A shootout between the Boom and the MOTU M2/M4 (and a few others) would be nice to hear; M2 still feels like a better purchase to me (on paper at least).
@@paulodiaz5246 Why do you think so? And what exactly is the boom better in, is it the converters, or maybe it's the preamplifier, or something else?? I'm really curious on what you're basing your conclusion. And what about the comparison of apogee boom with audient id4 mk2? I doubt between these three audio interfaces (including motu m2).
The DSP is nice but there is no time based effects for confidence monitoring like reverb or delay. You would not want to record those but they would be nice in the headphone feed.
You are talking about two entry level products. Not high end conversion. That said, most of the lower level conversion is leaps ahead of what it was 20 years ago. If you A/B them it will sound different, but I doubt you would be able to quantify which one is "better." Only a preference. People are spending thousands more to get that eye opening difference. If you treat your room or at least start to use some sort of DSP correction, like Sonarworks or similar, that will likely begin to help you more quickly with what you have. The converters on the Claret range are better than the Scarlett range for a reason. I doubt that Apogee is offering the same level converters in Boom as their higher lines.
Looking at the specs. The DA looks average for a lot of products offered at this level. The AD does look to be a bump up. So anytime you capture a source with a clearer resolution, you can hope for a nicer quality when you start any mixing.
This man knows what he‘s speaking about! Great! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
Very well put together ...thanks
Well explained Prasanth. Thank you for best upload

Booms sounds MUCH better.

Does it have reverb?
What’s the difference from boom and duet 3
Can i use the instrument input and xlr at the sane time?
Yes
Is the software silicon native? I haven't worked with Apogee software before.
would you say this would make your monitors sound better compared to the focusrite scarlet ?
Safe to say, yes. On paper the Boom's D/A conversion specs are better.

is it m1 compatible
Yes, it is M1 compatible. No fuss plug and play with my M1 MacBook Pro. Six months ago, there was no such unit available that I could find.
