Aptly titled song. Because not only is this song On Fire but the band is literally Fire. Everything they produce is Stellar Plasma Greatness. WolfPack!
Yes, Miho is absolutely amazing, and I love her direction and what she created with this band, But I wouldn't agree (in absolutist terms) with anyone saying they were heavier, that is asking me too much, like ignoring their current songs such as SSS, Dissonance, We are the resurrection, Judgement Day, Stand and Deliver, Soul Defender, Where's Identity and The Bell in the Jail. I do agree with saying that Miho wrote killer songs that are Heavy and Amazing songs, and that I love all of them.
I agree with you that there are heavy songs on the latest releases of LOVEBITES. But the LPs and EPs of LOVEBITES 2017-2020 are different from what the band released after Miho left. This can be explained by the fact that Miho was the leader and the direction the band would go in largely depended on her. And the fact that after Miho left, Mao's presence as a composer increased. For example, in 'Judgement Day', Mao wrote music (as an author) for 4 songs and co-wrote music for 2 more songs. Out of 10 songs on the Album. His participation in writing music is greater than Miyako's. Miyako is the author of music for 3 songs and co-author of music for 1 song. Although when Miho was the leader of the band, Miyako's music (as an author) on the Albums was more than Mao's music. For comparison, on all previous LPs, Mao was the author of only 1 song (on each Album). And Miyako was the author of music for 5-6 songs on each of these Albums. Mao is a great composer, but he is more inclined to write other music. This is very noticeable in the music he has written for other bands, artists and various musical projects. Nothing personal.🙏🙂
Here they had to perform under Covid regulations: Asami was not allowed to animate the audience and the audience had to stay on their seats. Normally the audience goes crazy on LB concerts, dance and jump around. But - as always - the band members gave their best. I just love this song and performance. And yes, bands like Iron Maiden, Slayer, Judas Priest, Helloween etc. are their "heros", but they do not just copy but make something own, fresh and new of it.
there are so many amazing parts to break down in this song but one of my favorites is at 6:27. just look at haruna's face and see the ease - with no strain whatsoever - that she is playing at this frenetic breakneck pace. no biggie for her. one of the best drummers ever.
Sorry. It's not about who wrote this song. 🤗Miho was the founder and leader of the band. And the direction the band was moving in, what songs were selected for the EP and Albums, what arrangements these songs would have, etc., depended largely on Miho. A leader is someone who leads people. It's like a Wolf, who is the leader of the Wolf Pack.. A leader takes the main share of responsibility for himself, for the people who follow him, for the success of the band, etc. etc. You can notice the difference between the first three LPs and EPs of LOVEBITES (2017-2021) and subsequent releases (2023-2024). Despite the fact that the fourth LP became more commercially successful than the previous LPs, there are many fans of LOVEBITES who consider their favorite LPs and EPs to be those created when Miho was in the band. Nothing personal.🙏
@@obud3777 Sorry. But, I don't think it's "Miyako's band" now. 🤔There is less Miyako's music than there was on the 2017-2020 Albums. Mao's presence as a composer has increased. For example, in 'Judgement Day', Mao wrote music (as an author) for 4 songs and co-wrote music for 2 more songs. Out of 10 songs on the Album. Even dear Miho was the band leader I am sure Victors management had the last word that is why they probably hired Mao and there is one more who is not credited that is Nana Hatori I am sure she helps alot with the english lyrics
Miho is a great bassist and the one who had a vision of an all female metal band with more of a European influence in their music. Fami is a generational talent on bass and rather than fill Miho's shoes sh brought her own pair!!! The other difference is how Miho played with very little shine time even LIVE with the band. Fami gets so much more shine time and it is as if the band is making up for the Miho time in the group. Both are great bassists just different in what they bring to the sessions. Hard to believe this was a COVID restricted show as they really played to the point of bringing the house down. Miho is a Steve Harris fanatic so she really is a child of the 80's and all those great bands who made it so awesome.
Lovebites mk II is a bit different. Some things happened during the hiatus. Two of them (Asami and Miyako) became mothers. Miho left and there was a new young and smiling energy package in Fami. All in all I think they are more laid back and happy. They are older also and my experience is that calm inside comes with age. I also think Miho had some personal problems the last year (years?), I think that is visible in some videos and it is also what I have heard. Regarding heaviness. mk II has not played "Break the wall" and "Set the world on fire". At least I have not seen any video. But, I do not know, I think mk II is heavy. I mean, "Soldiers stand solitarily" is not to take lightly. I think the mk II has made some bad audio take ups (e.g. Swan Song) and mk II has not come up to the quality of 2020 Zepp Divercity "Holy War". But generally mk II also have stellar technical quality on live videos, but there is a couple of misses. Misses that not was made with mk I. Also if we shall compare Miho and Fami. Both are very good, actually several steps above very good. Miho has a solid deep metal bass. Fami is more fast and technically diverse. She do slapping and tapping and crazy stuff. But, if you listen to the MV for "Judgement Day" you do hear that Fami also can do that deep solid bass. But she tend to be more funky.
