There is simply no rational justification for the level of vitriol meted out to a player who simply shows up, game after game, and proceeds to tie, break, or set records almost every time she plays. In a league that ostensibly celebrates women, its behavior to one of their own is disgraceful. The only dignified and frankly amazing fallout is the grace and maturity evidenced by the one they choose to vilify, Caitlin Clark. She is not only inspirational on the court, but off it as well.

    1) Us white people are embarrassing with this stuff and should never use such words against black people. But social media brings out the trolls in everyway ... So, 2), I dont mind Carrington having a social conscious about such things in general .... But, Carrington's way about it here isn't helpful for her or the league when also considering CC/Fever fans (the majority main stream ones) ALSO voted in mass numbers for ALL players in their All-Star pics - up by like 600% for ALL of them, not just CC ... which honestly, Carrington probably would have otherwise gotten a lot more votes for too as she is an AMAZING player, one of the best defensive players I've seen. Heck, I picked her for All-Stars myself ... 3) My other inquiry would be: I'm surprised the WBNA allows this kind of banter between teams/players/coaches of the the league ... At my job, that would have been possible grounds for termination (or a stern dont do it again warning) doing anything like that publicly towards others in our department/agency. And I"m not much of a sport follower until now, just lightly so before, but I dont recall players within the same league getting on each other on anything outside of sports ... The victim mentality is the bane of our society, and it's sad to see it happening in the WNBA.
Caitlin Clark was raised by parents that didn't coddle her and taught her that she had to work hard for the things she wants in life, which resulted in her becoming the player she is, and why people gravitate towards her. People respect talent, but it's taken to another level when you know the person has worked their asses off to acquire it, and then are also humble about it. That is the "secret" to CC's fame and success. It's obvious that some of these WNBA players don't understand that, so they just say it has to do with her being white, which is just a lazy argument.

CC actually has good player privilege. It turns out when you are that good, people like you. Angel Reese has the same privilege and for good reason. She’s better than most rookies.

Caitlin Clark is a killer on the basketball court, like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Know what else the three of them have in common? There are people who are trying to make them look like they were never great, while they serve greatness to players like Lebron James and Angel Reese on a silver platter. That's the definition of privilege.

To be fair, I don't think there's anything wrong with NaLyssa Smith dating Djonai Carrington per say. However, I do find it unprofessional that Smith would use a moment during a game to touch Carrington inappropriately for a cheap feel. Yes, Carrington is an attractive woman in spite of her attitude, but that's not professional. I'm sorry but if you ask any employer out there if they would tolerate their employees touching each other inapprorpriately on company time, then they would tell you no. It's not acceptable. Yet, these ladies want to wonder why the WNBA hasn't been profitable in years? Do they not understand part of the reason the NBA took off in the 90's and 2000's era was because kids started to watch NBA games more often? Do they not understand that the path to making money is to keep the game family friendly so people of all ages can enjoy it?
I do agree with you that Djonai wouldn't say these things publicly if her girlfriend wasn't okay with it. And the fact that NaLyssa Smith has gone radio silent on any and all tweets that Carrington does on Caitlin and her fans, it tells me she actually agrees with everything Carrington says like you alluded to.
At the end of the day, it's sad because I think if Djonai got out of her own way and looked at the bigger picture, I think her and Caitlin Clark would make a great team together. But, that's just me.

We are forgetting our past and our history in general and we will most definitely repeat it if we don't stop this and soon. People just need to stop with all of the racial/ethnic slurs and always trying to play the victim and at the same time trying to drag someone down who is taking the high road and not speaking on it because they don't wish/care to.

It seems most of the folks following this wnba season are just causal fans that were brought here by Caitlin. I was very willing to give the W a chance to be another summer sports option other than the white Sox. I got the league pass but have not moved past fever games. Sorry.

Teammates could question when Nalyssa plays poorly or doesnt do something based on the relationship with Carrington

Caitlin Clark is an absolutely fantastic basketball player. As a player she is wonderful, amazing, unbelievable, record breaking, and the best box office draw the WNBA has ever, ever, ever experienced. That is the bottom line and everyone else should just stop the junior high whimpering and whing baby girl wannabe crap, because you just ain't got the stuff. Listen to every single clip you can find with Cailin Clark talking and you will not find her acting like a spoiled child with no class and no communication skills. She always has good things to say. That is why she gets spokes pserson contracts, she is the kind of gracious woman and amazing basketball player (she like Mike) that merchandisers want representing their products. Take some lessons from Caitlin and you might begin to see the real you in the mirror. Damn!
