Him being happy means he wants others to succeed ahead of him not off of him, because of their own acting or writing skills.

That's just the Emmy's. Any time these shows go to awards shows year after year, it's almost like you're rolling with a gang or something, people who are 100% nothing but in your corner and willing to support you. You wanna see them win, they wanna see you win. And overall you want the show to win as many awards as possible. The only exception is ... I think if you're going up against some else from the same show in your category, that might breed some resentment. For instance, I bet Steve Buscemi was slightly pissed especially considering he was only in one season of The Sopranos. That was his one chance to win it and it went to series regular Michael Imperioli instead.

@@andrewbecker9062 If you don't think people who get nominated for various awards shows like the Emmy's and Oscar's, who go through the effort of writing a speech in the event they win where 80% or more of them never even get the chance to read them, then you're a fool. They will of course smile and clap when they find out someone else wins in their category, and the one who wins will frequently get up there and say "I'd also like to congratulate everyone else in the same category who all desergved the win as much if not more than me" and it's all bullshit. It goes beyond just clout, winning at these awards ceremonies is a huge boon for them. Not that Steve Buscemi was having trouble getting parts nor will he ever have trouble getting them in the future, but generally speaking if you get nominated you want to win and anyone who says otherwise or that they'd be just as happy to be nominated and lose (or in the case of Bob Odenkirk or Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul never even get NOMINATED let alone win) is lying.

Moltisanti's death was inevitable and served as a cautionary tale for those who engaged in that kind of lifestyle. He had a lot of opportunities to get out. Entering WitPro with Adriana, becoming a successful movie producer, living a quiet life with his family, etc. But instead he chose Tony. They were literally a family...not just on screen, but even more so behind the scenes as well. TV has never seen anything like them and I really don't know if it ever will again. The first season lost to The Practice. And the next three seasons lost to The West Wing. The West Wing had some great moments and is definitely one of the 20 greatest TV dramas, and The Practice was a decent show for a while. But clearly, neither made anywhere near the impression of The Sopranos. They were just "safer" choices. Time is always the biggest judge when it comes to quality not awards. The Sopranos is still lauded and debated and seen by many of the greatest show ever. However, at least it did finally broke through, which a lot of great shows don't.

Man, if you haven't watched/listened to the Talking Sopranos Podcast you are missing out as a Sopranos fan. Michael and Steve (Bobby Bacala) give so much insight into how great every Sopranos episode was. It is worth your time!

I'm glad that season 5 finally won best drama series because as a die hard long time fan, season 5 was my favorite. Just like I'm glad Breaking Bad finally won best drama series with season 5a. PS- Deadwood should've won Emmys, and it's an INSULT that the Wire was not even nominated for anything.

PONCHODAGOD I would agree with him. I watched 2.5 seasons of the wire and it was very flat, I kept expecting some massive plot twist to happen and it kept the same flat course. It was good but in my opinion not nearly as deep as the sopranos, not to mention the main detective in the wire (forgot his name) is boring and one dimensional compared to tony soprano

How in the hell would you know anything about him from seeing him at the Emmy's? My God...Do you know how he died? Do you know anything about his family? Do you know what he wanted out of life? No. We are spoon-fed cherry-picked information about these celebrities so we feel some sort of connection to them and fork our money over to watch them. That's all it's about...Money. We don't know if Gandolfini was a good man or an evil man. Odds are, like every other human, he was both.