They played Set the World on Fire on the US leg. There's a fan video of it from the SF show. You're right though - I don't think any of the major streams or recent DVDs have it.
Miho's personal problems started in August 2018 and lasted for the last three years until her departure. After Miho's departure, Mao's presence (as a composer) increased in LOVEBITES' music. Miho's presence (as a leader and composer) disappeared and Miyako's presence (as a composer) decreased. Mao is a great composer, but he prefers to compose other music. We can see (hear) this in the music Mao composed for his former band, for other bands and artists, and the music he composes for different music projects.
@@rolandkarlsson7072 Yes.😊 After Miho's departure, Mao's presence (as a composer) in music has increased very noticeably. This can be verified if you look at the entire Albums of the 'Miho Era' (authors, co-authors songs and arrangements) and after Miho's departure. Look what's on the Album 'Judgement Day': - Mao wrote music (as an author) for 4 songs and co-wrote music for 2 more songs. Out of 10 songs on the Album !!! But the fact that Miho's opinion had a great influence on the band's discography is noticeable by the fact that releases with Miho differ from releases in 2023-2024. And you noticed this and wrote in your comment. I liked your comment. You analyzed everything correctly. Thank you! P.S. People often do not take into account or do not understand what it means to be a "leader". The leader of the band is like the leader of the Wolf Pack, like the leader of the Lion Pride, etc. The leader is a person who has a vision of the future and on whom a lot depends. After I learned a lot about Miho, I realized that Miho was much more for LOVEBITES than just a good bass player and a writer of good songs.
I really miss Miho. Her energy was darker, her presence in the band headbanging, her influence in songs like Thunder Vengeance and Break the Wall (two of my personal favorites, and I love them the most when they lean hard into thrash). However, I love Fami as well. Her bright and cheerful energy fits so well with the band too. They're a little different under the hood with Fami as opposed to Miho. Miho did contribute some writing of songs. We'll see if Fami does too. I think they are possibly technically even better with Fami, and I love them all just the same. This song is one of my favorites from them.
Thanks for the reaction. Miho was much more than just a great bassist who formed the great rhythm section of LOVEBITES with Haruna! Miho was the creator of the band and the leader of the band, on whom the direction of the band's movement and the result of this movement depended in many ways.
Without Miho, LOVEBITES wouldn't exist and she was/is undoubtedly a fantastic finger picking metal bassist. But in my opinion, with Fami in the band now, LOVEBITES is a more versatile band, with Fami's technical ability. The music released since Fami joined features the bass more than their older music, including Fami's technical skills that either Miho didn't possess or chose to not showcase.
I'm going disagree that LOVEBITES had more of a focus on thrash in the Miho era. It is true that Miho was the "natural" metalhead in LOVEBITES, and Fami had never even played a galloping triplet bass technicque before her audition for LOVEBITES. Lucky she's a quick learner. But even since Miho left the band, they (mostly Asami) is still writing quality thrash songs. "Dissonance" and "Where's Identity?" are two amazing fast and heavy thrash songs that have been written in the post Miho era.

LOVEBITES - Set The World On Fire lyrics & credits:
The blue moon colors the blaze
Stabbing myself with the thunder
The predetermined imitation
An emotionless and a fearless smile
Flowing blood and crimson blade
Devastated resolution
Heat haze is waving far away
Who’s going to be sacrificed?
ON FIRE
Just like a falling flower
ON FIRE
Until this body rots away
Burning down to the Gates of Hell
Distorted madness is sneering
Incompetent, cowardly fools
A pitiful and painful punishment
It’s you who will be sacrificed
ON FIRE
Dressed in an armor of steel
ON FIRE
If I’m burned again and again
I’ll rise up from the Gates of Hell
SOLO: midori / miyako / both
The blue moon colors blaze
Stabbing myself with the thunder
The predetermined imitation
An emotionless and fearless smile
SOLO: miyako
Flowing blood and crimson blade
Devastated resolution
Heat haze is waving far away
Who’s going to be sacrificed?
ON FIRE
Just like a falling flower
ON FIRE
Until this body rots away
Burning down to the Gates of Hell
