abel :-) really well said :-) I also really like the Golf r. It's just beautiful and reliable
I cant believe it took this long for me to stumble across this, as have owned 3.
1985 (bought new, yes I am old)
1996 (bought new)
2016 (own now)
Mk6 best looking in my opinion....I also have a black one😉
I find myself randomly re-watching this. Love my gti.
MK6 is by far the best looking.
Mk2 for me
Shite, mk2 all the way.
The 6 is my fav exterior. I own a 7.
MK2 for me. Followed by Mk7

Omg man the mk4 ist so very nice
I have a mk2 Jetta 1.6. This gen was identical mechanically to golf just in a different body, I love it
Mk 4 was not typically like the 25th anniversary on the example, no alu surrounds. Also no mention of v64m and R32?
its GTI comparison tho, not r32 and vr6

the r32 golf mk5 is my fav
Every GTI comparison video ignores the VR6 to VR 32 platforms.
The mk2 and mk3 are the best Golf’s 👌😁
I have ABF mk2, 188bhp. Also mk3 16v, and a 280bhp mk5. I need help. Also a 1972/3 crossover. And a passat.
Mk2 and Mk7 are the best.
That is a 115bhp 8v mk3.
Could have used a better example for the golf mk1 GTI
Also the mk2, dont why he chose the 4 door to display.
golf mk3 have 2.0 16v 150ps ABF engine..
Its awesome
The mk 5 is the BEST ❤
Mk1's must be hard to find in red then.
Not in germany

O and the mk5 edition30 had bbs rims and red badges. Not monza rims.. if you are going to do a video get the cars right
„PS“ ... pii Ass
Mk3, 4, and 6 were crap.
