- Having trouble getting your indexed gears working properly? In this tutorial I will show you the way to get it right with the added bonus of setting both derailleurs up at the same time. Let me walk you through the indexing of cable operated bicycle gears.
This applies to all manufacturers' gear systems regardless of whether it is a road bike or a mountain bike. Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo, they all work on exactly the same principal. This really is an easy skill to learn and if you follow the instructions in a methodical way you'll master it in no time.
I'll show you the quickest and best way to set up both your derailleur's at once. Covering setting up the limit screws and getting the correct cable tension, you'll be setting up indexed gears to perfection in no time. I can't stress how straight forward this process is as long as you follow the steps in the same order I do. The key is to not make big adjustments at once and over doing it. This is the main mistake made when trying to set up indexing on a bike... take your time to master it for good.

Its interesting you say barrel adjustors can be adjusted while riding! This is something i am going to google now

Not your usual good standard. This is so muddled and gabbled, plus the overbearing music. This needs a calmer, more structured re make. I’m reluctant to criticise, but this is disappointing.
Thanks for saying so. JUNO, I am on YT to learn how to bring you guys could content. That was 2 years ago and I feel and hope the content is getting much better. The music thing I ditched not long after this one and I can't remove it on YT unless there is a copyright claim. I'll take that it was muddled and gabbled, but I'll also point out indexing gears correctly is a very comprehensive job that most 'mechanics' never get. I did my best at the time...
